  • oh, bless Emma, that sounds like my first labour. Come to think of it, it's not dissimilar to my second labour...and I'm doing it again because....?

Pink princess, I have a big age gap too (DS-13 and DD - nearly 9). Can completely relate to the feels like the first time thing! What does your 14 year old think about it? My eldest could not be less interested but putting that down to the fact that he's a boy.

Got my 20 week scan tomorrow (at 21 and a half weeks) and I'm excited to find out what it is but scared as my second mc was only picked up at the scan. Pretty sure that won't happen again though as baby is becoming more and more active but I'm still refusing to let OH come with me (he didn't come to DD or DS's scans which were fine, but did come to the "bad" scans that I had - very irrationally i decided it was his presence that caused it and won't let him come. All my friends think that's rotten of me - am I being mad?)

Just had my 38 week check up and everything is fine and normal (even my chest sounds clear, so honey and lemon it is...) but I am very disappointed/confused why I did not hear phrases like 'engaged'. Just that baby is not breech. Surely somebody's head should be moving somewhere, rather than floating... Where did I put all those pregnancy books!!?
The doc did smile and mention that with first babies it is usual to go overdue.

neither of my babies' head engaged at all until I was in labour. i don't think either of them really wanted to be born - neither engaged their heads, neither broke their waters and neither would come out until I got put on a drip that made contractions even more painful! I either have lazy babies or a comfortable uterus!

Ooh, good luck Emma! :j I'll be another person who says that it sounds like my first labour too :D (actually, a bit like the second one as well - I tend to labour over a few days )

About updating your internet buddies whilst in hospital... :p I think a lot of hospitals these days have those extortionate Patientline telly/phone/radio/gaming thingies that include online access as well. My personal experience of them is rubbish though, as the bl**dy thing didn't work. Which reminds me, I was going to write to them and complain (but where do I find the time )

Oh poor hun... *hugs* I've been there - it's crap. But it will be worth it, I promise! :)
  • Redflame - I was waiting until I got a date today before I added myself and the date scan was exactly what the midwife gave me 5 weeks ago - I was quite surprised.

Chocoholic - my dd is sooo excited ( thats the difference with boys & girls) lol I think this one will think it has 2 mums! she said its all shes ever wanted ( a little bro or sister) and I really didnt think I would have any more after such a gap but this is a lovely surprise and so different this time round ( I was still living at home and only 20 when dd arrived)

Im addicted to this site - hope these september lot have some news soon:p

I know how you feel, I was prescribed 3 tablets a day to get my iron levels up from 9.5. Well, I was prescribed 3 a day .... but only took one along with lots of dried apricots and this did the trick for me and got me up to 10.2. If you can stand them, prunes are good for keeping things ... erm...moving!

3 a day, OMG ! My level was 10.2, and then I stopped taking the iron tablets whilst we were on hols (my result was unknown to me at that stage), and a week later when we got back, I was absolutely shattered, so imagine that they had dropped during that time. I feel much better now (compared to a month ago), but tiredness is starting to creep in. Work being absolutely manic, doesn't help either, but I have exactly 1 month left. Woooo Hooooo !!!

I have been taking 1 tablet a day (probably miss about 1 a week), and I have also been taking a sachet of spatone most days, together with a glass of orange juice, and I have been eating my green veggies, and red meats too. Trying to be a good girl !

My level was 10.9 and got told by my midwife that sometimes they don't even give anything for that. In the end I have had to stop taking my 1 a day at the weekend as couldn't cope with the consequences (and colour !) sorry TMI.
Going to midwife on Thursday so going to have a chat with her. Also taking a Fybrogel sachet every couple of days to keep things 'moving' at her suggestion.

Where's the September lot this morning ? No updates yet?

35 weeks tomorrow / 3½ weeks left at work :T
Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.
  • Morning girls....looks like I'm first online!

emma_b any news hun? hopefully things started progressing for you last night.

Have midwife visit this morning then I'm off to rest up at mum's house for the rest of the day, DS will be at pre-school later and today the house will be invaded by DH, 2 electricians and a plumber all working on the new kitchen... hence me not wanting to stick around!!

Will log on later for any updates x
