Hi girls, hope everyone is well.
Just interested in your thoughts re cars and babies. I currently have a Ka, its brilliant for me, cheap to run etc. However boot is very small and only 2 drs. I need a car as we live out in the sticks. Are other people swapping for more family friendly cars? Are there any cars anyone would recommend in particular. I'm expecting my 1st but will want another child in a few yrs(probably). Looking to spend no more than 9K.
    Thanks xx

Sadly can't help you there, not that i know much about cars really. All i know is our car is big enough for the baby's buggy in boot and so on, we only brought it about 1 year 1/2 ago and knew it'd have to last a few years!

I'm sure someone else will be able to advise you though :o

My daughter used to have a Ka , but she got a 5 door Fiesta last year.

She hasn't had the baby yet (wont be long though!) so can't say for sure how baby friendly it will be , but will let you know. I'm pretty sure it will be ok though and it's certainly nice to drive.

    Getting very excited now! :j

She's been having strong Braxton Hicks today and I get the feeling I could be holding my granddaughter before the week is out :j

My husband says she'll be born on his fiftieth birthday on Tuesday. :D

Hello everyone, have posted on here for a while....just wondering if anyone is planning to have or did have a home birth? I was dead against it at first (with 2 kids and 2 dogs at home already) but I'm beginning to contemplate it now. I'm 28 weeks now BTW.

Hi Sunday girl, I'm having a homebirth.Basically, this is my 4th child and means i will not have to wory about child care when the day/night arrives.I cannot be bothered with waiting around in the hospital for an hour to see a midwife/consultant for a 10 minutes appointment-she comes to me,spends about an hour and actually answers my concerns.I do have a cat,but anyone that should'nt be in the room on the day simply won't be.

I can understand why people would opt for a hospital birth definately, but after 3 experiences, I vowed I would'nt do that again, unless I had to.
There are certain guidelines the home birth teams do follow, they explain situations of worst case scenario and you have to sign to say you had these explained to you.I can't say if a homebirth is better as I have'nt had one yet and it's all down to personal experience, but I can honestly say, the treatment i've recieved so far with not feeling I'm just a hospital number has really been very good.Good luck in whatever you decide

    Hi everyone

I have been lurking reading this thread for a little while now. I found out I was pregnant after TTC since October. Finally got the lovely positive test!

I am now 6 weeks +4 and I am really suffering now! My best friend for the past 4 days has been the loo, I have been so sick. I have tried dry crackers before getting up, ginger biscuits and ginger beer and even travel sickness bands. Nothing helps!

I am on holiday from work until Monday but I am really worried about going back to work and everyone suspecting I am pregnant! I work in a very gossipy environment!

Anyway sorry about the moan! Any tips about how to prevent the sickness would be great. Also how long did you wait before you told people you were pregnant.

We are thinking of telling my parents soon just because I have been so ill and it is getting hard to hide!

Hope you and your bumbs are well.

Thanks traveller, I'm seeing a midwife on Wednesday (first time in 12 weeks!) so will discuss it with her then, I didn't realise you were assigned to a different team but I've still got 3 months to go so I assume it's not too late to change my mind. Will you buy/hire a birth pool? Do they give you a good idea of what you need to prepare? Sorry for all the questions!

I've never had a ka, but I do ahve a five door Fiesta and I really like it (obviously haven't put any sprog in yet but when we bought it my pregnant friend and her toddler gave it a once over and prounced it grand for sprogly based excitement!). I used to have a three door Renault Clio as well, tiny car but I could fit a ridiculous amount of stuff in! Extremely nippy as well, not as nice to drive as the fiesta but much better acceleration! So I recommend a Clio as well (but the five door version!) :-)
