Agutka - you are surely the coolest 9m pg woman around. I hope that if I go overdue, I can take a leaf out of your book. Best of luck for your induction, if that is what it comes to. You have 48 hours ....

I am starting to worry that I just don't care enough!! Or maybe it's just that I wanted/needed to go overdue, so I am only now starting to have a re-think, because it's just not going to happen naturally... I think I would have gone into labour at term plus 14 (like my mother did), but they won't let me wait that long here.
Thank God I wasn't desperate to go into labour early!! Imagine! All that time worrying. No thanks.
Still can't see past the birth though - I'm gonna be a mummy and it's just not how I think of me.

FAC!! You're overdue :p, welcome to the dark side...:D
I am of course assuming your son hasn't fallen out since you last posted...
    :wall:
  • I'm one of the cool kids now, right? I promise to stay calm. Everyone who has been overdue, has had their baby in the end. So the odds are in my favour ;)

He has been doing some spectacular trampolining tonight though, but I think that's just for fun

Between DS and OH, both disturbing me, I have given up trying to sleep. I have come down for a bowl of weetbix and to do some surfing, and I'll try and get back to never never land.

Fac73 - yes I did get my pool in the end. Bought a pool and cover off ebay, and then discovered it didn't have anything else (DH asked if he should bid on it whilst I was a work, so didn't notice the lack of description). Anyway, got the other bits directly from BPIAB co. We still have to blow up the pool, just to check it - perhaps we can do that tonight ! Can officially start use it from midnight next Wed.

And Joe - do you really need us ladies telling you to do what most men have on their brain 24/7 ?

Okay, I am yawning again .....

    Nighty-night

My good lady says "look what happened last time"

I think she has enough pressure, aches and pains with out me being a typical male.

    Oh you typical male !
  • Hope you got to sleep again zoomy. Do check your pool - I bought mine from madeinwater.co.uk after reading about them on here and it deflated overnight. Got to credit the service though as they sent a replacement immediately which is fine and said to return the damaged one 'when I have the time' - lovely :)

I'd also recommend filling it too - I wanted to know how long it would take, if we would have enough hot water, how impatient I would get with OH ;)

Can't wait to use it 'properly' but trying to be patient :A

    Congratulations Ophie-your news is fantastic
and well done squashy, the pain is over and the sleepless nights begin.

Dollop- i too have been having night sweats-waking up with my hair stuck to my neck, i haven't really worried about it, but will ask the midwife when she next comes-(wednesday-i think)

Anyway i came on here to give you an update on how the labour went, so sorry its taken so long, but we have had endless viitors and i had forgotten how much longer it takes to get things done, when you have a little person clinging on to you.

Right, on tuesday night our whole street was hit by a power cut, which sent all house alarms off and meant that i couldn't sleep(particularly with oh's snoring too), it started around 10 pm, so i lay in bed and was very aware of the possible contactions, they continued til after the power cut ended..some hour and 15 later, at which point the oh wakes up and i tell him my contractions are 6 minutes apart, although not v.painful. He panicked and told me to call the babysitter, but i still wasn't convenced it was labour, as i'd had such a bad day and had told myself that the baby would never come. So i waited another hour and mum arrived. Called the hospital who said wait til the contractions are more regular as in 2 mins apart or you feel the need to push before coming in (surely it would have been a bit late by then). So waited til 4 when the contractions were getting unbrearable even with the tens machine.
Parked in the multi storey to find the back entrance to the hospital was locked, so had to walk round and up the ramp to the upper level with contractions every 3 minutes, i must have looked like a right plonker on the cctv.
Got settled in and feared they'd tell me i was only 2 or 3 cm dilated, but was over the moon when they said i was 6.
My waters still hadn't broken and the midwife said that when they did it was all goin to happen very quickly- It did.
The need to push came on, babys head started emerging, waters broke everywhere, turning the labour suite into a swimming pool, and before i knew it they were handing me my baby through my legs (as i was standing). 1 1/4 hours after arriving at hospital she was born!!

And shes a little angel, she slept right through the night on thursday night, and only woke for feeds around every 4 hours last night-i'm sure this will change though. I still can't beleive she's here.
Anyway, she's demanding attention now, its taken me about an hour to write this as she has been feeding, its difficult to type with one hand, particularly my left 1.

Good luck to any of you who are due or over due-particularly you agutka, try not to let it all worry you, you will soon be holding your little bundles of joy too.

Crikey, I'm glad I didn't give birth in your hospital! :o

Great birth story - I always love reading them. And sounds like a fabulous labour. :T :j Agutka, Fac et al, are you taking notes? :p
