Eels he is so cute almost makes me feel maternal! As I'm 37+3 it should kick in soon!!
Now I'm on leave it feels really strange when OH goes to work and I don't, although I feel so huge now I probably wouldn't be able to fit in drivers seat of my car. So when should this nesting instinct kick in? I did start randomly dusting yesterday and then got a grip on myself and decided my embroidery was more fun. Midwife said today the baby was engaged and my bump had dropped and baby could make an appearance at anytme!!! Only just the cot mattress delivered today am so not ready for the idea of baby being here!
Need to get hospital bag done, what have you packed for you in the bag? I have a few vests, nappies, wipes, cotton hat, mittens, a couple of outfits (just in case baby gets messy!), shawl/blanket for baby. Then maternity & breast pads, a camera but what else will I need?:heart2: Charlie born Aug 2007 :heart2: Reece born May 2009

What are the best washable breast pads ?
)
I really hardly used them at all with DS as I leaked so much they just weren't up to the job.I love the eco-friendliness of washable breast pads, but I'm afraid I'll probably be forced to stick to disposables.

:hello: Eels - what a cutie! Glad the C-section itself wasn't too bad - it iwas the thought of what was going to happen that worried me far more than the actual process! Now after they've sent you home with a baby, you will remember not to lift anything at all, won't you! :rotfl:
Welshlassie - thinking of you!
Jtotheb - love the blog! May even copy your idea of weekly bump photo's if I ever get pregnant!
Breast pumps - I used the Ameda double pump for when I went back to work, as I'd need to express quickly during my lunch hour. However I found that I couldn't hold both of my enormous breasts in place over each "squeezy bit" (technical term escapes me) & fiddle with the knobs/switches to turn it on! Just not enough hands! :rotfl: I did find it quick to express though, & could drain both breasts one at a time in 25 mins! I didn't get much past the first level of suction - couldn't bring myself to turn the dial up!
IMHO Bravado are the best nursing bras - so comfortable & easy to do up one handed! I had a wonderful leopard print Bravado bra when feeding my eldest - shame that design isn't around now. I did pass on the matching pregnancy thong though... :rolleyes2
Came on this morning so I'll be on the TTC list for a while yet & as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

Eels, he's adorable! :T I want my baby NOW too!!! :j
And welcome to the world of "dignity, what's that?" LOL :rotfl:
My hospital bag is nearly done, just need to shove in a towel and a dressing gown but I'm sure I'll have time for that when things start happening. I'm opting for a reasonably small bag this time, as we're quite close to the hospital so DH can fetch stuff if needed.
My tummy has been a bit PMT-like the last couple of days - no cramps but sort of tenderness IYKWIM. I'm hoping it's my bits getting ready :j Also, the moodiness is back as well :eek:0 -
eels - he is GORGEOUS!
right girls... i had my antenatal appointment today, all was going well, good strong heartbeat, nice reasurring chat with the lovely midwife... then she measured me,
im measuring at 30 weeks.... FIVE weeks ahead of my dates
what the blue f**k is that about??
she said it could be gestational diabetes, but doubted it... because there isnt any other signs,
she said my dates could be right off, but we doubt that as my 10 week scan put my EDD back 4 days, and also the 21 week scan would have picked up something weird,
she said the baby could just be having a 'big' day, loads of fluid etc
or it could be a bloody massive baby, in which case i will probably deliver early by C section (as my full term DD was 7lb 9 and she got stuck on the way out, the MW doubts they would even let me try deliver a whopper!) *phew*
so, i have an appointment with a consultant next friday, if he thinks im measuring ridiculously ahead then i will get another scan that day to see whats going on, and then see where we go from there
we are not worried, im thinking its just me being a bloater (lol) or its a big bubba.... or, as we were convinced we were having twins at the start then we would still be over the moon to find that baby B had been missed at my 2 scans ...not likely, but .....
we have our 4D scan on tuesday and we are going to get them to tell us how far they think we are, and to have a really good look and make sure there is only one,
anyone else measured weeks ahead?0 -
That's weird CG...
Didn't Becles have something similar - she was really big towards the end due to excessive fluid or something (sorry, can't remember the proper term for it)? I'm not saying you've got the same thing BTW, but at least there's someone here who's measured really big.
At least you've got a scan next week to make sure there isn't another baby hiding in there!
Hope you find out soon what's causing this.0 -

Oh, how adorable is Baby Tom!!! Mr & Mrs Eels, you must be so proud! x
CG, I was measuring 33 weeks last Thurs when I was only 31 (not quite 5 weeks, I know!) but the MW said it was nothing to worry about (yet!). I'm now being seen fortnightly and if its still off the scale next week I will be referred to a consultant. I've already been cleared for diabetes so thats one thing crossed off the list...hope baby was just having a bad day and doesn't turn out to be a 'whopper'!

thanks!
well if it is a whopper it will be coming out of the trap door!
if my well under 8lb DD got stuck, im not even going to try and push out anyone bigger... it could be dangerous (for me, the baby AND the doctor who suggests it!)0
