  • Hope you're feeling okay today CG, I can't imagine what you are going through. You know you can vent here if you need to.

Emma I hope you're doing okay too, you poor thing, that must've been scary. At least you are alright, don't blame yourself, accidents happen.

    And congrats TSOC! :T

    Hope welshlassie updates us soon.

I've made a doctors appointment for this morning and I'm seeing the same doctor who gave my mum antenatal care so fingers crossed I can get a bit of reassurance this time.
  • Can They Tell The Sex Of The Baby From The First Scan. I Am Keen (i Think) To Know The Sex But My Husband Isn't. Got Scan Tomorrow And Need To Know If I Ought To Try And Talk Him Around.

Think It Would Be Useful To Know The Sex, Particularly In The January Sales.

Did Anybody Find Out The Sex And Find It Took Any Of The Excitement Away.

Also I had my first baby in my teens, 2 in my 20s and this baby will be born when i am 30. i think that the stigma against 'older mothers' was worse when i had my first child as anybody over 30 was 'old'. definitely more acceptable now and i know lots of people who are leaving it later to have children.
    now mum of 4!!!

    :j Congratulations Terminally:T

Frightening how quickly I'm moving up the list after seeming to be at the bottom for ages:eek:

Any other ladies giving up work after the birth of little one?

I'm finishing at 29 weeks (23 Sept) as childcare costs are so high already with 2. Finding it a bit difficult to wrap my head around though as I've worked since I left school and the date is coming up quick, DH keeps joking about how I'll have to ask him for pocket money which ain't helping:rolleyes:

3Kids no they can't tell the sex at the 12 week scan - I think it's after 16 weeks before there's a noticeable difference anyway and even at your 20 week scan you may not be able to see (depending if baby is shy) or may not be told depending on the policy of the hospital. We managed to find out at our 20 week scan and it didn't take any of the excitement away at all - I can't understand why anyone would not want to know but then I always want to know what my Christmas pressies are too :rotfl: As we're begging borrowing and stealing most things for the baby it's certainly made it easier as we've got loads of boys clothes for up to about 9 months and have barely bought anything. We've not gone mad though on decorating or anything.
  • we didnt find out with my first, but really wanted too (and did) with this one...
and im no more or less excited,

its nice to be able to say him and his and use his real name rather than "the baby" and "it"
and its great being able to buy boys clothes rather than all the same old same old bland neutral stuff thats in the shops at the moment.

i had a proper root through the 2 giant bin bags full of my DDs baby clothes to see if there was anything i could use this time and i got loads!
tons of vests and baby grows, and some cute outfits that were slightly boyish on her but it didnt matter cos girls can wear anything! and im so excited about getting to use her snowsuit for her little brother...
its the most gorgeous marshmallow thing! :)

3kids - Justie is right, they cant tell... as the sex organs look pretty much the same for a while longer

    4 days til free re-scan!

    Congratulations TerminallyShort - Bill's a great name for a baby! :T

Emma: hope you're feeling better. :grouphug: Our neighbours have two new kittens that are not supposed to be outside but regularly escape , so I have to be mega careful when reversing out of the driveway - and we all know how tricky reversing can be when one has a basketball instead of a waist! :rotfl:

CG: sorry to hear about your friend :grouphug:

Re: drinking before scans, my letter for the 20-week scan said to ensure a full bladder OR ELSE!!! And of course my scan was 45 mins late so that was fun... Anyway, it's a brand new maternity unit with super duper equipment, supposedly, so no idea why they still make us go through all that?

Had my first "No baby yet?" phone call this morning  (just as I was trying to have a nap while DS was watching TV). No, no baby, and I will let you know when it comes, I'm hardly going to keep it a secret.
