Regarding the maternity bras issue I would recommend going to non-wired as soon as you can. I am equally blessed and ended up being a 36H (I was originally a 34E). I found the support was fine and actually went to John Lewis who were extreamly helpful. Having now had my baby I am still wearing non-wired and still comfortable so you should be ok.

RDB I had the same happen with the bleeding and was told it was a period. I was told it would be heavier than a normal period and did end up at hospital as I was so worried as it was like when I just gave birth. Hope this helps and PM me if you want to.

    RDB

I bled for weeks and weeks (I can't actually remember but certainly over 8 weeks) sometimes heavier than other times, I know its scary but unless you also have pain I'm sure its 'normal'

Hi there. Going to have to part with some cash for work trousers and bras this week methinks. It goes against my current MSE ethic but Ineed to be decent for work!:rotfl:

We've been offered a pedigree persian kitten for free but I have some niggling doubts because
a - the first thing my parents said was 'are you sure with the baby'
b - our kitchen is open plan so we wouldn't be able to keep the cat out while we're at work all day

but I really want the kitty because I've been longing for a pet as Hubbles is away a lot, the kitten is soooooo adorable and well reared (litter trained and weaned onto dried food only so relatively low costs, DNA tested for hereditary disease) and we think it would be great to have an animal in the house while Bean is growing up.

any folks able to offer a point of view?

Yikes, I'm galloping up the board with only nine weeks to go now! I haven't posted much, but have checked in regularly. Only a few weeks left in work and then I can relax.

I haven't bought very much at all, I personally wouldn't buy too much too early, as you'll find you get given loooaaads towards the end. A visit to the in-laws at the weekend resulted in over £65 worth of newborn clothes! All lovely, but I'm worried we won't use them all. I have, however treated myself and baby to one or two really lovely things rather than adding to the mountain of 'basics' that other people can't resist. I would also try buying toiletries, nappies etc in advance, some of the less cute things that people don't think of but add up!

Sickness - I was really sick (throwing up most days, sorry!) until about 20 weeks. The only thing that helped was cereal bars. Aldi do a nice one coated in yoghurt which really helped (can't eat them now though cos I associate them with being sick!). Try and get your sugar levels up, that's what helped me - sometimes I had wine gums for breakfast! It does end, although I know it's awful when you're going through it.

Long post, sorry. Hope everyone is doing well :-)

  • Hello Ladies :D

Had my 12 week scan this morning...and they have now put me at exactly 12 weeks :T Which brings my EDD forward 4 days to 2nd March (will change the list at some point)

Everything is going very well - baby is 5.4cm, which is bang on what it should be and there is definitely only 1 in there!

Bubba was very lively and wouldn't stay still at all - definitely a little acrobat and a showoff!!

It is a complete relief to be told everything is going well and that bubba is progressing just as he (or she) should be. I don't think I realised that I was so worried until we were told everything was okay!

Just a note for all you up and coming first time scanners - as you know you should have a full bladder...my appointment was at 9.30am so I had a wee at about 7.45 then I had 2 cups of coffee (breakfast) and then 1.5 litres of water about half an hour before I went in...my bladder was empty :o The sonographer said all the water must still be in my stomach (I hadn't eaten!)...she said it was as much about drinking at the right time (ie over an hour before you are due to go in) as about how much you drink!

    Hi
    Ultimately the decison is yours..
We currently have 1 big dog, 2 cats, 1 rabbit(other one ran away, don't ask!!) My two boys have always grown up around animals, inc hamsters, fish and birds....and this baby will be the same. In fact my 7yr old has taken it upon himself to become cheif pet feeder. The first thing he does when coming downstairs in the morning is let the dog out to the toilet, fills th dog bowl and the cat bowls and then lets the dog in again......all before he even has breakfast himself, I am very impressed with him.

My MIL said the same about our cats, are they going to be ok with the new baby, but we have always had a no pet upstairs policy so they all get locked downstairs at night, and they are used to the rules now through the day too, so there is no chance of them jumping into babies cot.....and all the time baby is downstairs someone would be in the room anyway.....

If you do get a Kitten make sure you teach what is acceptable and what isn't, best way is a squirt of water (we stuck a hole in lid of juice bottle) whenever it is doing something it shouldn't be doing, they learn VERY quickly.

    I'm a bit worried....

i had a bit of an episode at lunchtime. I was out for my lunch break when I came over all funny. Kind of got a tingling feeling and felt like my legs were going to pack in then everything went a bit fuzzy and I felt a bit clammy and cold. I actually thought I was going to faint.

I kind of breathed through it but still not feeling great. I carry a tin of boiled sweets to keep blood sugar up but a couple of those made no difference and I've had lunch (ham salad with a whole rainbow of veg incl potatoes) but still feel a bit peculiar. Any ideas what this might be? I don't want to phone the midwife for nothing:o
