My wife and I are looking into what to do about breast feeding. She desperately wants to but it's going to be difficult with twins. Alot of the books suggest using breast pumps so that I can get involved too. Anyone got any experience of these things? I have to say, we watched a video of the twin electric breast pump on the Avent website - we couldnt' stop laughing!

  • My wife gave birth by c section on Thursday to our little girl, we named her Isabelle.

She has been breast feeding for the last 4 days but is having real truuble with her nipples. They are very tender and bleeding. She has done amazing up to now so am looking for some advice. I went out last night and bought a breast pump and she has been expressing today.

Anyone have a similar story, what was the eventual outcome? Any advice??

    Thanks

Mercury, did you buy a manual or electric one? I've heard electric are much better / easier.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter!:T

I had same trouble when breastfeeding ds. I used kamillosan cream, this is fab for healing quickly, also regularly express small amount of milk and spread over nipple and let dry in the air - might sound odd but really does work. Make sure baby is latching on properly (ds just couldn't latch on which is why I ended up so sore) - your midwife should be able to check/advise - dignity out the window again I'm afraid!

I continued to breastfeed ds up until last month (he was 23months old) his choice more than mine:rolleyes:

Been awake since 5:20am and trotted off downstairs with my Your Pregnancy Week by Week book and watched some preg progs on Discovery (my new best friend :rotfl:). Is too much information a bad thing?!?

    morning all :j

just starting to think about my hospital bag, i have my things sorted but as far as baby things go, how many baby gros and vests do i take? it says six of each on my list:confused: i am a low risk and so have been advised of the 6 hour discharge, so i am packing presuming i do get that, and if not mum has a key for house and will pick the extra things up for me afterwards, if hubby cant.
also, how many breast pads should i take?!:o

just out of curiousity, for any of you who know whether your baby is boy or girl, are you taking blue/pink things in with you or playing it safe with white? i thought i might take a couple of pink things in with me. im finding the weather a nightmare, i wish it would make its mind up!!

im going to aquanatal today, never been before and im really nervous :o

anyway have a good day everyone!

6  I'm not planning on being in that long (well hopefully won't be in at all) - my lists don't specify how many and I figure if we're in for any more than a day OH will have to come home anyway so can bring more in. I have put in a mixture though of little and slightly bigger newborn as I have some that are for under 7lbs and some for bigger babies. I've also put in mostly white but the going home outfit is blue - if baby turns out to be a girl then we'll just keep her in the babygro ;) And I'm taking a few freebie disposable breast pads with me and then my washable ones of which I have about 12 so that should be plenty - I don't think there's much leakage with colostrum, it's not like if you're leaking milk. I just bought a cheap thin dressing gown from the supermarket too so I have something to fling on over whatever I'm wearing or not. Must remember to pack some towels though...

oh and I've packed a cool bag with drinks and snacks too - although there's no way OH will be able to cope with all the bags etc if we have to transfer to hospital :rotfl:

    Morning

I have packed 2 bags, one for 6 hours, and one for if it goes any longer. I will have both in the boot, so DH can pop out and get the other bag if we have to stay any longer.

I have packed a few babygros, and a little outfit, cotton hat, 3 nappies, maternity pads, only 4 breastpads, as last time I didn't leak and DD wasn't feeding either. I have aalso packed a thin blanket, as not sure what weather our wonderful summer is going to send us!!!

One thing about the towels, if you are staying in....I used the hospital ones directly after the birth. When on the ward, best to take some DARK coloured towels!!!!

I look like I am going away for a couple of weeks, 1 small case for labour, 1 case for if in any longer, 1 case for DD and her blow up bed!!!!!

I have tried to keep things to a minimum, but left thigs easily accessible for DH if I need supplies.

I can't believe August is here........and Baby could appear at any time!!!!:j
