    Hello girlies

Well my pregnancy has been pretty straight forward so far (gosh I hope I haven't tempted fate saying that). I'm 32 weeks and 5 days so not that long to go now. I've got low iron so I've been on supplements for quite a few weeks and I still don't feel great but it's nothing to complain about really.

Well I just knew this would happen, yep I spoke too soon.

My friend had a really bad experience with Group Strep B. She didn't know she had it and passed it to her baby when she delivered. The baby was really ill for many weeks but thankfully made a full recovery.

Anyway it kinda made me think about the times I had been in hospital as a kid having ear and throat operations and the possibility I might already have it.

I couldn't have the test done in my area so organised to have it privately. I got the result back today and I'm positive :-(

I know it's not the end of the world and providing I get the intravenous antibiotics when I'm in labour this should stop it passing onto the baby, but I was really intending to stay at home for as long as possible and then have a water birth. I guess both are out of the question now.

I'm just glad I had the test. I can't understand why the NHS don't offer this test as routine afterall it's only a swab and would surely save money in the long run. Giving antibiotics must be cheaper than intensive care to the babies that catch the infection.

I'm hoping to speak to my midwife tomorrow and hear what she says about it.

Has anyone here been through this already?

Phew - am I glad to hear that! 18 weeks with second and feel huge! Was beginning to wonder if I was normal! :rotfl: Everyone I see seems to be pregnant and I felt like I was constantly comparing my bump to everyone elses! Will just relax and enjoy it. I've been surprised by how much earlier you feel the second one moving, its lovely to think its growing well. 2 weeks til my next scan, can't wait!

Phew from me too! I'm only 7 weeks with no.3, and my jeans were getting tight before i did the test! And as for my boobs...........if only they could stay this size forever!

awwww saver because of the repeat thrush ive had the high vaginal swabs for strep b and they have come back negative so i cant really help much.
i know thats its better to have it diagnosed before the birth so thats really good that u now know and can be treated make sure that ur birth partner if u have one knows about it so they can remind the midwifes in your labour i know it seems obv they should know but sometimes they get crossed wires.

    Hi

Just rang John Lewis as the cheapest maxi cosi (from 0+ onwards) on line is £89.50. The guy told me it must have been something that was offered by the local store (your local store). He said my best bet was to go into the store myself and see what they had so I'm going to take a trip to Sheffield tomorrow and see if they have any bargins. (It's a big store so I'm quite hopeful).

Will let you know the outcome ;-)

Best of luck. Ours is the Maxi Cosi Cabrio fix (0-12 months). I checked the brochure this morning and I could see no "local comments" - addresses or anything (I'm in Aberdeen) so I thought it was a national brochure.. They didn't have the seat in stock in the store itself - it came from another store. I am picking it up this weekend so hope the price and product are still correct!

I have moved myself up the list as I am to be induced a week early on the 14th. The reason for this being because during this pregnancy I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and have been controlling it with insulin so they have decided to induce because of that. Well and also cos they want me in hospital to have bump so they can monitor baby when born to check it's sugar levels and as my last baby flew out they arn't taking the risk this time. I have been having regular growth scans due to having a previous small baby and bump is gonna be another small one apparently so the diabetes hasn't effected bump in that way.

That coupled with the fact I have been barely able to walk with SPD and my asthma coming back during pregnancy I am kinda glad it is gonna be an early one, tho not looking forward to the induction part!
I live in my own little world, but it's ok as everyone knows me here :)

    Hi there,
Just wondered if anyone else has been in this situation. I had my Downs triple test at 16 weeks. Got my results back a week later which was screen negative 1 in 270. I was happy enough with that until a friend (midwife) told me it was boderline and the cutoff point is 1 in 250. So since finding that out I have been a bit worried and have booked myself in for a quad test and private scan. The guy doing it is meant to be renowned for his expertise. I'm having it done tomorrow evening and will have to wait til next week for the results. I'm trying not to get ahead of myself with worry but easier said than done.
Hope everyone else is ok and I'll log on sat night with an update.
    xx

Hi lwucus78, I'm not sure if this helps or not, but at 16wks my result was 1 in 58. We were told the only option was an amnio and no other tests would give a definate result. Having been through a lengthy ordeal in order to get pregnant, we were sure we didn't want a termination. We requested a 'counselling' meeting with one of the hospital midwives which confirmed that, for us, there was no point risking the 1% chance of miscarriage that an amnio carries so having made that decision, we've just accepted that whatever will be will be. I know you must be going through lots of worry as we did in the week before we got the counselling session. Not sure what a quad scan is? good luck with the scan, really hope all goes well for you. bubs. x
  • Iwcus78 & bubs im not really sure what to say but my thoughts are with you, i know its hard waiting for results so will be keeping my fingers crossed for you both.

I had previously had 4 miscarriages before i had my first child so my hubby and i decided that we wanted children so much that this test wouldn't change our decision if we had it or not so decided not to go ahead with the test.

Try to keep a positive mind im sure you have nothing to worry about

I had a CVS test at 11 weeks because of a genetic condition I carry, waiting for the results is a nightmare. To look on the bright side, I had a 1 in 2 chance (50%) of having a bad result, so I in 270 would have been great for me. We got a negative result, so if we can do it with our odds, imagine how much better your chances are. Good luck and please try not to worry too much.
