I've been referred for obstretric physio because of my painiful hips. I've had a letter through from them inviting me to a class they run for this type of issue. Has anyone been to one of these classes? What are they like? I don't see how a class is going to tell me what is wrong with hips, when the doctor wasn't even sure it was pregnancy related?

Its also 2 weeks away which means surviving another 2 weeks in pain because the painkillers make me sick and the doctor or MW can't recommend anything else.

Sorry for the moan feeling very fed up with the whole pregnancy thing :(

Yes I've been to one - it's actually very useful and covers the basics that affect most pregnant women - you'll be given exercises and corset/supports if needed and should be able to ask specific questions and then make an individual appointment if you need to afterwards. When I went I could barely walk even though I was only about 16 weeks pregnant. The other lady (only 2 of us turned up) was 36 weeks and could walk normally. Since then with a combination of the exercises I was given, sitting on a fit ball if it's really bad and carrying on with my chiro once a month I'm now well enough to do some exercise (see earlier Davina post) and can walk on the flat reasonably well for half an hour+ at a time before I need a break.

It may be worth phoning and seeing if they do these classes weekly as they may be able to slot you in to a class before the one you're booked on.

Thanks Justie, I've already phoned and moved it forward one week, the original appointment was for 5 June. They don't have a session next week so I'm stuck with the 29 May. Not ideal, but I'm going to have to put with it.

Thanks again, hopefully my session will be as useful as you found yours.

one of the most helpful things I found was that I wasn't looked at as though I was making it up

I also found out that my pain was in my ligaments not my joints (the wings of my pelvis rather than my hips as I'd presumed) and so was therefore definitely pregnancy related. It may not be much but I find that understanding why something hurts helps me to be able to cope with it and work out how to get through it.

OMG, I have an absys (sp) and I want to cry.

It started Wed night, and I just brushed it off, thinking it would be gone in the morning. Well it wasn't and I was away at a meeting all day, and had to beg and borrow pain killers (fortunately paracetermol) and have only managed today to get in touch with the dentist.

My gums bleed everytime I brush my teeth, and I know that this is quite normal in pg, but the pain. I know it is nowhere near as bad as labour, but for the moment it is (it has even given me bloody earache).

    Sorry for the winge !

Ouch izoomzoom, that sounds awful, poor you. It's a different kind of pain to labour, and maybe more horrible in its own way because you don't get something amazing at the end of it. When is your appointment? Hope you can get treated quickly.

I've been to one of the joint pain classes too, I found it quite useful and informative, they went through why it happens, what you can do to prevent it from getting worse, birthing positions that don't aggravate it as much etc. And yes, it was nice to speak to someone who believes you when you tell them how painful it is.

So far I'm much better after this birth than I was after my last one (couldn't walk at all after my last one, but today I've just managed the 20 minute walk to school and back).

Yes I managed to get it treated quickly. Had an appointment this afternoon but it was the worst Dentist that I have ever been to. Put a filling in and just dug and dug whilst I was just about climbing out of the chair in pain. Then I gagged and wanted to throw up and what does the idiot do, just carries on. OMG. I am never ever going back there.

And to top it off, I got a prescription, popped it into the chemist and she asked if I wanted to wait 10 mins, or come back tomorrow. I said I would be back, and got there after 13 mins, to find the bloody chemist closed.

    I am livid !
