You have my every sympathy. Mine developed into crippling sinusitus and I've now got antibiotics to shift the infection.
There isn't much you can safely take. Paracetomal to take the temperature down etc. I'm drinking lots of orange juice and herbal teas with honey and lemon added. Steam inhalation with menthol crystals is pretty good, it's clearing out all the snot out for me (sorry if tmi) and that is pretty important in preventing it getting to the stage I'm at.
My poor OH is in Asda trying to see if the pharmacy has anything I can have. They thought that Benylin 4 flu would be ok but I had a quick look on the net and some places say not to so I have told him to get a refund. I was just hoping that the pharmacist might know of something but he seemed to be just reading the lables and saying that the ones that don't say don't take them are ok but I am not sure so I will stay clear. Can I ask where you get menthol chrystals from? I have a very blocked nose and steam sounds good to me. Thanks, purplegirl0 -
Hello all.
My Sinusitus has now cleared with the antibiotics although face and teeth still feel quite tender. On the upside as I am just going into the third trimester I finally feel better than I have done since the start so maybe I may get a couple of weeks 'blooming'!!
Cold and flu remedies.
Someone suggested to me the other day putting a little cider vinegar in with honey, lemon and boiling water. Don't know if it helped anymore but tasted bearable with a few drops in.
Also try inhaling over steam with a few drops of Carvol in. That should stop things getting too blocked up.
Kiwi's also have lots of vitamin C in. Apparently Limes have more vit C in than Oranges so could try squeezing a few of those into some water.
Hope you feel better soon Purple girlBaby Boy due 4/3/08

Mandy, you are taking the medication FOR your son's well being, not putting it before his. It's hard enough coping as a new mum without the added factors of ocd and depression so hats off to the lot of you who do cope. Personally you could try to express, but I found it quite difficult so if it puts you under too much stress, I really wouldn't worry.Annabeth Charlotte arrived on 7th February 2008, 2.5 weeks early0

Feeling abit left out.
I added myself to the due date list back on page 203 and I've disappeared from it. I'm due on 2nd April and really would like to be added to the list. Please could someone sort me out? I can't figure out how to put myself on in bold so just did normal type.
Thank you x0 -
Aw, Tranquil...
It sometimes happens when the next poster on the list doesn't use the most current one.
I used to be a self appointed List Monitor when I was pregnant!!
I will add you back on.

machairs- lol thats ok, no one has said anything like that yet, but you never know i still might get that, wonder if its to do with the fact that i am like a charging rhino with my moods this past week and would probably sit on them if they said anything wrong lol.
Thanks for the tip of another steriliser sounds like a good idea, think i will see if any of my friends will have finished with theirs.
Bun- Thanks for that i think sometimes its just nice to hear someone else say it, and you all are right I will be doing what is best for my son like every mum does and a happy mum means a happy baby hopefully.
Hope everyone isn't feeling too bad today, OH thought i was mad i suggested that their should be pregnacy men that for the whole nine months are at your beck and call and do everything for you without complaining or moaning and bring you flowers and chocolates everyday, lol i think i have been spending too much time on my own lol memo to self to get out more0 -
SB its nice to see your still around keeping us lot in check lol :rotfl: Hope you and poppy are doing well.
Hello and welcome Knotty29
I did in an earlier post say be careful using menthol/vicks as when I had a really bad cold the boots pharmacist said I could only steam using boiling water!! I'm not saying don't use it but just check it out first.Everyone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070 -

You definitely can't have Benylin - what planet was that pharmacist on?
See I know all about cold remedies as I got plenty of colds in both my pregnancies and now am BFing so the rules about medicines are pretty much the same. (I also mystery shopped pharmacies while pregnant and have asked advice on what I can have :shhh:)
I use menthol crystals, Vicks Vaporub and Olbas oil (put a few drops on a tissue and put inside the pillowcase at night). Olbas pastilles also help. You can have Strepsils if they're the plain ones (not the super duper maxi-whatsits). No Lemsip unfortunately, just paracetamol, lots of hot drinks, honey and lemon, chicken soup, juice...
You can get these nasal strips that supposedly help keep ypur nose unblocked. They help a bit, but are expensive (I got mine from a home trial)
It's a pain in the neck not being able to take your usual stuff, I know.I've got a cold at the mo myself so know what it is like. :grouphug:
