My DH has never come to any antenatal appointments - with DS or this one, and I don't want him to. My appointments last all of two seconds, and are pretty useless really, so I'd see it as a waste of time. I'd rather he took that time off work once the baby's here.
But OMG of course he has to come to the scans!!!
We keep talking about the birth and what if I go into labour in the middle of the night or something and DH will have to stay with DS as we can't really wake the neighbours up, and it would take my MIL a couple of hours to get here. So DH has tentatively said what if he can't make it to the birth and I said he better!!! There's no way I'm going through it without him.
But my best friend has just announced that her DH is not coming to the birth as they've got no family to look after their DS, and their DS would not stay at anyone else's house. Ho hum.0 -
If my OH said to me he wasn't going to be present at the birth he would know what trouble is!! So far he has attended every scan/appt with me.
I admit to being very, very grumpy at present. Hayfever plus SPD plus two boisterous boys is not a good combination when you can't move much! I am counting down the weeks now until it is over and I can have my body back.0 -

I so wanted to enjoy this pregnancy and was really looking forward to getting pregnant and experiencing the whole thing, but I've felt really crap for most of it as a result of sereve morning sickness until 26/28 weeks and now my pelvis won't behave. In addition to being so hormonal, like I didn't think was possible. I just want it all over with and I've at least 6 weeks to go, don't know how I'm going to cope.
Sorry moan over.
Welshlassie - it's entirely normal to get to a stage of pregnancy and just want the baby out!I had a good old moan to the midwife today and kept saying how I couldn't want to have the baby. I'm not even thinking about the baby's arrival - I'm just desperate not to pregnant any more!
I'm sure there are some saintly Earth Mothers out there who love every minute of being pregnant but the vast majority of women find it hard going at some point.
Don't be hard on yourself and try to make some time for you and your OH to get away together for a night out. (Even if you don't feel like it.) The exhaustion and pressure of coping with a newborn also places lots of pressure on your relationship, so it might be a good idea to try and do some 'couply' things together now. I'd also recommend a haircut at this stage. (I'm going to book one in for next week.) Being pregnant can make you feel really unattractive and you'll struggle to find time after babe arrives! (I'm now at the stage where even the maternity clothes that I've got are too small and it's too late to buy any more!!) I feel like a big unattractive whale but don't get me started again!
Best wishes and hope you're feeling a bit better. xx0 -

I've realised today we should really get a move on with this shopping for baby malarkey. I spent the whole day today walking around town and already I found it hard work - my back went, my pelvis went, I can't imagine traipsing round shops in later months. Unfortunately hubby has been away nearly every week for 2-4 days at a time and by the time weekends come all he wants to do is rest. I'm hoping to get him interested in the baby by having the little one kick him, unfortunately baby settles down when it hears daddy's voice! And SIL said because of my blubber it may take longer for the kicks to be felt. Funny how baby can kick a remote control off my belly though !
Caught a 'glimpse' of my belly in the changing rooms today and my initial thought was 'good grief, that can't be normal'. I realised that I am actually quite pregnant!
Ooh and we got our NCT classes timetable today. She managed to arrange lots of two hour sessions instead of the busy saturdays we were dreading, and best of all we start in a fortnight already! All very exciting.:wall:0 -
Thanks everyone.
I'm feeling better today. I went for a Clarins pre-natal face and body treatment yesterday afternoon, that DH had bought me for my birthday back in March, but I'd not got around to booking. That helped alot and I think I'll be booking another before baby arrives. It was wonderful and so relaxing.
I'm working from home today as I have physio and MW to see this afternoon, and the NTL man is coming this morning so plenty to keep my mind occupied.
It's DH 30th birthday next week so I'm trying to persaude him that we should go out for a meal together, hopefully where we got married as we haven't been there since then and the food is divine.
Think I just need to plan things to keep my mind occupied for the next few weeks so the time goes a bit quicker.
Thanks again and I hope everyone else is ok.0 -
Welsh lassie, glad to hear that you had a better day. Hope you get to go to the nice restaurant.
I can't decide whether I should be cutting the grass in the hope that extra exercise will bring baby on, or whether I should be saving all of my energy just in case he/she comes today. No twinges today, loads of braxton hicks last night, I'm sure I'm destined to be overdue- boo hiss, saying that I'm still not due til next week so maybe I shouldn't be so pessimistic!
Have a good day.WW Gold Member, trying to maintain !!!Hayden born July 07Tabitha born April 05Poppy born July 030 -
