Im 5 weeks tomorrow when should i start using stretchmark cream??? i got stretch marks on my hips when i was a young teen from growing and they are still there to this day, really dont fancy them all over boobs and belly if i can help it lol im only 20 and dont want to have to hide my body. (i know that sounds vain) Also i have i tattoo on my left hip/belly and i was told it would be ruined if i got a stretchmark through it - is this true?

    Thanks guys xxx

Hi all, I'm a newbie. Think I'm about four and a half weeks pregnant. My GP didn't seem too interested earlier but I'm booked in to see the midwife next Wed afternoon.

Random question (which I haven't found the answer to by Googl-ing!), can I eat supermarket deli-counter bought quiche whilst pregnant?

I'm not feeling great today (more hayfever than pregnancy!) and that's what I fancy for tea, but I've read that you should only have hard boiled or scrambled eggs. Thanks!

Have an underactive thyroid so thought it would take longer than three months! Have been told I'll have to have lots more blood tests than usual and the GP today mentioned "consultant care"! Will wait to see what the mmidwife says next week.

Looking forward to joining in with you all :)

sorry going to have a moan, been told got diabtetes, i know its not as important as other things to have. found another strechmark today, been using cream every day. feeling fed up

Moan away, ok it might not be the most serious thing to have but it is something that needs to be taken seriously, especially for baby. I got diagnosed at 28 weeks and it sort of knocks you for six.

One thing to remember is that in most cases the diabetes will go after baby is born, basically it is the placenta that stops or restricts insulin production.

Is it just the diagnosis so far? Have they had you in to discuss keeping an eye on it yet? If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will try my best to answer. I have just been for my last diabetic clinic appointment today where I had my insulin dosage upped again, but because appointments are every two weeks and I am being induced in approx two weeks it wasn't worth me going for that last appointment and I just have to ring them to discuss my glucose levels.

You go through quite a few emotions when you find out, but you sorta get used to it. :)

    Your welcome Carol.

I'm only being induced a week early and it is more for the fact that I have very fast labours and they would prefer it if I was in hospital because baby will need a bit of monitoring. Last baby was born with paramedics in my bedroom, lol.

I have been having more scans, but I was anyway because I have had previous small baby. My last scan was Wed and it seems this one is going to be another small baby, not overly tiny but smaller than the "norm" as they class it. I did have scans booked with the diabetic clinic but I cancelled them as it ended up I was getting 2 scans the day after each other which seemed a bit of a waste of time to me. They will most likely give you a scan to check on the size of your baby and discuss what options there are for you. Generally people with diabetes have larger babies, but it may be that your baby hasn't been affected by it in that way. Whichever way it is, it's an extra look at your baby before he or she arrives!

The testing at home is really easy, I am the worlds biggest needle phobic and I can do it lol. They should take you through how to do it and will watch you do it the first time to make sure you are comfortable with it and that you get how to do it properly. At first they will keep an eye on your records and get you to try and control it with diet. You will be advised to follow a low GI diet and to watch out for things like fruit juice being a higher sugar level than the whole fruit.

Please try not to feel too depressed about it, easier said than done I know but it gets better and easier. Remeber it is most likely only until the baby is born and after that most peoples diabetes just disappear. You will be offered a GTT test a few weeks after baby is born just to make sure it was gestational and not them catching early onset type 2 diabetes. You will be told about the fact it may mean that you will be open to getting type 2 later on in life tho, but with an improvement in diet and lifestyle it can be delayed significantly.

Hopefully that has been of some help, but I keep looking in here regularly so if you want to ask about anything or just generally moan feel free. :)

Best of luck. Ours is the Maxi Cosi Cabrio fix (0-12 months). I checked the brochure this morning and I could see no "local comments" - addresses or anything (I'm in Aberdeen) so I thought it was a national brochure.. They didn't have the seat in stock in the store itself - it came from another store. I am picking it up this weekend so hope the price and product are still correct!

Just checked the John Lewis website. The clearance is now online including some nice baby items and the Maxi Cosi car seat for £70..

Away to check changing units - we thought we would get one as well since we do have a bit of space in the bathroom, but might go with a cot top changer since it would be cramped in bathroom. Hard to know what will feel best!

Hope you are all well - I had blood tests taken at the midwife last week to check if I need iron etc but otherwise all is well so far (28 weeks). Starting to feel a bit "bulky" when I move around - but enjoying some aqua aerobics to feel I get a bit of exercise!

You are most welcome Carol, glad you are feeling better. It's lovely seeing them on a scan at a late stage. I am 37 weeks tomorrow and when we saw bump this week you could make out different features on the face, it was definately an experience!!

Just keep going along with the flow, cos very soon you will have that little bundle to hold on to! :)
