Hello lovely pregnant ladies!
I havent posted on this thread for months as I've had Hyperemisis throughout my pregnancy and been poorly.
Just wanted to say hello today though as it's my due date and I'm sooooooo glad it's nearly all over for me.
Its felt like 9 yrs rather than 9 months and I'm just so happy that this Little one will be the last member of our little family and make us complete.
Good luck to all of you especially those not feeling well - it'll all be worth it I promise!0 -
my friend took something from the health food shop instead of the tablets - can't remember what it was called though sorry but it may be worth asking as iron tablets are pretty unpleasant.
My midwife has been out today and recommended Spatone, if I need iron supplements, as they are an easier absorbed form and less likely to cause side-effects.0 -
Can anyone advise: I'm thinking of using re-usable nappies but which ones do people find the best? I don't want to spend a fortune on them only to find they are useless! Definately going to have to use disposables to start with as don't fancy washing the first few!!!!
Also are muslin squares useful? people have mentioned then to me but I haven't got a clue! If so how many should I have and any ideas as to price?
Thanks everyone:heart2: Charlie born Aug 2007 :heart2: Reece born May 2009

I had iron tablets, I only took them every other day (was only a bit anaemic though) and took them with a glass of orange juice to prevent the constipation (nice!)."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

it all depends on the size and shape of your baby - soem fit better than others. Some people just use Terries and are very happy with them whereas others will only use shaped ones and only specific brands.
I haven't bought any yet as I'm waiting to see how big our boy is likely to be but there are various starter kits around and various places to go for advice. See this thread for a starting point http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=417001&highlight=cloth+nappies
and yes muslin squares are uselful either as drip cloths, or you can use them as nappies on a newborn with a wrap - but everyone finds different ways of doing things so don't go buying loads but if you can get them given (Freecycle is often good) then don't say no.0 -
Hey hope everyones ok, i told my 2 girls that they are going to have another brother or sister, my husband left it up to me cos he didn't want to be faced with the 'how did the baby get in there?' question, tho my kids were far to excited about having a little baby then care about details, my oldest is only 5.0

Hi Claire, I'm looking into this too (even though I have already bought a stack full of disposables!). Someone advised me to buy a few different brands off eBay (even second hand  ) before spending alot of money. And don't forget to check with your local council as mine offer a £50 refund incentive.

I've just purchased a complete One Life kit of nappies, after a lot of research. They haven't arrived yet, but the whole kits of 20 nappies and 3 wraps of 4 different sizes cost me just short of £300. I was a bit dubious about them to start with because they are one size, but having been to the Baby Show a few weeks ago and seen them n the flesh (so to speak) and compared them to the others available I think these will suit us best.
CHeck out the Nappy Lady website as there is an advice questionnaire that you can complete and she will advise you to the best type of nappy for your lifestyle and expectations. Really helpful and not obligation to buy from them. It convinenced my husband to go down this route.0 -
in no particular order and I can't vouch for any of them but here are a list of useful sites for nappies and info:

a good place to start is with the nappy lady advice questionnaire which will at least help you work out what you want from a nappy and weed out those that are impractical in terms of drying etc. However if you've never laid hands on cloth nappies it's all very confusing so it may be worth seeing if there's a lollipop advisor locally - or you need a friend like mine who's been using cloth nappies and can give you some hands on experience with them.
Birth to potty kits can be a simple solution and I know lots of people who love the One Life nappies - but until you know what size and shape your baby is a birth to potty kit may end up as an expensive mistake - some of the sites including the ecologist and kittykins do well priced trial kits so you can see what nappy suits you and the nappy lady do a rental for newborn wraps so that if you're using just muslins or you only want to buy one size nappies you can still make use of wraps small enough for a newborn.
cloth nappies seem to be addictive - all the friends I have who have used them are practically evangelical about them!
(not sure if the policy still exists but ebay had banned second hand cloth nappy sales because they came under 'used underwear' but the nappy lady and a couple of the other sites have second hand sales so there are still plenty of options and the prefold especially often turn up at NCT nearly new sales and on Freecycle)0
