yes you can take snacks on the plane but buy water in duty free as you can only take 100ml of liquids
watch you don't overheat in the sun - you may find that you get more ankle swelling etc - you may find that you want to cover up more than usual anyway depending on how hot you feel even when I was in the sun in the back garden here I noticed I got hot much easier than usual and couldn't sit out much
I think swimming is ok but don't dive in - try to get in slowly so your body doesn't' go into shock - and make sure all pools are checked regularly for bacteria
it depends on the state of the water - I thought all EU countries had to abide by certain standards? If it's a 4 or 5 star hotel then it's likely that all water is filtered at least but if in doubt ask and you can always wash fruit etc from a bottle of water if it can't be peeled easily.
take it easy and enjoy yourself!0 -
regarding the sun, unless you have dark skin I would take a higher factor than 15 as you sin can be more sensitive to the sun when pregnant and you are more likely to burn quicker than usual.
Take lots of loose cool clothes as you are likely to feel uncomfortable in the heat and these will help.
Careful what you eat, you should know what is in the food and if you don't ask or don't eat it. Make sure it is piping hot and cooked all the way through. (standard advice for going away but be more stringent than you usually would).
Most of all, have fun, it is likely to be your last holiday as a couple for a good few years.0 -
hi all, i am going to portugal tomoro for my honeymoon and im now 25 weeks pregnant
can i take snacks through check in? we havent flown since last year and security has tightened i think?). It's okay to get stuff on the other side - e.g. Boots if you've got points to use up (that's what I do anyway).
Regarding the swimming, I can't see why it would be a problem. The baby's all cosy and cushioned inside you, and it's not like you're going into water that's really really cold
Most of all, don't worry and enjoy your honeymoon - you'll remember it forever, your last bit of freedom :rotfl:0 -

Hiya all
We had a phone call from the MW yesterday to say that the results of my triple test had come back high risk.
We are absolutely gutted, and unfortunately have to wait another week for our amnio as we missed the opportunity to have it done this week (bank holiday, and problems getting through this am).
Did try and see if we could have it done at another NHS, but they gave some lame excuse, and referred us to a private, which would cost £460. However, I would only get my results 2 days earlier, so decided to just wait.
Although I have just fallen in the high risk - 1:250 (if it had been 251 they would not have called us) it is a horrible position to find ourselves in.0 -
im sorry to hear that izoomzoom, when i was preg last year i opted out of the triple test bcos i didnt know how id feel if the results came back high risk. this year i did get the test done as im much more paranoid.
please try not to worry, easier said than done, as you still have a good chance of all being fine. i dont really know what else to say except i hope the next week goes quickly for you hunxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
thankyou for all advice for my holidays, im going to pack today.
i had to go to hospital last night. i fell and hurt every muscle in my body it felt like! and didnt feel any baby movement for 5 hours, which is a long time for my baby, i rang the ward and they wanted me at A&E. i was there two hours and then they came down witha doppler, took them what seemed like an age to find hbeat but it was there. i have been warned to slow down and be careful. its funny cos i was sooooooo careful in first trimester but then in the second i have felt so well and just steamed ahead. ive learnt my lesson now though and im aching like mad this morning.
have felt a few kicks but not the usual acrobatics. im thinking maybe the pain is stronger than the movements and im just not feeling them as much? also baby didnt wake me last night but maybe that was cos i had the relief of hearing hbeat

oh zoom sorry to hear that, what a worry - it still doesn't mean there's anything wrong but it's horrid to have to wait before you can find anything else out. :grouphug:
and emma  be careful! Hope all the aches ease and baby wakes up a bit more.0 -
i will try and be careful! have nothing to do today except packing and get my eyebrows done (ooooooh hard life!) and then i wont be doing anything for a whole week.....lush.....0

Sorry you're worried izoomzoom. 1 in 250 is still a very very low chance of anything being wrong. I am sure you will be fine. If you had 250 babies 249 would be completely healthy and that sounds like it is very much in your favour to me : )0

izoomzoom - in a way i wish they wouldnt do these tests, but i see why they do. I however think it worries more people than in reality ever need worry. Please dont worry, i know a few women who where told they where high risk and everything was fine for them, as i am sure it will be for you. Think of it like this, if your baby came out with any problems, would you love it any less?
The whole honey and downs baby thing was going on in eastenders at the end of my PG and it had me worried, but i just told myself at the end of the day, it doesnt matter. You will love ur baby no matter what. So just sit back, relax and enjoy ur pg (easier said than done i know) *hugs*0
