    izoomzoom,
I hadn't posted but have been thinking about you at this worrying time. I'm glad to hear your calmer now. Hope all goes well and you get the result you want when you have the test.

    All the best

Quick lunchtime question for you folks: If you're unlucky enough to get SPD, does the pain seem to localise on one side and go down your inner thigh sometimes? I have really achey ladybits today, but mainly on the right, and I'm a bit worried it's SPD starting. I have 5 weeks left at work (I'm 32 weeks pregnant) and I really can't afford to stop any sooner, but my job needs me to be bending and lifting and climbing so I'm a little concerned!

I went to a pelvic pain in pregnancy class yesterday and she gave us a full run down on the different types of pelvic pain you can get - SPD is specific to pain at the front of your pelvis.

I've been getting pain in my hips, radiating round to the back of my hips and in the right hand side of my "lady bits". I've had this since about week 12/14, but it has got much worse over the last 3-4 weeks. I'm now 31 weeks. She has basically said we can take parcetamol and cocodomol for pain relief and to take it regularly to prevent the pain levels building up (unfortunately it makes me sick so I'm having to grin and bear it).

We also mentioned a website run by women who have had pelvic pain in pregnancy that is really useful (not had chance to look at it myself) pelic pain website.

Hope it isn't the start of it for you, but there are exercises and other things you can do to help you if it does get worse. It is also worth mentioning to your midwife as they can make a note of it on your notes as some things may have to be done slightly differently during birth if it is bad.

    Hi Guys.

izoomzoom, thinking of you. Hope all is well.

I have 4 weeks 'til my due date. Midwife coming this weekend for 36 week visit. I suddenly seem to be huge although lots of people still commenting on that you would never know if you saw me from the back, can't miss it at the front!

Had my grandads funeral on Tuesday which wasn't too bad and had a few twinges travelling (4 hours each way), was concerned about being so far from home just incase, however luckily all is ok.

Have spent last couple of days trying to get the house sorted for the new arrival and am busily clearing out lots of old toys, books etc. Not quite nesting but probably not far off.

Hope that you all have a good day.

Eels I'd phone your Midwife and get her to refer you to the physio as then you'll get the right advice about everything from getting in and out of bed and how to do your back and pelvic floor exercises. As Welshlassie says SPD is a specific joint but it's not unusual to have pains caused by the loosening of the ligaments combined with softening muscles and the weight of the baby. You may find that it's worse at night and doing things like going upstairs. Don't work through the pain. Try to rest as much as you can. Your work should do a health and safety assessment for you and it's in their interests to change your work if it's needed as you could sue them if you get injured because of work.

We are 32 weeks and I've got a sort of achy pain under the bump at the front and sides. It started as a sharp pain while I was lying down and then changed to aching/throbbing once I sat up. Feels a bit like period pain? Baby seems quite happy as I've been poked a few times since it started. Have waddled about a bit and taken a paracetamol. Am now re-nested in bed. Still feels like period pain to me.

Sorry if it seems silly but as this is my first, every tiny thing is worrying until I find out that it's "normal". :o

Sounds like it could be Braxton Hicks (practice contractions). They arranently (I haven't had any yet) shouldn't hurt but can be uncomfortable and they feel like period pains. Your bump will possibly "tighten up" as well. If they don't pass I'd give your midwife a call and ask her, thats what they are there for.

What a day, I am on such a high... had my scan today at 21 weeks, everything is fine - I had no idea of how relieved I would feel :j the sonographer was great, felt like we were in there for ages, had a good look at the spine, legs and feet, arms and hands, little head and chest, she showed us baby's bladder even, and saw the heart in detail... sooooo much better than last time :D and the pictures she gave us (without extra charge, unlike last time) are perfectly clear, you can even see a little hand by the mouth - the comparison is unbelievable. We are being really un-MSE and already thinking about splurging on a private scan at about 28 weeks, it's so mesmerising!

Anyway, after much deliberation OH and I decided to ask the sex, I'm having a baby boy! The sonographer said she was VERY VERY certain it's a boy, well there was no mistaking once I knew what I was looking at :rotfl: I kept asking 'are you sure', and she said she'd never yet seen a girl that looked like that... I'm over the moon, thought I don't doubt I'd feel any differently if it had been a girl, if you know what I mean... now we can think about names, though if we ever agree I'll be amazed

To top the day off OH has bought an engagement ring... not officially given it to me yet though, think he wants an element of surprise :D But we're thinking of a rushed wedding, we're not traditional types AT ALL, we'd never really plan a wedding for more than a few weeks so are thinking, why not do it now... but we'll see ;)

Congratulations on all counts, Fac73!!! What an exciting day! Glad all went well with the scan and you're having a healthy BOY! Make sure you let us know when OH has officially 'popped the question'!

We booked our 4D scan today for 2 July when I'm 28 weeks and I can't wait to virtually meet and greet my bump!
