Thanks guys, for the replies about morning sickness. So far haven't actually been sick, but felt sick. Im finding it difficult to see certain people right now, as im keeping this a secret untill im 3 months...

  • Ahhhhhhhhhh............ I'm 13 weeks tomorrow and STILL feeling really ill! I have stopped all day sickness and nausea, and tend only to be sick after my evening meal now with mild all-day nausea, but my head is banging and I'm being really irritable with everyone! Plus, I have to wait until 14 weeks + 2 days for my FIRST scan due to NHS waiting lists which is really worrying me. My friend had a stillborn baby after contracting CMV and I am terrified of similar happening to us - I am out of my mind cleaning everything and everyone, including extra bleaching/antibacterial-ing everything in the houses of the people I care for when I give them a hand with the cleaning (who don't know I'm pregnant and are probably pretty insulted, but a huge part of me has suddenly deemed such feelings irrelevant ).

When does it get better, and will I actually relax at all after that first scan?!
  • paradisekid - can i ask what CMV is please? You sound really worried.

Remember that your hormones are all over the place at the minute and can make you irritable and all the worrying might be giving you the headaches.

CMV is a common virus which can cause cold sores. Lots of people carry it without any symptoms except getting a mild sore throat / feeling flu-like at the time of contraction. However, if you contract it during pregnancy and pass it to the baby it causes misacarriage, still-birth, or impairments to hearing / brain development / sight in a child - in my friends case it caused still-birth. I'm probably being a bit obsessive but it seems like every thing (meat, cats, dogs, people) can cause major problems for a growing baby and I feel so uncertain because I haven't got my can for another week and 3 days

Pk, i don't think you ever really relax throughout the pregnancy, there's always something to worry about if you let yourself. The trick is to assume it's all well until proven otherwise, but there are so many scare stories out there you can't help but be paranoid that you'll be one of the minority who has something go wrong. :o

    Hiya Keely x

I totally sympathise - I had sickness in my first trimester and it was soo horrible.

My advice - See your GP - it may be you need to be signed off work. I was signed off for a few weeks.

Try and rest as tiredness makes the sickness worse.

Try and eat foods when you can and keep your fluids up.

I swear by high dose vitamin B6 ( I took 25mg x 3 a day) but you need to check your GP is happy for you to take them.

Take Care and Good Luck x

Anyone out there actually blossomed during their pregnancy? For me this time round it has been full of niggles and worries. Started to get back ache now but i am nearly 36 weeks so i suppose it is to be expected.

Hi all... I feel really good actually. With my 15 year old i was sick as a dog for 5 months or more.. not a twinge now!

I must say that if my boobs didnt hurt so much i would be convinced i wasnt pregnant. wish i could see my midwife but cant go until the 11th feb!
