Ah Sunday girl, ignore them all. I imagine they were just saying that they didn't like it? In which case, ignore it completely as every name will be disliked by someone. The only time I would suggest listening is if they pointed out something valid such as "doesn't that rhyme with syphalis?"Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0

3Kids, that's brilliant, well done!
I've been trying for years to get my DH to sit his test again (has failed 5 times) and he's not going to get round to it before the baby arrives, so I shall point this out to him with glee in the hope that he feels a smidgeon of guilt.:mad:0 -
Hi Guys
I cant believe Natasha is 9 days old already, she is such a perfect baby
Sorry i havent been on for a while - i have had a lot on and as a couple of you will know my Grandad hasnt been very well lately and sadly he died yesterday morning.
He had been unwell for a couple of months but worse over the last couple of weeks, I kind of knew he was hanging on to meet the baby as she is his first proper/blood Great-Grandchild and he was over the moon to eventually see her and hear her cry which was lovely to watch.
Anyway i dont really have time to write a full birth story so i will type out a quick one and post a picture...... I love my gorgeous little girl0 -
Hi everyone
Douggie - maybe it will work and you can shame your DH into trying again.
sunday-girl - it really doesn't matter what anybody else thinks about what you call your child. As pointed out by someone else as long as it doesn't rhyme with anything awful or isn't going to cause your child to be ridiculed because of their name then it really doesn't matter. I know when friends have had children i haven't always liked their choice of name to begin with but then the children grow into their names and they are really nice (does that make sense). It really isn't worth worrying about what other people think.
ella-ella-ella - i honestly know just how you feel. My son is 4, but when he was 6 days old my grandma died suddenly. If you need to talk please feel free to pm me. Great to hear that Natasha is so good though.now mum of 4!!!0 -
After being under huge pressure and constant stress for the last few weeks i was having loads of braxton hicks which were becoming more and more painful. On Monday night after trudging up and down the main street (in the snow and ice) to my Grandad's house, fighting with Social Services and then taking my Grandad to a nursing home for a week's respite, i was in a pretty bad state and just didnt feel right so we rang the hospital who said come in to be checked over.
We arrived at the hospital at 10pm and although i was 1cm dialated and having (bloody painful) braxton hick twinges every 15 minutes they sent us home at 2am. I woke up at 4.30 am and my waters had broken but they were green which sent me into a huge panic so off we went but because of the ice we had to turn around and go the long way around, very slowly!
Because the baby had poo'ed they said they would give me a drip to speed me up if needed. At 5am i was only 2 cms and having contractions every 4 minutes, at 9am i was 3/4 cms so was officially in labour and given a room.
I knew from the start i was having an epidural and because of the reasons on my notes behind that i managed to queue jump three other people and get the epidural at 2.30pm. At 4pm i was only 4cms so was given the drip to speed me up. After a few problems with the drip dropping the baby's heartrate and the epidural wearing off on one side twice i was eventually 9 cms at 9pm. The midwife did some paperwork and said we would start pushing at 10pm. I pushed and pushed and Natasha was born 40 minutes later. She was fine straight away and is just perfect :j
It really wasnt as bad as i thought it would be although i really struggled to cope with 5 hours of contractions without anything, not even gas and air. I think mainly because of everything else that had been going on and lack of sleep and food - i just couldnt focus properly but she is worth every single thing i have been through ten times over
I really really enjoyed the whole experience especially the pushing as i was really good at it, lol :rotfl:
So it was 18 hours in labour and 13 hours of official labour.
Here comes a picture...... I love my gorgeous little girl0 -
Thanks 3kids, all my Grandad wanted was to be at home and to meet the baby. My mam had taken him out of the nursing home the day i had Natasha and cared for him herself and he got to touch and see the baby which i have some pictures of which was lovely - you could see the love in his eyes and he told me he was so happy, its a comfort knowing he got both the things he really wanted. I love my gorgeous little girl0

Hi all just discovered this link and guess its for all pregnant members to share experiences??
Well im 34 weeks pregant and have just come out of hospital today after having to have a monitor on and all sorts of horrible tests due to having lower abdominal pain and backache- luckily baby (boy!) was okay, but its so worrying! Just a water infection apparently although i had regualr contractions showing up!?
Hes my first baby and im finding that because im quite young (19) i am getting alot of stick form the midwifes, they just seem not to be bothered and cant wait to get me out of the appointments fast enough- i went yesterday and said i was suffering from pains and midwife said "oh well- if it gets any worse then you will have to go to hospital!" I mean she didnt even check! Well i wasnt happy with this so went into hosptial.
Its not as if im the steriotypical teenage mum on benefits- im with my partner (have been for 3 years!) we both work and have our own house- but all i seem to get is prejudice from the health system!
Does anyone else have this problem?? Or what do you advise as im sick of not being cared for properly and being brushed off all the time!
ARGHHH!!!
