Well girlies, here it is! I'm really sorry to say it but thank you all for having a rotten time recently - reading about all the aches and pains and toilet trips and crap sleep has cheered me no end, knowing my time is up! I spent last night howling because I quite like my life and I'm so happy with OH and everything's just fine as it is and I don't see how a baby could possibly do anything but disrupt our lovely set-up ...
... I know, a bit late to be worrying but I can't help it, I've always been one to leave things to the last minute!
Yesterday was a complete waste of time really - we spent over 3 hours waiting around, during which time they took some blood and got me to sign a form - and the section won't be 'til late, late afternoon today so I'm sure it could all have been done this morning . Never mind, they were busy and very lovely and at least we got to ask questions and check out the single room they're going to give me for the first 24hrs :T.
Can I just warn anyone having a section that the worst thing about it is your families knowing what's happening - I don't mind OH's mum and sis coming to stay while I'm still in hospital because they'll look after him (he's a bit melancholy - he lost his dad several years ago and having a baby obviously brings up a lot of sad stuff) but all the rest of his family are descending on Saturday - I might not even be out of hospital by then . Looking back we should have kept the date a big secret ...
Right, I'm off to have my weetabix (am allowed brekkie cos op isn't scheduled 'til what feels like the middle of the night) - OH thinks I should have a big cooked breakfast but I wouldn't enjoy it for thinking about the constipation to come (sorry TMI!) so I'll stick to old faithful :rotfl:
Thank you all so much for such fabulous support (oh god my hormones, I'm getting weepy - AGAIN!) over the last 9 months, you've been just BRILLIANT. I will be back online eventually to give you all the gory details, but for now can I wish you all the very best with your bumps and all the accompanying joys- bye!

Hello all, firstly Good Luck to you all (or congratulations, depending!!)
Just a little tip. The one thing that I found very helpful is a sleeping bag/grobag. Half the time we all worry about the baby kicking the blankets and sheets off of them and getting cold, and then spending half the night covering them back up again. You lose enough sleep having to feed them in the middle of the night, without having to keep them warm too!
You can get them from the weight of approx 7lb onwards and they are a godsend.
They don't have to be expensive, you can buy them new from the normal auction sites, second hand places. But I would suggest getting a good quality one, as sometimes the material shifts inside the grobag when they have been washed, making it a little lumpy in some sections and thin in other bits!
Hope this helps someone!0 -
Oh, Eels - your first para is on my mind a lot too - all I can say is trust what everyone says - I am - that you couldn't imagine how happy you will be
Very very best of luck for today - can't wait to hear all about it :T0 -

Ohhh Eels how exciting, by the end of today you'll have met your little one. All the best and enjoy. Don't worry about the family, just enjoy your time with your baby in hospital before they all arrive and if they are anonying you and getting in the way, tell them and then blame your hormones (they will still be floating around at that point so perfect excuse). I know what you mean about the changes to your life with DH, I'm a bit concerned about that as well, but I'm sure I'll forget all about my worries as soon as baby arrives.
Alison - We have the I Love My Bear range from Toys R Us. Really gorgeous, quite a bit of it on Ebay (although do check the price on Toys R Us website before buying anything on Ebay (used) as they sometimes sell for more than the Toys R Us price (new)).
Welcome to all the newbies, this thread has been fantastic for me for the last 12 months.
I came home from mum & dads last night to find DH has bought a Wii, he played on a friends last weekend and is now addicted. My friend says it has been great for keeping them occupied on evenings when baby is in bed and they can't go out (instead of watching TV). Its also going to be great to get a bit of exercise after baby arrives.
I woke at 5:45 with cramps, they passed but I'm getting a couple of twinges at the moment. I had another show yesterday so fingers crossed I might actually have something to report in a day or so. I haven't told DH yet as he'll rush home from work and I don't want it to be a false alarm. I 'm going to my friends around the corner for coffee a bit later so might analyses my symptoms with her (her baby is 5 months old) and decide whether to call DH or not.0 -
sorry ladies if you already know the information I am giving you, but I am just trying to be helpful! (I have taken a lot of information from this website and I am trying to give a bit back somehow!!)
This is a very good thread, but as well as this, there is a website called mumsnet.com which helps all mums to be, the befores, durings and afters and they also provide money off discounts to certain stores when you join them.
I'm sorry I don't know the ladies that are due to "burst" - I hope everything goes well for you, just remember that they are worth it in the end! When they smile at you for the first time, it really does make you want to cry with happiness!0
