    hi jojo

Good luck for this afternoon. My sister had pre-eclampsia and she was kept in for a few days and then they induced her. I think it depends on how high your blood pressure is and the level of protein. The fact that they are getting you in straight away is a good sign that they will look after you and have everything under control.
  • JoJo - I had high BP and protein from 35 weeks and had checks every other day the hospital said they wouldn't let me go over due but as it happened I started myself 4 days early and BP was fine straight after the birth :p Good luck

I was supposed to be at hospital this morning to get the results of my 24 hour wee collection, but mw called me to say he had the results and protein was unusually high, so I am going in to see a consultant this afternoon for a full medical review instead. Looks like pre-eclampsia is a real possibility now what with my high BP.

Does anyone know what the upshot is? Do they try and speed things up by inducing or will they try and whip me in for a c-section? Funnily enough i thought something was about to happen last night. Really strong Braxtons woke me up and kept me awake for a couple of hours. Then thought maybe they are real contractions - but then I fell asleep and they've stopped now. But hopefully it is a sign something is imminent!

    Good luck JoJo.

Hi, ask as many questions as you like! I'm not using a birth pool. They usually book you in around 7 months-although probably depends on the area i 'spose. Two weeks ago, I was given a list of what I needed.Basically plastic sheets to protect furniture, a torch-to check tears ect, a bucket-for the placenta, towels and snacks for the midwife(that was on the list)! It depends again on the area, as friends of mine basically provided nothing and the midwife had everything she needed.

They ask you what room you want to have it in and they just make sure there's no obvious problems with the room, they make sure you have heating and running hot water.I find the one on one care very attentive as quite a bit has changed since I had my last, almost 9 years ago and I'm full of questions, lol.

They will only deliver you from 37 weeks though and I was glad when i got to this saturday as i'm now 37+2 so all being well i should be able to have it at home. They will only allow it if your low risk and there is no foreseeable complications.

Thanks. Not long now for you so I look forward to hearing how it goes! Don't think I will have much problem getting to 37 weeks... my previous 2 were both well overdue!

Just wondered if sneezing a lot upset the unborn baby? I don't seem to be able to stop. I know at my scan when I started laughing, it woke the baby and it wouldn't stop jigging around for nobody.

My bf is convinced our car boot isn't big enough, but I don't really want to go down the route of getting a new car. It's an Alfa Romeo 147 and I think the boot would be fine if he took out that CD changer thingamijiggy.

    hy all

il be 33 weeks pregnant on saturday and today ive started having pinkish spotting (its only a lil) also been having really bad back ache, period like cramping and tightenings of stomach (they dont hurt all the time), i have an appointment at mw 2moz morning and im just wondering whether or not to go a&e 2night about the pink spotting or wait till i see my midwife 2moz. First time pregnancy so just a lil confused on what to do for the best.

Babys movements are normal (if they wasnt i wud go straight to a&e then).

Has anyone else experienced any pinkish spotting at my stage of pregnancy?

Any advice would be great, Thanks in advance

  • Cookie I would phone your midwife to see what she says rather than sit and worry.

i had pink discharge yesterday already had an appt with the hospital that day so told them there and they did like a smear test with the silver bullet type instrument thing and will get my results in 3 days possible it was a show but could be down to the thrush they cant get rid off.i wasnt kept in they checked heartbeat and did the smear thing and thats it.
id ring your midwife or your cmu unit its really what they are thier for,or you could wait till you see her tomorrow maybe.
personally id ring the cmu number u have and explain the situation explain ur seeing the mw tomorrow and unsure what to do

they also said it could be down to sex so if u have been intimiate recently they may ask that as that could cause pink spotting or discharge.

    Hello everyone!

It's been a long long time since I've posted on here (couldn't keep up with the speed of the thread  ) but I just wanted to check in and let everyone know that I'm still alive!

Was 3/5 engaged a week ago and have been having regular (every 10 minutes) Braxton-Hicks for about 24 hours. The midwife thinks I'm in the latent phase of labour and it can either turn into the real thing or stop so fingers crossed my baby girl will be making an appearance soon :T

Not tomorrow though; my dad's predicted that date astrologically and will be unbearably smug if he's right.

Hope everyone else is all right.

In answer to other issues I've seen on here in the last few pages:

    1. No WAY am I shaving my legs let alone my ladygarden for birth. I can't see or reach it even with a mirror and I could do without unnecessary pain. Besides which, the midwives have seen it all before and I'm not going to care less if I'm in agony!!

    2. Flying should be fine shortly after conception. So many babies are conceived on holiday these days it must be! My baby managed 2-week severe food poisoning, mega-strength antibiotics and an 8000-mile flight from Mauritius a week after conception and she's OK. Er... didn't suspect I was pregnant before you ask!!
    Due 26th April 2008 :j
