hiya i am still here too i went walking again yesterday must have clocked up miles this week! we were out walking for about 4 hours i was shattered last night but no signs yet!

we have got a moses basket for baby to sleep in at first as we have a cot bed and just seems too big for a newborn, plus i dont think we would have much space if we had that in our room! we thought a moses basket would be more convenient

Hi Emma, I'm the same absolutely shattered and willing to give anything a go now, but not castor oil as everyone keeps telling me to try urgh, couldn't stomach it!! I've got a moses basket this time, its the first time I've had one and I'll be using it for the first few weeks. I had though about just lifting the basket upstairs at night and placing it in the cot, which seems to have materialised on my side of the bed lol. Am cleaning the house from top to bottom at the moment, I have no idea where my two daughters (pre-teens 10 and 11) get all the rubbish that I've found under their bunk beds!!
They took my signature away!!!!

i had to laugh at this,im 34 and on my 4th child but i do belive the oldest things r the best,i do swaddle my lill baba who still has no name lol it makes them feel comfy and secure just like there back in the wonb again and its more likely to settle them,i also put him to sleep in his moses basket i dont like putting them in a cot untill theyve kinda outgrown the moses basket, and also the salt water bath remedies for the old war wounds lol yet your not supposed to have salt water baths these days but i think its the best for healing your wounds down below,im a great beliver of all the old methods,so try in bear in mind a lill of what your mum says cause some of them will come in handy at some stage or other,i hope i diddnt sound awfull posting this this way but i can see your mums point, anyhow enjoy baby xxxxxxx

wrap them up so they feel secure, yes... but swaddle so tightly the kid cant move, take a big deep breath or fart properly? no way! :D
mum had us done up so tight that in some of the pictures it looked like she had cut off our circulation!

i had no need for a moses basket last time and i refused to lug the carry cot around so DD went into the cot,
but only at proper bedtime... i started my sleep training right from the start and once i got the routine going in 7 years ive never had a moments bother,
napping downstairs in the pram/basket thats fine (and helps babay learn to fall asleep surrounded by noise... which is a very good thing)
but im a firm believer in night time bath, feed, bed and thats it... no talking when i come in to re tuck or pop the dummy back in, no lights going back on, and no coming downstairs... i know it probably sounds harsh but it worked.

I had salt water baths to try and soothe my stitches last time, im not against "old" methods...(although times, rules and methods have moved on considerably) im more against advice provided by my scatty parent...
trust me dollop if you had met her you would not be giving the maniac the benefit of the doubt!

and your baby still doesnt have a name?? blimey!

  • Okay girls, I have a question, how would I know if it was labour? I have never gone into labour naturally so I'm really not sure what to look for. Sorry if TMI but I've had a lot of discharge this morning and I have really bad backache, and what feels like period pains that just keep coming and going. I also feel as if I need a bowel movement but I don't I have tried lol. Anyone? I've tried phoning the midwifes but their all on their lunch and all I'm getting is the answering mahine!!!

Sounds to me like the beginning of labour. Mine was backache and period pain type pains. Also I kept insisting to the midwife that I needed to go to the toilet and she kept telling me "Nope, that's your baby trying to come". i didn't realise I would feel it there!!

If that is what it is, then good luck!
  • Thanks, its all eased off again but I'm going to keep trying to get through to the midwife anyway and see what they say. I'm booked for a homebirth and I can't get in touch with a midwife lol just as well I'm nowhere near delivering yet lol.

First Baby is due on the 24th November, mother and bump doing so well just now, my question is how did everyone cope with money when they are basically down to one wage, any tips for this nervous dad to be ?
Only one Debt left and thats the Mortgage

    June 06 - £ 99,000
    June 07 - £96,000
    June 08 - £90,000 TARGET
    June 09 - £85,000 TARGET
  • Hi there and welcome! My third baby is due on 15th November.
When we had our first I had quite a good job in London and we were really worried about how we would cope. To be honest, we didn't really find it too bad. We didn't go out as much as we used to, and you will also get child benefit and tax credits. You may be able to get £500 Sure start maternity grant also.
Proud to be dealing with my debts
