Alison is there a particular reason you want a lie flat car seat. Will baby be in the car seat a lot in the first 2 months? Most of the car seats have foam pads to flatten the seat so that they're more flat for a newborn and it's unlikely with a newborn that they'd be in the seat for more than the recommended 40 minutes often as they need feeding etc a lot. Once they get a bit bigger then they fit the seats better anyway. I just don't trust the safety of them enough to go with a lie flat seat for the amount of use it'd get...
Hiya
Yeah my friends have a lie flat car seat and like me they live in Southampton and her Mum lives in plymouth - Just like me! She has a JANE lie flat car seat (which for safety reasons I would not buy) however the idea of a lie flat car seat seems brilliant. My friend drove to Plymouth when her baby was 4 weeks old and she slept the whole way - 3 1/2 hours. Yay. We have famly all round the country and it would work much better for us to have a lie flat car seat you see.
The which report basically says the lie flat - carry cot style baby seats are unsafe - however I want this one Bebeconfort which I think would be a safe alternative.

She has not fed the baby on her breast for a day now, she has been expressing as much as possible. We bought a manual one and it is really good she is expressing about 3oz every time! I have named her daisy! Isabelle has had about a small carton of sma gold over the last 36 hours so is still getting lots of mums milk.
I am worried about her not feeding on the breast that her nipples will get sensitive again? When she was feeding on her she was latching in really well.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Aw mercury, congrats on Isabelle and my sympathies to your poor missus. Lansinoh is what I have used religiously (I was smearing it on before they took me to theatre
- I have a fear of sore nips!) and as long as I put it on after every feed it has helped loads. I had problems to start with because Tom was desperately hungry and my colostrum wasn't satisyfying him so he sucked furiously. I spent a long time with the midwives making sure he was latched properly which definitely helped ("it's breastfeeding not nipplefeeding!") but once my milk came in (and I'd got over the engorgement issues which made matters worse initially) it eased. I think the best advice I can give is to make sure the nipple is heading as far towards the roof of Isabelle's mouth as possible and she covers as much of the areola as she can with her lower jaw - that way she'll be sucking the boob rather than the tender nips.
Gosh, pregnancy and birth fairly put an end to any semblance of dignity, and they've definitely resulted in a complete loss of any concept of "too much information" on my part!
I'm glad some of you found my long ramble helpful. I remember so clearly how worried I was about the whole maternal feelings/caesarean section business. If anyone wanted reassurance they'd be welcome to PM me, I'm busy these days but would do my best to help because it's such a terrifying time and I got so much help from people here.0 -
Here's a pic - just a few hours old!0

:grinheart there are some things that melt even my heart - what a cutie he is, Eels. I am having more and more moments lately where I think that I actually can't wait to meet my baby and am looking forward to it. Then I catch myself and panic again
After laughing at Agutka coming into single figures of weeks left I realise that I am 30 weeks today. Oh boy oh boy oh boy. I keep going on about this being a planned pregnancy, conveniently forgetting that this planning was one drunken night over Christmas, somehow we ended up asking ourselves 'shall we try for a baby? ahh okay then, they're cute! hic!...'
Oh, and today I got a lecture from my mother about why I should have at least two children - where do they get the idea that this is just what you want to hear? Inappropriate and unnecessary and it made me bloody angry actually
Am going to shop for bags and or shoes to cheer myself up, in the absence of being able to fit into any nice clothes, ever again probably. Hmph.0 -
He is beautiful Eels, but I guess you already know that
. Can you believe we MAKE those? How cool is that?
I have got to move my keyboard closer. I have it at the back of the desk and I keep pressing bump into edge of desk to reach it and type properly. And it's hurting me! Pooey. Think I am growing...
Incindentally I must show off... I have a rather lovely neat bump. Very happy with it. Although it does mean that I keep getting stuck (especially since we have boxes piled everywhere) as I don't realise how far in front it goes. Reminds me of when my doggie was growing up, she went through a phase of not realising just how big she was and kept knocking things over with her bum :rotfl:.

Agutka,
Week on week it amazes me how fantastic my wife's bump looks. We're taking pics every week on a Wednesday (28 week pic this week!)
Amazingly, some weeks the growth is MUCH more than others. I presume this is normal!0 -
