HI everyone,
just came across this and thought i'd intorduse myself.
I am between 8 and 10 weeks pregant - little confusion as my periods were so irregular. so waiting to go for a dating scan.
Feel a little sillly cos everyone else know when they are due! and Im a biology teacher so I really should know this!
anyone else had confusion over due dates?0 -

just wondering what people's thoughts are on materinty bras and when you should start wearing them (not the nursing ones).
i am, shall we say, well blessed in that department, probably an E cup. i of course want to look after my boobs while i am pregnant so have been looking at the M & S maternity bras. They all seem to be non wired ones. I know I have read somewhere about the wires affecting breast tissue, but i am now not sure what to do.
i want the support (obviously) and this is why i like wired bras, but can i have this option when looking at maternity bras. the M & S ones are cotton which i know breathes better.
would love your thoughts/advice/experiences/suggestions.
thanks

I'm 14+ weeks and went to M&S yesterday for a fitting. Pre-pregnancy i was a 34D, but measured at 37 DD yesterday. I got a pack of two maternity bras for £20 in a 36DD and they're really comfy on my very sore and heavy boobs - but they're just not attractive!! They only had a choice of two styles in stock in my size, neither particularly pretty!
After i got measured, i went elsewhere and tried on some pretty 36 DD's with wiring - but i have to admit although they looked better, they weren't comfy.
Are we meant to be wearing them overnight now too?:beer:0 -

Welcome.
Have you got a date for your scan yet? I think a lot of people don't know definate dates til the scan. I was lucky that i have always been regular as clockwork (28days cycle - always), so i could work mine out for myself. But, i think thats the exception, not everyone is so regular!:beer:0 -

Morning all!
I wasn't positive of my date either as my cycle is generally around 30 days and sometimes late and my friend who is due about a month earlier didn't know for sure either so you're not alone!
On the topic of bras - can I save a bit of money by just skipping straight on to nursing bras or am I better to get support bras then buy again once Bean is imminent?

I was reading somewhere last night that there is no conclusive scientific reason as to why you shouldn't wear underwired bras as long as they don't dig in or hurt (might have been babycentre) so I think I will keep going for as long as I am comfortable.
I have been reading the nhs pregnancy book this morning and I am really impressed with it. Short and to the point unlike the miriam stoppard that keep sending me to sleep!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

The latter I think, as when your milk comes in your can go up two cup sizes (eeek!) sorry ginvzt although mothercare now do a support bra and a nursing bra in H and J cups I got very excited! I do recommend the mothercare ones for a bizarre reason later on: I've found the baby likes to play with my bra band and push it out, the mothercare one has a fair bit of give in it so she can actually manage it whereas my M&S (non maternity though I'll admit) doesn't and she srill tried like a thing possessed! I end up feeling sick and having to whip off my bra! (not a good look when you're a 40G!)
Oh and you may find your bra size changes three or four times in pregnancy, I've been told to get measured for a nursing bra a little while before Small is due as they can then hazard a guess what size you might be! Unfortunately mse and pregnancy undercrackers don't really seem to go well!Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
Thanks to everyone for all the good advice I have already picked up on this thread!
I am now 35 weeks and starting to get a bit stressed about getting things ready for the new arrival!
Do anyone have any advice on types of mattress to buy for Moses basket and pram? We got a little-used Moses basket from a friend. It has a 2 cm thick foam mattress with a plastic cover. I guess that is not the best quality for the little one but will it be good enough for the short time that baby will fit in the basket or should we get a new thicker one? We have a cot and new mattress ready for a bit later.
Stay well everyone!

I think the thickness would be ok, not too sure about the plastic coating - sounds a bit uncomfortable to me. It is highly recommended to always use new mattresses anyway, so I personally would buy a new one....
