  • Have been trying to resist posting on here until after my first scan, but have been having some faint brownish spotting so need to keep up a positive frame of mind.

I'm due 21st October atm, this will be my third baby. I have miscarried before (at 12 weeks) so am absolutely paranoid about little thing I percieve to be a sign. With my boys I had the metallic taste in my mouth, but don't have it with this one although I am feeling sick all the time.

aww well done 3 kids and ellies mum :D:D

personally it depends ive brought everything for this baby now and we arnt due till july

we got a brand new cot usually get a cot bed but my lil girl will have out grown hers by timethis baby needs a bed so we pay weekly on a cot with mattress thats was £80
we got a second hand pram thats been used twice for £25 from ebay
a cold water and microwave sterliser inone on offer at tescos for £10 tx max have the same one for £20.
we were given a brand new moses basket and stand
we got the car seat also used twice for £3.00 from ebay.
some brand new still got tags on newborn clothes from a chairty shop for 50p an item:D
nappies we are getting when they are on offer.
using milk tokens to get some powder milk so its stocked up.
maternity clothes again ebay but got some bargains from new look.

i would say dont get tons of new born stuff they grow dead quick buy some newborn some 0-3 and some 3-6 clothes and ask friends and family to get 6-9 it goes so quick ul need them sooner than u think.
nappy wrappers are more of a pain than a help in all honesty.
bottle warmers are now redundant since ur not ment to warm bottles up or keep them warm like u used to be able to do so id go with the buying a cheap kettle for ur room.
buying everything new is great if u can afford it but alot of ppl cant and nearly everyone i know now buys second hand all my baby stuff has cost less than £200 for evrything and im very proud to say it:D
if u do want a new pram very cheap theres a baby shop but its on ebay again called bambino world that sells new prams realitivly cheaply.

im sorry it all seems to be ebay but thats only because its what ive used as well as freecycle and friends and family.

Hi; Am planning a holiday abroad and will need typhoid and hepatitis A injections; travelling to North Africa but want to start trying for a baby in the very near future i.e. in the next couple of weeks ... do I / don't I have the injections, advice please!

Have also posted this on the travel forum but thought you guys would be best to answer.

i would speak to your doctor tbh.it depends when you are planning to book the holiday to how far gone you could possible be by that time.

Congratulations 3KIDS! Am so glad to hear that (not-so) little Ben arrived safe and well. Well done you! :j

Am having a wobbly moment atm. Feeling tired and down - I know it's just hormones. Am also now starting to panic about the 21 week scan. It's not until next month but already I'm starting to think "what if"... :( Am trying to be positive and I'm sure if anything drastic was wrong they'd have picked it up at my earlier scans and through my tests.

On a lighter note, my mother has been buying with a vengeance and I think I now have so many newborn vests that I won't need to wash one! That's practical for you! :D My house is slowly filling up with baby paraphenalia which is nice. I really must start organising it all.

Am suffering from Carpal Tunnel syndrome at nights and keep waking up with no feeling in my little fingers. It goes off quite quickly but is a little annoying.

I would like to join please. I have been lurking ever since I started TTC but was too depressed to join then, now that I am pregnant I have this weird fear that if I tell too many people then the baby will disappear

Totally mad pregnant woman indeed ... (Have now decided that if my name doesn't go on the official list then it will be ok).

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
    Hi,

I would like to join in as well. I had my 12 weeks scan yesterday (Due date 20/9) and all looked fine. I have now started thinking about the baby as a little person - I didn't really think of it as anything but a "blob" before! ;)

I come from Denmark where antenatal care is slightly different (not to mention maternity leave and pay!) so just learning the British scheme now. I haven't looked through the whole thread yet but look forward to all the good tips I can see will be here! Great with advice on what things you really need and what works - it is easy to get overwhelmed with all the adverts of absolutely necessary items! We won't start shopping just yet and will be happy to get second hand when the chance comes!

Looking forward to keeping up with all of you :j

    Hi,

I'm new to posting, but have been lurking around for a very long time now. This site is brilliant.

My husband and I had a lovely (unexpected) surprise a couple of weeks ago when we found out I was pregnant. :T It's still early days but I like to be prepared, and would appreciate any advice.

What will we need to buy in the up and coming months? This is our first baby so will need everything! I don't want to waste money on un-necessary stuff or things that people have tried and would recommend or avoid.

We don't sell or buy from ebay. I will be buying new. I'll also be looking out for BOGOF offers on toiletries - what should I keep an eye out for?

We'll probably start buying in the next cople of months. So please steer us throught this crazy new world of bottle warmers and car seats, please!

    Thank you :hello:

AA the joys of first baby buying.

We had our first in 2006 for I will give you some advice based on what we found out the hard way.

The nappy bin things with the cassetts are a waste of money. really buy for scented nappy bags or just use plain old carrieds if you are using disposables.

If breastfeeding and wanting to pump buy an electric pump, manual ones are rubbish.

Newborn clothes really are a waste. our daughter was 8lb 9 and she was literally in newborn for 10 days if that.

Don't underestimate the usefulness of a knitted/crocketed blanket some elderly reletive offers to make. The are fantastic for swaddling newborns and branded swaddling blankets are pricy. Our daughter still uses her's for naps too 18 months on.

Chose your pram/pushchair combo wisely based on your lifestyle and not on looks.

A sling is a cheap and fantacticly easy wy to carry a newborn. It is especially good if you drive most places.

I'll post more later. baby awake

Hi, is this your first pregnancy since your miscarriage? The reason I ask is because , when I concieved a couple of years after my miscarriage I had the faint brown stuff too-but no actual red blood.I was told to bed rest and a week later it dissapeared.Try not to worry and good luck!!!
