this pregnancy malarkey makes time drag like nothing else in the world.

Never a truer word... I work in education and people are ALWAYS saying things like 'I can't believe it's nearly Easter/half term/the end of term/summer/whatever' - and I'm thinking, 'well I can!' Since the day I found out I was pregnant time has dragged like at no other stage in my life.

RE Midwives, there are no numbers on my notes, I think I can only contact them through the surgery, but I'm sure I'd find out pretty quickly if I was very worried. I don't even know the MWs name - I think they work as a team and the one I saw at the booking in appt just laft a scribble as her name... Only a month till my next appointment - I'll ask about it then.

This age of viability... I can relax now? Never! It only means that from this point on the baby can only get bigger! Which means more symptoms... I wonder sometimes what would happen if something was wrong. My guess was contraction type pain and bleeding, rather than any sharp pains, which could be absolutely anything. I blame everything on constipation anyway :o

Fac73, how mean are you, taking appointments away from dying people :p . Speaking of which, if you were dying would you call your GP or just go to hospital? Hmm, let me think...
Not long to go? It's HOURS yet! I cannot imagine doing the whole labour thing, let alone having an actual baby! Good grief. I'm just same old me, just getting fatter...:D As for shopping for baby - every little space I make by clearing out stuff from the house is soon filled with baby stuff, mostly second hand. Our living room and kichen are filled with furniture which is supposed to go in the nursery if we ever get round to clearing the space. So no, it's not long to go now. Still need to find a new boiler, new carpets, new car (bucket seats not good for car seat or pregnant woman) and teach the dog not to sleep with us . Panic!!

Hi everyone. I'm still plodding along. Iron seems fine but I am only taking 1 tablet per day. A couple of pages back several people saying about feeling emotional yesterday- must be weather I was the same!

This morning I have got a weird pain that I can feel both in my back and tummy, to the side - when I breathe in it hurts. I can only feel it on one side though, it's sort of an ache that feels worse when I breathe, if that makes sense.

I got pain under my ribs on the left around the same stage and got checked at the docs, but it turned out to be nothing to worry about.

The only other thing I do get occasionally which is really painful, always on the left hand side and about the area you describe, and made worse when I breathe in, is trapped wind. Not very rock and roll as ailments go, but painful enough to make me want to curl up and moan for a while. I've recently discovered (while trying to turn round my little breech delinquent) that getting onto all fours and lowering my chest and head close to the floor for a few minutes can help to move things along. Either way if it persists and is worrying you that's reason enough to see the doc. :)

My baby (being naughty these days) spent from 4am kicking hell out of me whichever position I chose - it was trying to get from yesterday's breech into today's preferred position of completely transverse, but it took hours and involved shoving its bony head into my poor liver repeatedly. Who kows what sort of acrobatics we could yet witness before it arrives - 7 weeks to go!

grr... that emma gets on my (giant leaking) norks....
    PSML :rotfl:

I don't have an Emma's Diary book :( but I vaguely remember the annoying woman from when I had DS. (Gotta feel sorry for her though, she's been pregnant for like a decade now! :D)

My goodness CG, can't believe you're getting the leaks already! I'm hoping I'm going to be like the last time - no major leaks while pregnant (but I'm sure I'll make up for it once the baby's out - I'm sure I alone subsidised the whole breast pad industry when I had DS :o)

Re: getting hold of the MW, I too have her number at the front of my notes. You can only get hold of her there first thing in the morning though, before she's off wherever.

And yes, I've felt the time had dragged so much in this pregnancy - I'm sure it wasn't like this the first time. It just feels like I've been pregnant forever

I'm so annoyed with the bloody dr's surgery that i thought i'd come on here to moan about it.
I had to go in three separate times to get the same blood tests done because none of them could get any blood from my 'poor' veins, even though the blood donor people never have any problems. then i got a letter from the midwife (that i had to pay excess postage on even though the surgery is one street away) saying that they didnt get enough from me so i have to go back. So i phoned up and they've changed the number and it's now an automated line that costs more and keeps you waiting twice as long and plays muzak at you and then apparently there are no appointments with the nurse for three weeks and i should have phoned up earlier. So i pointed out the fact it was the nurse's fault, and she got all upitty and blamed the midwife. I said either way, it's not my fault and i'm not prepared to wait three further weeks to have tests taken that were supposed to be taken 4 weeks ago. so the nurse says i have to go to hospital and have the blood taken there, because she's just far too important and busy.

I'm starting to think, if they can't handle a blood test, how can they handle a birth?
:j Baby bonce was born on Christmas morning after a ridiculously short labour and no pain relief! If only losing the baby weight was as easy!:T

jbbonce, thinking of you mate. Just what you could do without whilst pregnant isn't it. I hope all is well and it get's sorted. Don't stress too much.
