oh snaggles what is it about parent that they think they have the right ot say these things
I lost 2 1/2 stone before getting pregnant and my mum keeps saying 'you needed to' - it takes me all my self control not to say 'you could lose a few yourself'
I've just got the Davina pre and post natal workout DVD - I used her power of 3 before I was pregnant and if you like that kind of workout then it's good as it's more aerobics based than yoga etc but gentle and done in conjunction with the NCT so safe for pregnancy. Having not been able to do anything for the last 20 weeks I now have some energy so figure I need to use it to get myself into some kind of condition to be able to cope with labour... I doubt I@ll be able to walk tomorrow though :rotfl:0 -
I might try the Davina DVD thanks - I've got the Power Of 3 one, and I really like it. The annoying thing is, I'm almost a stone lighter than before I got pregnant (had bad morning sickness lol), and my pre-pregnancy clothes are dropping off me, but she still made me feel crap! Oh well...
Hope you're not too achy tomorrow"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Congratulations beakerange, it's good to see you on this thread. Welcome to the madness! :j0 -
OMG don't get me started on parents and their weight comments...
My Mum has been obsessed with her own weight for as long as I can remember, and she's totally obsessed with anyone who's pregnant or had a baby. It is soooo annoying as she'll always comment on so-and-so who's "ever so slim, you wouldn't know she's got 3 kids" or somebody else who's "let herself go" since she's had a baby. She's got a comment about everyone, and it bugs me so much!
Most of all, she comments about me, of course. "So how much have you put on?" - "Erm, I don't know, I don't weigh myself" - "Well doesn't the MW weigh you?" - "Erm, no, they don't do that anymore" - "Well when I was pregnant, blah blah blah...."
Aaaarrrrgggghhhh! :mad:0 -

Parents eh? How does anyone ever grow up normal and well adjusted?!
I just hope I never say any of those things to my daughter (or son for that matter), I would hate to think that something I said had hurt them."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
My mum's been okay about the weight thing, mostly - she said that after giving birth to me and my brother, her tummy felt like a big sponge - if you pressed it gently it would bounce back (this is how I test my cakes are done!). That was a bit reassuring to know and nice to hear her talk about.
Then, a couple of weeks ago she popped over, I was wearing a very floaty top - but not maternity I might add - she proceeded to ask me what on earth I was hiding under it!But it was a nice opportunity to get the pregnancy book out and show her just how big the baby was at that time.
She is the one person I wouldn't have to smile politely and take it, but still, if you've nothing nice to say...0 -
So I'm not the only one with a "put your foot in it about weight" mother? That's a comfort
Last year, before I knew I was pregnant she came to London and I took my mum in to see the office. Now, bear in mind my normal weight is 11 stone so I'm not exactly on the thin side but I don't have a complex about it.
Anyway, when Martin appeared to say hello, which she wasn't expecting the only thing she could think of to say (she's 73 bless her) was "her sister's a size eight you know"!! I just wanted the ground to swallow me up. Martin smirked something cronic and went back up to the office to tell everyone about how hilarious my mum is. Yet to this day all my mum thinks about is that she didn't get up out of the chair she was sitting in to shake his hand!!
Of course when I told the MSE team there was a baby MoneySaver on the way I also pointed out it wouldn't be likely I'd be a size eight any time soon :rotfl:
PS. Oh, and towards the end of my pregnancy she asked me if I thought I'd lost weight!! (although being her child and used to her "mumisms" I knew what she meant)
