Guess where I've been?
The midwife stared at me increduously that I didn't go to hospital immediately on Saturday, made me feel really silly. Then she found protein in the pee and found my sky-high blood pressure 140/90! So she tells the day assessment unit I'll be there in a mo...
Called OH, quite upset that there might be something very wrong, and we spent 4 hours in the hospital having EVERY test under the sun performed.
And there is nothing at all wrong... . Baby was fine, bp normal, urine clear, blood tests normal, EKG bit iffy, but two consultants said nothing to worry about (I'll worry about that later, after baby). They have no idea what caused saturday, palpitations are normal to me, as have them normally, and possibly have started getting carpal tunnel syndrome... What an experience. After all that it turns out to be nothing... wonder what the original midwife was doing getting all those different results... I am to go see her every week just to keep an eye on the bp, just in case...

Best thing about it is that we got to have a nice hot meal in the canteen! Makes a change to pot noodles!

Thank you all for your stories, really thought I'd got some scary symptoms there... but alas maybe I can get on with stuff tomorrow, get ready for baby. (Mother, who took all the baby clothes away to sort out, has been frantically ironing them today, just in case! :eek: )

Not pleasant i know.

Until about 3 years ago when my oldest was 7 we had never had them. So shocked when we first did. In the last 3 years we have had them every summer holidays so this year i gave my kids worm treatment during the hols.

Tonight i discovered i have got them and as i am pregnant i can't have the treatment. I am the most careful person in the world and am always washing my hands and wiping the kids with antibacterial wipes before they eat when we are out.

anybody else had them pregnant. i have had them when breastfeeding and i had to express milk for a couple of days but i can't not be pregnant for a few days. any advice would be great. rang NHS direct who are going to ring me back in about 2 and a half hours (1am!!!). I know its not the end of the world but i am not looking forward to all the cleaning and washing i am going to have to do tomorrow and the constant knicker checking for weeks.

Well NHS Direct have already rang me back, lovely lady on phone. No problem to baby about having worms - just an annoyance and extra work really.

Said that medication can be given but i am not going to take any. Just strict hygiene. Have already given OH and kids their medicine but for me it is lots of hand washing and baths and showers. Hoping that it won't take too much clearing as i am a very clean person anyway.

Checked 2 of my kids (the youngest who are asleep) and they both have them, especially my daughter who has to be repeatedly told to wash her hands. They are all nail biters so that will have to stop.

The joys of parenthood - remind me again why i am having another!!

Heres me checking in :rolleyes: with squatter baby, though not due till sunday officially i do feel like i have a squatter!! my dates make me due thursday though so we shall see. really thought id be early, dont know why, now im trying to resign myself to being late!
got through a whole day yesterday without a phonecall of "have you had the baby yet"

Septemberbaby, i was looking at my nhs pregnancy book yesterday, the page that shows you the baby inside belly and the escape route for baby looks mighty small.........is it too late to change my mind :rotfl: im scared too!! though tbh i have got to the point where ive had anough of being pregnant and bring on the pain! :eek:

Just checking in!!! OMG I'm 6th on the list:eek: . I am so not ready. Off to drag OH to Boots. He has taken the day off because I slept really bad last night worrying myself about this strep b thing. Everything should be fine though, have read loads on the internet about it. The only thing that concerns me is that when my son was just 4 weeks old he was rushed into hospital with suspected meningitis and on a iv drip for antbiotics for a week, I have now convinced myself that I had this last time and that they just never picked it up. All is okay there tho I have a strapping 6 year old son!!!
