melt71 - sounds like you had a dreadful time. Hope this experience is a much better one for you. It is so annoying when things come down to cost isn't it, surely the health of the baby and mother is so much more important.
Know what it's like when you don't have enough help. Really feeling this during this pregnancy when i am constantly on the go and nobody much seems to help. Good lucknow mum of 4!!!0 -
Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your advice its really helped, its just a little upsetting that i cant bf him, but like others have said babies that have formula manage just fine so i dont see how my son wouldn't when he is born.
machairs- I dont mind you asking why i cant breastfeed, 3 years ago i was diagnosed with having ocd which i have had since i was 13 im now 24. Ive now come of the medication due to being pregnant but the downside of that is i have started to get abit manic with my ocd again, i thought i would be able to just stay off it, but the doc said once i have my son, i will lose all these happy hormones and things could start to get worse again so the dilema is do i not take medication and breastfeed my son or do i let my son have a manic mummy that cant stop checking everything for hours on end. Its so hard to know what to do for the best i dont want family/friends to think i am a bad mum for putting medication before my son, but it is for him if you know what i mean.
Sorry for the long ramble im still not sure what to do for the best, first time mum nerves dont help as im not sure whats right or wrong.
Thanks again for all the advice

Don't worry too much about what people think about you not breastfeeding. I just told people that I couldn't do it (she kept going to sleep and wouldn't latch on properly!) and they never asked for all of the details, I'm sure it will be the same with you. They don't need to know you are going back on your meds.
How about hiring a breast pump and expressing the first couple of days worth of milk? At least then your baby gets the really good stuff, all the anti bodies etc. I definitely wouldn't leave going back on your meds more than a week as you may find that you have to cope with PND/baby blues after that after the come down of the birth and leaving hospital. I was really shocked that I felt 'down' as I'd expected to feel really buzzing so it wouldn't be ideal for you to have to cope with this natural drop in hormones as well as your ocd.
Good luck hun, I'm sure you'll figure out what's best for baby AND you. Don't let the pressure of what your friends think interfere with your decision. We’ve had to remove your signature. mandy2383 - i can really sympathise. i have posted on here about my ocd and depression and i can really see how you must feel. i came off my medication before getting pregnant and my symtoms have got worse. Please don't feel guilty about not breastfeeding, some women don't do it and they have no good reason. You have obviously weighed up what benefits you, the baby and your family the most and i can see why taking medication would be the best option. It may very well be what i have to do when my child is born. OCD is terrible to live with for yourself and your family so if you can take some form of medication after your baby is born to make life more bearable then that is what you must do. I am struggling with this pregnancy due to the OCD and it is making my marriage difficult at the moment. If you need to talk then everyone here is great and has helped me get things off my chest and just reading the kind words that others write helps. If you want to pm me then that is ok by me. and don't worry about what others think or say - they don't matter, its you and your baby that are important
Saw midwife after having a 'moment' yesterday and she said my blood pressure is low - going to check my iron levels next week when i have my bloods done too.now mum of 4!!!0 -
aw thanks everyone,
Thank you melt71 for the brilliant idea of expressing some milk it never even entered my head to do that, thats whats so great about this thread im always learning, at least then i will know i have tried. I thought i would just feel the same after i had the baby but the doc says the same as you that you have a big drop, im really lucky that i have a meeting every six weeks and then i will have a big meeting after my sons birth to see where i am at. Thank you again you have been really helpful
3KIDSNOMONEY-I am sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment, it really can be quite bad at times I dont know if its because we have unborn babies to worry about that makes the OCD worse or just because im without medication either way its a nightmare at times, I really hope you start to feel a little better soon0 -
Well I saw the consultant today who also thinks it obstetric cholestasis, but is putting me for liver scans etc. Have to go for weekly checks at the hospital now and if the levels in my blood don't go down I will be induced early!! Not worrying about it though as I'm not much of a worrier. It just means I get to see babe every week as we get a scan every visit now!! Oh and get more pics :rotfl:

Does anyone have and cold or flu remedies? I feel terrible today and have no idea what I can take to make me feel better. I am sending OH to buy me orange juice and paracetamol. Does anyone have any other suggestions?0

Mandy Thanks for easing my noseyness! I fully understand now. I was just checking it wasn't because of some well meaning person telling you you couldn't because you had small breasts/large breasts etc etc IYSWIM. Sorry to hear about the OCD and depression and you are absolutely right to take the meds you need to allow you and your baby to have a happy time together. I suffered from crippling depression myself about a year and a half after ds1 was born and also had undiagnosed pre-natal depression. I took meds to help and wouldn't hesitate to do so again even if I had to give up bfeeding, I, and my 5 other siblings are formula babies and it did us no harm.
I other tip I though of last night - if you can beg or borrow another steriliser, do so. Once the bottles get bigger and if you have to use dummies, space can get quite tight in them. I also, this time around, used microwave ones which could also be used for cold water steralising. Came in handy when the micro blew up one day and we couldn't afford to replace it for a few weeks.0 -

You have my every sympathy. Mine developed into crippling sinusitus and I've now got antibiotics to shift the infection.
There isn't much you can safely take. Paracetomal to take the temperature down etc. I'm drinking lots of orange juice and herbal teas with honey and lemon added. Steam inhalation with menthol crystals is pretty good, it's clearing out all the snot out for me (sorry if tmi) and that is pretty important in preventing it getting to the stage I'm at.0
