thanks for the messages of support toto and daisykate. To be honest, once we made the decision not to have the amnio as we wouldn't have a termination whatever the result, we both felt much better and decided to focus on being positive. Without wanting to sound sappy, we feel blessed to be having a baby after all we've been through with miscarriages, operations and treatment etc,and I've managed to speak to a friend of a friend who has a little boy with Downs Syndrome, and she loves him to bits and wouldn't change him for the world. Everyone has a different perspective on this and its always good to hear good news like Toto's. I'm 31 wks+4 now and we are so looking forward to meeting our baby! I really hope lwucas you get some good news, but if like us you don't get a definitive answer then take heart that there are others like you - I know at 16 wks we felt very alone with the decisions to make. If you have a good midwife counsellor at your hospital then I would recommend a chat with them. What put it into perspective for us is when she said that albeit the 1 in 58 result we had sounded scary, it only becomes relevant if you're the 1, and not the 57 others - and without an invasive test then for us we'll have to wait until the baby arrives to find out if we're that statistic. Fingers crossed you get the news you want this evening. x0

Iwcus78 and bubs - what a thing to go through! Hugs to you both.
Am now 36+ weeks and about as uncomfortable as it's possible to be. Midwife phoned day before yesterday to say I have had a positive test for strep B. Am having a planned section so no idea what the implications are for that. Anyone else know?
My baby is breech so I am spending my life at the moment trying to push it's head down so that I can actually breathe!!!
Went for a scan last week and DH swears he saw a willy so trying to come to terms with having two boys at the moment - would be much easier if DS1 wasn't having terrible twos! Perfect timing!
Iwcus - will be thinking about you today. Hope results are good.Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet...0 -

Don't panic about the poss test I think it’s great you have had one !!! I never got offered them I had to push to get them. It can be a problem for the baby if undetected and if your water are gone for any length of time as you are having a c section so long as your waters do not break before hand there is no problem If they do they will just treat you and poss baby with antibiotics as you know of this you are fine !!!! It's when you don't there can e a problem my 1st born was ill after birth with this luckily everything was ok !! I am now expecting number 3 in just over a week and still for my last 2 pregnancies I have had to push to get tested and it recognised. I think should be offered to every woman.
Good luck !!!!!!!0 -

Thanks for this - sometimes I think pregnancy is just 9 months of different things to worry about. I try so hard not to but it's really hard!!!
The only reason i know about strep b is because I went into hos on sat cause i thought my waters had broken so they did a swab! Turns out it was just wee - how glam is that!:rotfl:
Sorry if tmiTomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet...0 -
hi all, i am looking at getting a changing unit, with a bath.havent got a table so cant use that, does anyone have any advice. the cheapest ive seen is £50.
thanks0 -
sorry carol cant help ive never had a changing unit my sister had one but i found they were a bit redundant after around 3 months because of the baby wriggling more.i use a baby bath to bath them and the sofa or floor to change them or the bed with a changing mat.
perhaps ebay may have some but £50 for a changing unit with draws and a bath is really good.if ur just after the changing top u can buy ones that go on top of the cots.riley john born june 28th 2.35pm-8lb14.5 hour labour from waters to birth.0 -

These things happen yes 9 months of worry..... then it continues... more worry i have a 12 year old and a 7 year old u still worry just about diff things !!
Make sure you tell the midwive about ur poss test in any future pregancy to ensure if your waters are gone for any period they treat it.... don't quote me my memory is terrible since i have been preganant but 1 in 4 women are carriers of this.
I have a c section booked also mine is for the 7th starting to get all nervous !0 -
re the downs tests-my husbands mum was told that his little sister wud have downs and other complications they even booked her for a termination 3 times and she refused all 3 times.his sis is now 5 and does not have downs or any other illness.we refused them tests this time and we refused genetic testing/counselling if this baby has my daughters condition of nf1 because it would make no difference to us.nf1 doesnt run in my family and my daughter and son have a different dad to this baby so the odds of this baby having nf is low also the fact that my daughters real brother my son doesnt have nf1 points to it being a genetic mutation and not hereditory.riley john born june 28th 2.35pm-8lb14.5 hour labour from waters to birth.0
