Hi guys, I went to see my midwife for the first time on friday. It's really exciting for us, as it feels more 'real' now. Im being sent to see a specialist for my high bp at some point apparently, but theres nothing to worry about, ive had my tablets swapped over that are safe for pregnancy.Ive got an appointment to see her again at 9 weeks, so not long. Im excited about the first scan though!

Im feeling quite cra p at the moment though, been feeling so tired its silly-been having naps in the day and my new tablets have been giving me headhaches. And i didnt realise id keep needing the loo for a wee so much at this stage!

Can i ask, is it normal to be feeling sick/getting morning sickness so early (at 7 weeks)? And ive been feeling sick/worse in the afternoon/early evening?

Lets hope things improve at some point lol......

    keely.
Mommy to Elliot (5) and Lewis (born xmas eve 11!)
  • Keely,

I think whatever you are having is probably normal for you! If you count back to when I stared with being sick it was the day after the deed was done, so to speak. Don't be scared to speak to your doctor as it's dangerous to get dehydrated and they'll be able to sort out what's right for you. Good news is that it'll more than likely pass - just in time for the indigestion to kick in!
  • sadly keeley morning sickness is not confined to mornings i had morning noon and night sickness.
i lived off curry noodles, turkey sandwhiches, crisp sandwhiches for i good 2 months.i had to stop drinking tea and anything with sugar in made me sick so i hope u have a better time than i did xxx

im glad to say its almost gone now except been sick today from the smell of gloss.

i did start a spending diary then lost net for 2 weeks so that went out the window think im going to have re-start it and get naggin at fella and ex to tell me what they are spending when they "just go shop"

  • Any advice anyone. Had my urine tested yesterday and it had protein and blood in it. I have done another sample this morning and put it in the fridge to have checked this afternoon. Will this sample be OK as i thought a first thing in the morning one would be best and has anybody else had this? Thanks everyone.

  • My midwife usually wanted a fresh sample. I did have protein in my urine towards the end of my pregnancy but also had other symptoms - high blood pressure, swollen feet and fingers, headaches and once I had flashing lights. A couple of symptoms on their own and the midwife wasn't worried but when I had everything together was when I was admitted for monitoring. I thin it could depend upon the amount of protein in urine as well, because while I was in hospital they were measuring how much was in there.
  • Thanks choc - think i will hedge my bets and take a sample from this morning and a fresh one before i go. don't really want to get there and her tell me she needs a fresh one and have to try and catch one in the drs toilets.

Been cleaning again today, don't like to leave things in case i suddenly had the baby early - you never know do you?

Keelykat - hopefully you will find that the sickness goes, i think it can affect you near enough any stage of your pregnancy, but particularly early one, and at different times of the day. I have never vomitted but felt sick at the beginning then it eased and came back again.

Anyone out there actually blossomed during their pregnancy? For me this time round it has been full of niggles and worries. Started to get back ache now but i am nearly 36 weeks so i suppose it is to be expected.

Anyway, off now to brave my girls' bedroom - i just never know what i am going to find when i get up there!!

Dougggie - I hope your cardiologist app goes well. I was just wondering if you drink tea or coffee or anything with caffeine in it for that matter. I'm only asking as I went to the cardiologist as I have having irregular irregular heart beats which scared the poo out of me and went on for hours and it turned out I was drinking too much tea. As soon as I switched to Red bush tea then all my palpitations stopped. I hope this helps you.

Thanks miss_be, the consultant seemed to think there wasn't a problem, but i'll have to go back in a week or 2 to have a cardiac monitor "just to be sure"...though he said he wouldn't make an appointment with me and would just look at the results of the monitoring as he didn't think it would be necessary.
Don't drink much in the way of caffeine, have had about 3 coffees in the entire pregnancy, don't like normal tea and have given up green teat while duffed! Do have herbal teas but from what i can see they're all caffeine free. Not eating much in the way of choc either so not that! Mind you, i do know that some medications like sudafed have made it worse in the past so i don't touch them now, maybe just a reaction to something and pregnancy making it worse  ?

I wouldn't say I bloomed exactly but my hair and skin were great - I usually have very dry skin and hair but they were quite glowing. Also I hardly had to shave my legs etc - the hair was very slow growing. Now that I've given birth I've noticed my skin all over is very soft and smooth - hoping that continues. I did have various aches and pains though - the SPD in particular made me groan quite a lot!
  • Rang my doctor yesterday, they said the midwife is due in on Tuesdays and I have to wait for her to contact me. Not too hopeful as it's the NHS!

OH has been speaking to one of our friends who has a 2 year old and she says I need to see the midwife ASAP. I'm just worried about annoying the doctor's receptionist. They always seem so bad-tempered, at least mine is. (I bet someone in here is a doctors' receptionist now!)

I've just ordered that book for my OH, keeping it as a surprise, I think he will be quite chuffed. I love The Rough Guide to Pregnancy and Birth, it's brilliant, but I have to stop myself from reading ahead - I want to get to each week as I get to it! Does anybody else get that? - the feeling that by doing too much research, reading everything going, asking for advice - you are sort of cheating yourself out of some of the surprises?
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right
