Agutka when do you think the last time I could get EITHER knee near my belly? :rotfl: But seriously that is reassuring as I did just about manage to trim my toe nails last night. Had to get OH to paint them though and very impressed with the job he did too!

The pain has not gone but is changing a bit - actually it feels almost like a stitch. Going to self medicate with tea and toast for now.

I hadn't quite realised how close your due date was - do you think having house stuff going on helps with the waiting? You should have been given a list of numbers to call or something should be on your notes maybe? Maybe it's because I'm having a home birth (if the house is ever ready/birth pool ever arrives) but at my last appointment the midwife wrote the number to get her on on almost every piece of paper in my notes folder, I don't think she has much faith in me.

I knew you'd point out the knee/belly thing! It took me 10 mins to breathe and squish my way to putting on my socks this morning! Last time I got OH to paint my nails he did such an artistic job I had girlfriends queuing for their turn for weeks!

Just think... in a few months time pain will start meaning things again, rather than just being part of life! It will be nice to have own body back, however bruised.

I do have phone numbers for the hospital, but there are so many deapartments...

As for house taking mind off things, definitely helps. Any twinges I get are just annoying hindrances, rather than beginning of labour. And of course they go away quickly, so I don't get a chance to wander if this is it.

But I really don't need this anymore... we spent a grand and a half getting a new boiler fitted over the weekend (and this is through a friend of a friend, so cheaper) and already the thing doesn't work! So I was in tears this morning. If I do go into labour I'm going to beg the hospital to let me come in just to use their bath!!

  • Still here with my pains! DH says could it be something I have eaten?!?:rotfl:

Been the loo 'properly' 3 times (sorry if TMI :o) but managed to get a little more sleep. Don't want to get my hopes up too much and definately not telling any family yet!

Just got home to find a letter awaiting me from the doctors surgery. They have made me an appointment tomorrow to discuss the results of my blood test and give the appropriate advice and treatment (Bloods taken 3 weeks ago!!!)
I've had a hospital appointment since then where they realised i needed iron tablets (judged from the same results), Why weren't any other anomolies picked up then?
I'm really scared now, does anyone know what they test for when midwife takes blood?
I called up the surgery and they said there were a couple of things that were low, but couldn't say anything over the phone.
Also, if i'd known that the hospital hadn't checked all the results when i was there, i would have asked the midwife to do it last week.

  • Hi jojo1978

I assume this was your 36 week blood test, which mainly checks for iron levels and platelet (sp?) levels. I had a quick look on nhs direct which explains it all quite well....have a look over there for an explanation.

I don't think its anything to be worried about, plus you are full term now anyway so its a bit late to be dishing out the iron tablets isn't it!

    take care, casper xx

Reckon you are definitely on the labour road. Nature is clearing you out, so that you have no embarressing episodes during labour (or less embarressing bits).

Good luck, and don't keep your legs crossed - it won't help !
  • Good luck Septemberbaby - it can't be long now.

Has anybody else experienced difficulty in breathing deep enough. Does that make sense? I really feel as though i need to breath deeper but the only way i feel as though i have is when i yawn (quite a lot these days). Am 18 + 4 today.

    Thanks
    now mum of 4!!!

    Thanks

I so had that problem even before pregnancy. So when it got bad at about 20 weeks I panicked that that would be it for the rest of the pregnancy. Fortunately, it didn't get worse and even went away after a while. All normal isn't it... Just don't focus on it, as it could probably end in a panic attack. I was promised baby and I were getting enough oxygen anyway, so just relax (doesn't help what with the Downs worries you have) and I hope it passes for you too.

  • Thanks Agutka.

Feeling low and now i can't even breathe properly!!!

I only seem to post with problems and really hope that soon i can help to answer other people's problems and not just ask for myself.

    Hi Everybody,

Good luck Septemberbaby and all else in the labour vibes queue - hope something happens for you all soon! My friend who was also due last Wednesday is still around too.

I have just had my 19 week scan (moved forward one week so we could check if there's a nasal bone as my Down's chances are 1.79). They found no markers, and the nasal bone area appears to be intact. Maybe try this first 3kidsnomoney?

I was quite surprised at how much clearer my 13wk scan was (it was internal though I suppose) and I could only really tell arms, legs and spine. I'm being redone next Thursday though as we couldn't get a good look at the heart, so should be better then. However the sonographer seems quite definite on the sexing - we're having a girl! I was really surprised as I had a feeling it was a boy - will be lovely having one of each. I thought I was carrying the same way as I did with ds, but Mum says that although I've lost a lot of weight in the same places, I'm putting it on my bum like she did with me, and it would explain the hideous sickness (still getting it, but at least in the mornings now, and only nausea during the day). OH chuffed to bits too. Ds (3yrs) just keeps calling it our baby so he doesn't know yet.

Good luck again to everybody expecting action of any sort soon!
