Mmm...no...I don't think so. I do have the midwife's number but both times I have phoned her (when I was having a mc during my previous pregnancy and when I was having pains early in this one) she told me to make a gp appointment. I imagine she would say that again. The pain has been better today; only time it really hurt was when I stepped sideways over some benches. plus I always feel a fraud contacting the doctor / midwife - as if they will think I am a hypochondriac malingerer!
That's exactly why I waited until I couldn't stand up to see mine, but as soon as I phoned and said that I was in pain I was told to get myself down to the drop in clinic the same day. Pain is NOT a normal symptom of pregnancy, and should always be investigated (at least that is what I was told).
Does it twinge when you get in and out of a car seat as well? Basically, the movements I couldn't do without screaming in agony were anything that involved spreading my knees wider than my hips, or twisting my pelvis, but particularly in and out of the car, and rolling over in bed in the night. 36 hours of keeping my knees together (very ladylike!) has reduced the pain to a few niggles.
If you do have SPD, and you may not, then there are quite a few things that can be done to help - there is another thread that I started on Tuesday on this topic, on this board. Obviously I'm no expert at this, but the advice given on there concurrs with what the midwife has told me, and seems to be working to reduce the pain for me.
If they do think you are a hypochondriac, it is absolutely none of their business what you worry about. I myself worry about lots of things that would probably seem immaterial to some people, especially as this is my first pregnancy, but the midwives have heard it all before and are used to reassuring people. There really is no such thing as a silly question - except the ones you don't ask when you need to.

I had (and still have, 26 weeks in!!) a lot of problem with sickness. The main thing is to keep drinking water, so you don't dehydrate. My midwife advised me to have some sort of carbohydrate (bowl of cereal / wholemeal toast or similar) just before bed and it does seem to help a bit in the morning. Also as soon as you get up try to have some more carbs, again cereal or toast and snacking on rich tea biscuits really helped me.
Apart from that it is just one of the many joys of pregnancy that we have to put up with. Most women do lose it by about 12-14 weeks, so try to keep that in mind.Sorting my life out to give a better life to my:heartsmil 2 gorgeous boys :heartsmil0 -

you probably dont want to hear from me (still being occasionally sick at 33 weeks) but... i havent eaten a single ginger nut cos i dont like them either!
have you tried those travel sickness bands you wear on your wrist? you can get them from boots, i know a lot of people swear by them...
personally, nothing has been able to stop me feeling or being sick this time round,
you may find it all stops in a few weeks, it did with my first pregnancy, no sickness or nausea (except for when i smelt the deli chicken in tescos ...blerrrrrgh) after about 13 / 14 weeks.0 -
breastfeeding constantly hoping when milk comes in she might not want feed every 5mins ?
had 3 hours sleep now since sat i look rough ! but am smiling!
Erm - seeing as you've only had 3 hours sleep I'd better not answer that truthfully!
Seriously - with breastfeeding, the first few weeks are definitely the hardest and you will be feeding almost constantly! It does start to ease off a little by the third week and then they have a growth spurt around 6 weeks and go back to feeding little and often again!
You just have to remember that their tummies are so tiny that they can only hold a little bit of milk at a time so they get hungry quicker! Well done for breastfeeding - when your milk does come in you might find chilled cabbage leaves useful!0 -
Is the end of a pregnancy all about suffering? I've been waiting for over a week to get some sort of energy boost or just feel slightly normal, but it just seems to be getting harder every day.
My throat/chest infection doesn't help either. Neither does the state of the house, OR being completely unable to imagine having a baby!
I wish I could go shopping... feel so housebound... and there's suddenly so much to do! Family all busy and hubby is on some sort of career drive...
*cough cough*.....
How sorry for myself can I feel? I don't even feel like eating chocolate :eek:agutka describes it best:wall:0 -
Oh my word thank god for muller rice!! I was in Asda and I seem to have taken a craving for it!! Luckily its on special at the mo!!Everyone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070

Try not to get too down Agutka. Pregnancy (and birth) is probably the hardest thing you will ever have to put your body through. It can be draining physically and emotionally can't it.
I can remember when I was in labour with my son and saying to my husband that i won't ever moan about the state of the house or anything else trivial again - of course i still do all the time. But when you hold your baby it will all be worth it. I am 17 weeks and have to keep telling myself that as my body is feeling the strain already!now mum of 4!!!0 -

When I had mine the midwife said that the baby would feed constantly the second night (she was right), that he'd be horrid and frustrated cos he wasn't getting much of anything on the third day (she was right), that my milk would come in on the third night (she was right) and that it'd get easier from then on... (guess what?)
And if it hurts then get help sooner rather than later. One of the HUGE benefits of me ending up with a c-section was that I was in the hospital for 4 days afterwards and I got help every time I had a problem with latching and have had no nipple pain (it still hurts when my boobs are engorged but even that's getting easier now my body and baby are getting in sync).0
