the weight thing again... *le sigh*
why wont these busy bodies poo off and let us get on with baking our babies in peace?
all we need from the professionals is to be told everything is alright, baby is fine... your doing a good job so dont worry,
granted we would still worry cos thats what being or preparing to be a parent is all about,
but I absolutely REFUSE to feel bad about something as stupid as my weight at the moment, if anyone out there thinks im fat (including the docs and midwives) well they can f**k off! im not "fat" love... im heavily pregnant and
my body is damn busy, should it send up the signals that half a pack of biscuits and a huge glass of milk might be just the thing we need to get through the next few hours then im going to have it...
and if anyone even looks at me sideways because of it i will snap them in half and dunk them in my sugary tea
*seeeeeethe*
sorry, but its my most hated of topics, why should we be worried? lets worry a few months (or years whatever, lol) after the baby is born when we can actually do something about it....0 -
Health professionals say I am gaining weight at the proper rate, OH is always commenting how fat I am, only backtracking if I look really hurt (the bump, I meant just the bump), mother thinks I look amazing a glowing and beautiful, and people in the street comment about how neat the bump is.
And I couldn't care less.
After growing larger and larger over the past few years (even for my wedding I never managed to lose weight) I KNOW I am, well, fat. But pregnancy changed my attitude and I love my body. Well, at least *that* part of it. I dread being just fat again, but in the meantime everyone is welcome to comment away. I am pregnant and looking good with it!
And so are all you ladies! :grouphug::wall:0 -
Hear, hear! Chips all round I think
The next person who comments on my size - whatever they may say - is going to have their stomach judged, loudly, by me
Really fancy biscuits and milk now... blame the baby, he is greedy0 -
My MIL refused to take any interest in the fact that I was pregnant until I was about 24 weeks - her reason? It was too early, so much could go wrong.
My OH didn't tell his Grandma I was pregnant until last week because she didn't have a very good reaction the last time and seemed almost pleased when I miscarried.
He reaction this time? "Pregnant again???" (Note, we have two children already, not 9 or whatever!). He then went on to explain that I was further on than I got with my last pregnancy and we were hoping everything was ok, for her to say she knew a women who had 4 miscarriages and the doctor told her that you carry longer each time, so there was still plenty time to lose the baby!
I was fuming!0 -

Just wanted to say a HUGE thanks to you all after my little moment yesterday, you are all :A
Not very MSE of me but decided s0d it, I'm having a new car seat which base thingy and by the time I have purchased that I might as well get a new pram as well! Ordered the Atlan from Mothercare. Was £160 in catalogue but had been reduced to £140, when the last catalogue was sent through there was a code for £15 off £150 and free delivery so treated baby to a bouncer chair (which I wanted anyway) for £12.99 so I basically got the chair free!!
I didn't buy the original car seat and pram so haven't lost anything and it'll be safer for baby. I'll give it away on freecycle instead unless anyone here here needs a pushchair? OH kept saying but you've washed the other pram, so what it kept me amused for a while! Made me dream about prams & car seats all night though!!
As far as weight is concerned tell them all to get stuffed!! I weighed far too much before pregnancy and have only put on 3 or 4 pounds since I was 8 weeks pregnant (now 39 weeks!!). To give you an idea my BMI was 41 at 8 weeks pregnant, but as there was 2 of us I decided I was only half of it!!:j
So my baby has been getting bigger & heavier and I've been losing it!! For once my Nan commented on how my thighs and bum looked smaller, especially from behind! Even though other people wll have put on more weight during pregnancy than me I bet I've got more to lose afterwards than you!! Its simple we are built for comfort not speed, especially when pregnant as we have a special cargo on board and need to make sure it is cushioned well, so all of the food "baby needs" is to protect it by sitting on our hips, bum, thighs etc!!
My OH keeps looking and touching bump and I love it, he even offers to rub cream on my belly to help the stretchmarks! However he is still making up for one comment he made one morning - when leaning over to get some clothes from the floor whilst naked he referred to my boobs as udders!! He thought he was really funny as they were obviously hanging and would soon have milk in them. Its a good job I'm not very athletic and he can move faster than me!!
Sorry rambled on a bit!!:heart2: Charlie born Aug 2007 :heart2: Reece born May 2009

Hi Squashy, and welcome!
The reason the list looks a bit out of date is that some people might go up to a couple of weeks overdue, and we don't know what's happening until they come back and tell us. But the list does get tidied up sometimes.
It's shocking reading about the comments you girls have had to put up with. People really don't think before they open their mouths sometimes. The worst I've been told was stories of her (very late) miscarriages by my MIL when I was expecting DS - that was cheerful. Thankfully she hasn't brought them up in this pregnancy.
Anyhoo, hope everyone's having a nice relaxing Sunday. :T My back is a bit sore so I'm contemplating a walk in the park, see if that helps.0
