Chocholic, do you not have access to a midwife drop in clinic? the community midwives here will see you anytime you want if you are prepared to sit and wait a bit. I was diagnosed with SPD on Tuesday, but stupidly had waited until the pain was so bad I couldn't stand up properly. As my regular MW appointment wasn't until next week, I just turned up at the hospital for the drop in session and got an answer there and then. PLUS loads of advice about how to make it feel better, which seems to be working. Don't know what kind of state I would have been in if I had waited until my regular appointment.

It's not the only time I've been to the drop in clinic, I felt really dizzy and faint at about 20 weeks, and they saw me straight away then.

This is all in Oxfordshire btw, don't know if this service is provided elsewhere, but just to say I have nothing but praise and admiration for the midwives round here, they are fantastic.

  • my SIL is STILL in labour (waters broke tuesday morning, and she was 7cms dialated with contractions 3 mins apart at 7pm last night)

I woke this morning (after dreaming about them all night) thinking there would be news... last we heard was over an hour ago, apparently she now has a temperature and the babys is stuck and its heartbeat is all over the place and they were about to decide what to do between tugging the poor mite out or sending her for a c section,
i hope she has had a section by now and everything is ok....

today will be a nightmare til i find out they are alright.

oh bless, sounds much like my labour and birth...
hope you have some news soon
  • Your poor SIL, I hope you hear some good news soon CG.
  • Congrats to Emma! After all that you deserve a well earned rest!

We had decided on the name Pheobe if we have a girl. Pretty sure we won't be using it though, have developed a strange attraction to the colour blue and head straight to the boy's clothes in a shop without realising! My mum said it could be a sign?! I'm not bothered though, as long as it comes into the world healthy and after a not too long and painful labour (I hope)!

Many many many CONGRATULATIONS Sarah and Emma. :D:D

    :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j

So chuffed to hear that you both delivered your gorgeous healthy babies, and so close together too. ;)

Emma (or anyone else for that matter), at what stage do they consider you in 'active' labour. I always thought 3cm was the norm, but that is probably just from where I come from. I can't believe they wouldn't let you come into hospital. You were (and still were at 6pm last night) absolutely exhausted and that couldn't have been good, or normal ! I trust you haven't (or won't be getting out of bed today) !!

After spending most of the last month, either attending training courses, or training at other stores or on holiday, my store reopened last week, and it has been so so so busy. We have had staff drop like flies (or just disappear into never never land, never to be seen again) and all the other managers have been doing 12-16 hour days (although I have generally only done 8 hour days, except one 11 hour day - I came home and then went back a couple of hours later) and most of the other staff have been doing 7 day weeks too - it has been exhausting, for everyone. I officially have 4 weeks of work left (and 4 days holiday too).

I had today and yesterday off, and boy did I need it. DS2 birthday party is this afternoon too, but before then I have my 33 week app with MW, here at home, to do my homebirth risk assessment.

Of course, the house was a tip, so have spent the last 2.5 hours cleaning away, and now I am pooped, and just gonna veg until the MW arrives, probably closer to 2pm, then the 12 noon, slot she said she would come in.

I too don't know what we are having. We have two boys already, and would like a girl, but I am too scared to hope (and be disappointed), so I have also been navigating towards the boys stuff in shops. PG wise, apart from being older, and thus more tired (anaemic), this pg doesn't feel much different to what I remember from the boys, so probably carrying another boy !

The way I figure it, a girl can be dress in bits of blue, but a boy shouldn't really be in pink (although I have done that - just a home though)
