I also vouch for s&v crisps and ‘full fat’ coke (as I call it!). Also wolfed lucozade by the bucket load but not sure that’s advised! I convinced myself it was something to do with balancing salt and sugar levels?

It is actually! Well sugar levels anyway! I went to the doctor and had medication for the first trimester as I stopped eating and drinking I was so extremely queasy. He said that your blood sugar dropping makes morning sickness worse, so to eat a little and often. I had sweeties lying around as well and sucked one of them if the queasy started getting worse! I got so bored of eating it was ridiculous!
Fritha, best get scrubbing those floors before baby has less room to move back! lol. They thought Poppy was back to back but they were wrong – yay!

Right, can we all let go of the floor scrubbing idea please, it's really not going to happen ;) I'm fairly sure she'll turn round again, and it does give me hope that Poppy was fickle as well!

Polly, you're best off asking your midwife about prematurity, my BIL was born six weeks early and my midwife said it would have no baring on my sprog but obviously no guarantees as to when she'll actually make a bid for freedom (I'm convinced she's going to be very late, I think SB jinxed the Sept 26th due date!).

Gosh, there seems to be loads and loads of newly preggers people. I'm flying up the list which is quite scary! 30 weeks and 2 days now and I've had a fairly easy pregnancy so far. Easier than I imagined anyhows.

I had a bit of morning sickness, but only threw up once. I feel sorry for the women who seem to get really bad sickness, must be hard especially if you are working. Don't think my fellow commuters on the tube would have liked me much.

I had a bad spell about 24/25 weeks when I had really bad sciatica and I told everyone it was enough to put me off getting pregnant again! It really was that bad. I couldn't move around properly at all and was in agony. Can see what life may be like for me at 80 with arthritis. But all of a sudden it disappeared which was fantastic as I had visions of it staying until I'd given birth.

Just one quick question which is probably better suited to my midwife, but I hardly ever get to see her, so... My mum had my brother at 24 weeks (emergency C-Section) and me at 33/34 weeks (I came out voluntarily). Does this make me more likely to have my baby early or is it just one of those things? My mum is petite beyond belief which may have had something to do with it. Think 4foot 10 and 6 stone (your average 10 year old is probably bigger than her!). I'm not that small, but still only 5foot 2.
That's a question my DD and SIL are going to ask at the hosp, as he was born 3 months early and only weighed 1lb
REDMEL hope you are ok hun, and (((hugs))) to your poor friend:(
DD's worried today as she has been takin a multivit per day as well as folic acid.I told her to just get pregnacare tabs, but did she listen.... Dya think she'll be ok?

    hi candy girl.

I'm not panicing you - but my doctor advised me against a normal multi-vitamin when pregnant as it contains vitamin A and another one which are not recommended as can cause miscarriage. I take pregnacare and folic acid, but lots of the supermarkets and sanatogen all do pregnancy vitamins as well. I'm sure she's fine though - just get her to switch :D

Mel - I feel so bad for your friend. what an awful situation to have to go through. I will be thinking of her xxxxx

    hi all,

just wondering what people's thoughts are on materinty bras and when you should start wearing them (not the nursing ones).

i am, shall we say, well blessed in that department, probably an E cup. i of course want to look after my boobs while i am pregnant so have been looking at the M & S maternity bras. They all seem to be non wired ones. I know I have read somewhere about the wires affecting breast tissue, but i am now not sure what to do.

i want the support (obviously) and this is why i like wired bras, but can i have this option when looking at maternity bras. the M & S ones are cotton which i know breathes better.

    would love your thoughts/advice/experiences/suggestions.

    thanks

Hello everyone! newbie here (well newbie to this forum).

I don't yet know how far along I am but I'm probably somewhere between 4 and 8 weeks along but in view of my cruddy obstetric history (4 previous crappy ending pregnancies) I'll be seen by the feto-maternal consultant soon and have a proper scan done that will say how far along I am for definite!

I'm really stoked to be in this situation again and for once, feel really positive about a pregnancy.

Ooo - I was going to ask that one too. I am similarly endowed and have been in wired bras for as long as I can remember and non wired ones just don't feel right...

Also when is it okay to start buying things for the 'bottom drawer' as my Mum would say. I don't want to jinx things but neither do I want to leave it until the last minute. And what sizes do you buy? Just newborn and hope not to have a midget (or a monster:eek: )?????

  • Hi. I was a FF cup before I got pregnant and now a GG, nightmare finding bras. Never did really feel 100% comfortable. You really should wear non wired ones as I was told that went I training to be a lingerie assistant back in my youth! However I have also read that if you do need to wear wired then as long as they are a good fit and dont dig in then you should be okay.....confusing and conflicting isnt it!!!

If you have a bravissimo near you then def worth a look. My nearest is 4hrs away so not an option but they also do mail order.

Personally I found Mothercare disappointing but still worth a look. Depends on if you get a good fitter. Also if they dont have your size in stock they will arrange for it to be sent to your house free post.
Always found M&S it come up small but again everyone is different.

Dont forget your small independants. I wish I had remembered about ours when I was pregnant.

I was looking for at new bra at 5weeks pregnant as boobs went mad!

ive taken a pregnancy supplement which has the reccommended dose for folic acid in it but have stopped taking anything else Candy.
I'd tell her to just stick to folic acid esp if she starts getting morning sickness, doctor told me today if it gets worse to stick to just folic acid as sometimes a pregnancy supplement can be a bit much for ur system to take whilst ur feeling rough...
