Emma (or anyone else for that matter), at what stage do they consider you in 'active' labour. I always thought 3cm was the norm, but that is probably just from where I come from. I can't believe they wouldn't let you come into hospital. You were (and still were at 6pm last night) absolutely exhausted and that couldn't have been good, or normal ! I trust you haven't (or won't be getting out of bed today) !!0

Hi guys, i came to read this thread as i've been on a bit of a downer today with only 9 days left til due date. I have constant back ache, am not sleeping and the hospital told me 1 week ago, that the baby is already 7lb 8 oz. I go to drop the kids off at school and i hear people talking about me, not in a nasty way, but saying "god-how longs she got left", they all think i have a huge bump. I have felt today that i just cant handle being pregnant anymore.
But i want to say thanks to everyone as having a quick read through has really cheered me up. Congrats to all you who have recently given birth, the photos that have been posted are adorable, i can't wait to hold my little un.
I'm just going to make the most of the little time i have left, and secretly wish that she does come early. After all its not long now.:o:)Henry James Born 18/03/2011-11 days late!:)

Hi just wondering if anyone has been prescribed co amoxiclav throughout their pregnancy had aphone call from receptionist at gps to say doctor has left a prescription for you to collect and this is what it is, having looked online it says should only be used in pregnancy when expected benefit to mother outweighs any potential problems for foetus. I cannot get through to doctors just interested if anyone else has had this.
Thanks0 -
Hiya all
Most certainly making up for my lack of posts today.
MW and student just been and done my homebirth risk assessment.
My HB has gone up from 10.2 to 10.7, and as long as it is above 10.5 they are happy - although it does mean that I still have to take my iron tablets, but I can live with that.
The risk assessment, really only involved my 'health' and not my home, so I am a little bit dissappointed, as I worked my butt of this am, cleaning the place. Hopefully it will stay like this, but I know better.
I moved house on Saturday, and had my home birth assessment on Monday. The midwife asked me where I planned to have the birth pool and all I could show her was a dusty room full of boxes. She certainly didn't seem concerned!
We talked about the cost of hiring or buying a pool too and she really dissuaded me from the expensive option of hiring a heated 'built' pool - if I end up being transferred to hospital or just don't want to deliver in it it would be a waste, so it'll probably be a BPIAB for me too, I just don't want the hassle of needing to top up the water etc - although it might make OH feel more useful I suppose...0 -
Chocholic, do you not have access to a midwife drop in clinic? the community midwives here will see you anytime you want if you are prepared to sit and wait a bit. I was diagnosed with SPD on Tuesday, but stupidly had waited until the pain was so bad I couldn't stand up properly. As my regular MW appointment wasn't until next week, I just turned up at the hospital for the drop in session and got an answer there and then. PLUS loads of advice about how to make it feel better, which seems to be working. Don't know what kind of state I would have been in if I had waited until my regular appointment.
It's not the only time I've been to the drop in clinic, I felt really dizzy and faint at about 20 weeks, and they saw me straight away then.
This is all in Oxfordshire btw, don't know if this service is provided elsewhere, but just to say I have nothing but praise and admiration for the midwives round here, they are fantastic.

Mmm...no...I don't think so. I do have the midwife's number but both times I have phoned her (when I was having a mc during my previous pregnancy and when I was having pains early in this one) she told me to make a gp appointment. I imagine she would say that again. The pain has been better today; only time it really hurt was when I stepped sideways over some benches. plus I always feel a fraud contacting the doctor / midwife - as if they will think I am a hypochondriac malingerer!0 -

and? let them think it!
at least you get the answers you need to help you stop worrying,
update on my SIL... well, i dont see them having any more kids after this experience,
my new niece was only born about an hour ago,
they tried to deliver normally (for far too long in my opinion.... but who am i)
babe got stuck so they tried yanking her out, that didnt work
as SIL had been in labour for 2 days and in hard labour for about 24 hours they went to a c section, and apparently something went wrong with that too...
so they had to knock SIL out completely and threw my brother out of the room,
i got a text from bro at 6.30 saying she was 5 mins old it was a girl, everyone was ok but that he hadnt seen her yet and then i burst into tears!0 -
oh... and while im here a question for all (but mostly izoomzoom and hopeless cook and anyone else who is around the 33 week-age mark or remembers it well)
is your stomach solid most of the time?
i mean really hard... i can feel exactly where he is and its like he is right up against my skin and spreading himself out... its hard to explain, but i dont remember my DD making me feel like a rugby ball
oh.. ignore me, ive had a brain frazzling day! lol0 -
Hi there CG. I am 32 +1 and my stomach is like a rock at the minute!! It is really uncomfortable and seems to happen every evening now. I can't remember feeling like this when I've been pregnant before. This one is definitely a wriggler. I'm sure she's trying to burst out early
Congrats to your brother and SIL, although it does sound like the labour from hell. It is all over now and I bet they've got the most gorgeous daughter :jProud to be dealing with my debts0 -
thanks, nice to know im not the only one who has to plan ahead when trying to stand up!0
