CONGRATULATIONS SNUGGLEPUSS:beer:

RJH-I'm due the same day as you and can well imagine how beneficial that massage was!My legs inparticular are really painful now and I've loads to sort out.I've been off from work the whole week and have done literally nothing than sleep and usual household stuff.I was given my list of what to get for my homebirth and am just hoping that my nesting instinct kicks in soon,as I have no cleaning/frantic tidying bug whatsoever. Is anyone else getting really forgetful, or is it just me?

Just got out of hospital yesterday lunchtime with our little one. DP forgot to pack the changing bag with the nappies, cotton wool, baby clothes etc in the car when we went in for the second time (wasn't far enough dilated despite contractions every 5 mins the first time, so got sent home with co-dydramol for the pain - like that was going to be enough!!). I had fortunately put a babygro (newborn size) in the labour bag I packed, so we used that until DP came in the day after the birth with a going home outfit for the baby, and the hospital provided all the nappies and cotton wool we needed for cleaning. They would have even provided a babygro to put on the baby after the birth, if necessary.

Just been trying to calculate how much maternity time off I'll be able to afford. Just done a quick google search and am I right in saying we'll get 90%pay for 1st 6 weeks and SMP of £112.75 for remaining 33 weeks. Didn't it go up in April 2008?!!

I believe it is 90% for 13 weeks and then SMP until you hit 39 weeks (SMP should be about £117 a week now). You are then entitled to take a further 13 weeks unpaid. The entitlement changed for babes born after April 2007.

Some employers do offer packages over and above the guidelines e.g full pay for 6 months.Worth asking.

Went to an active birth workshop yesterday which was very helpful - brought up lots of things I hadn't really thought about (will not be having the injection to deliver the placenta for example!). Just realised how unready I am considering I could drop any minute. Have been too skint to consider hiring a tens but will just go ahead and get that monday anyway cos it looks like it will help. And put a request on freecycle for a birthing ball as that looks very useful too.

I started to panic about not having a birthing ball after the class and then had to remind myself that women had managed somehow without one over the millenia so i'm sure i can too. The tens, and anything that looks like pain relief though, is a must!

I think its £117.18 per week from 6 April 2008.

Im pretty certain its only 6 weeks at 90%. Perhaps your employer is different thought?

traveller!! glad i have a due date buddy!!! i am totally nesting but i keep over doing it!!! i get a sudden burst of energy and hoover the whole house, then am wrecked and need to have a wee snooze!!!i feel really prepared but at the same time totally like eek i have to give birth and then i am going to have this baby which i need to care for!! help!! i am relaly excited though. seems like only yesterday i found out and now i look at my bumpy thrashing about and cant believe there is a baby in there!! had a wee scan at hospital for my 34 week checkuo(at 36 weeks) and baby is 5lbs 7oz approx at minute.
