My midwife has been really helpful. I've not read Emma Diray since it was first given to me. I contact my midwife through the community midwifery unit at the hospital. I phoned my doctors to ask for the phone number, which the receptionist gave me happily (I wasn't taking up one of her precious appointments).

I had pains across by bump at 20 weeks, very sharp and lasted all day, would ease for a few hours and then start again. My midwife wasn't sure what it was as it wasn't eased by parcetamol so they got me up the hospital. Spent 3 hours there to be told it was my stomach muscles stretching and nothing to worry about.

Hope you get is resolved or it goes away soon.

Many many twinges to worry about, but the ones I detest most are the ones that last for days on end and you really start worrying. I had a great one down my left side, just above my hip. I ended up blaming baby asking it if it was his fault! Never got an answer though .
But, unlike Emma out of Emma's Diary, I do not have anyone to call to ask. I wouldn't have a clue how to contact a midwife, the doc is obviously not reachable, protected by many receptionists, and the hospital is miles away and in an emergency do I go there or to my nearest?
On the bright side - 24 weeks today! "Your baby would have a slight chance of surviving if it came out now". Another milestone done...

grr... that emma gets on my (giant leaking) norks....

the number i would call to chat to a midwife is on the first page of my maternity notes, it has all the helpful numbers you might need on mine... maybe you should take a peek, you might have missed yours

and i love that 'age of viability' milestone, i remember relaxing a whole lot when i reached that last time

I have a list of numbers on my midwife notes too and would always call and speak to the midwife rather than the GP - my GP is lovely but is obviously not an antenatal specialist whereas the midwives see so many pregnant woment hey have a much better idea of what's normal and what isn't.

My worst thing at the moment is the rib pain - I feel like I can get a whole fist between the lower ribs on my right side and baby seems to spend quite a lot of time kicking up there

was wondering if anyone can help....my last period was 10 days ago and since yesterday i have been feeling really nauseous, headachy and dizzy. Could this mean im pregnant and is it too early to do a pregnancy test? Yes, we been trying for a baby.

if it was a proper period then 10 days would mean you'd be getting around to ovulating now which can sometimes cause nausea - however it's possible to bleed whilst being pregnant - the only way to tell is to do a test but if it's positive it would probably be from May IYSWIM.

wats IYSWIM? Also, the last day of my period was 10 days ago and im sure ive ovulated. I charted it and my ovulation period was between 4 days ago (fri to wed) to tomorrow. Could it be i have ovulated already?
  • IYSWIM = if you see what I mean.

I think it's too early to do a test if your last period was 10 days ago - but if that was a bleed and you actually conceived in May, then yes do a test.

I think the earliest you can do a test is 4 days before you're due on. I did a test on the day my period was due and it was still a very feint line (had to retest as I couldn't believe it) so the earlier you test the more likely a false negative is.

You can buy very cheap tests in places like Poundland.

    Good luck! :j

She's saying the last day of her period was 10 days ago, which means she could be on day 13-16 of her cycle, therefore it is most possible you are/have ovulated around now. But in that case you would not be pregnant yet. Fertilised egg takes what, a week to settle down, so unless you have been pregnant since last month you are just feeling normal hormones.
And in any case, it doesn't hurt to find out late, this pregnancy malarkey makes time drag like nothing else in the world.

if it's the last day then yes you may have ovulated already or be ovulating - most women ovulate around day 14 -18 but that's taken from the first day of your last period (get used to that being the day you make a note of, when it ends isn't relevant)
    - I suspect it's more likely that what you're feeling is because you're ovulating more than you being pregnant but the only way to know for sure is to do a test
