It's things like this that wind me up. 'Fast Transfer Fee'? I wonder if I can pull that stunt when I sell a car.
The offers being altered is something I've also heard. There have been many stories on the Internet where people have made an appointment then the day before the appointment, £50 has been knocked off for 'Market Value Fluctuation'. Very shady.
It's actually worse than that, it's £24.75 for next day payment, from here : http://www.webuyanycar.com/FAQ/when-will-i-receive-the-money/We will pay you directly into your bank account which takes 4 working days after the day of sale. We also offer an optional next working day payment service which costs £24.75.Where the Price is between £145 and £2,999.99, there is a transaction fee of £49.99. Where the Price is £3,000 to £9,999, there is a transaction fee of £74.99. Where the Price is £10,000 or more, the transaction fee is £99.99.
They do provide a service, but it is very much aimed at people who are desperate or in a rush to sell, and is therefore suitably shady (like these poor credit loan brokers with £60 joining fees). If you're using WBAC, then you're probably not able/willing to sell privately.0 -
They're opportunists.
People use webuyanycar because they need to sell a car fast. Maybe they're broke and an insurance renewal has come up that they cant afford so they want to do a quick sale or something.
Or travelling abroad, changing cars and stuck in a spot where they can change their vehicle on the policy but can't have 2 simultaneously etc.
So they know their customers are desperate to get rid of their car and they're throwing these fast transfer fee bs around.
If someone is broke and needs to sell their car to pay debts you can bet they'll get the fast transfer fee. Opportunists.0 -
Yup, and it's potentially worth doing if you're in a rush, but it really does just set the tone for what to expect.0

If you must use them I've heard that if you obtain an online quote but do not book an appointment then wait a week they contact you and increase their offer.0

I am looking to sell my car as have been given a company car, and cant really have two.
I tried to sell through webuyanycar, however they were offering ridiculously low prices well below anything else online. so in the end I ended up posting on ebay.
still not sure whether it is the best option, but its done now:
Renault-Megane-Scenic-2004-Silver-/291142152751 had to sell for between £350 and £850. which is still slightly better than the other offer.
I wouldn't recommend webuyanycar.0 -
Just sold a car through them and it was ok. I obviously could have got better if tried to sell it privately but don't think I would have got more through another dealer or part-ex and it was very easy. When I valued the car online I put down a lot of faults and came out at £1900. After the car check there were some more including a big one of a cracked bumper and some pin dents in the doors I hadn't noticed. When all put in the computer it came out with a price of £1200! The person I met didn't have authority to negotiate but called somebody in head office. Straightaway he raised to £1500 and eventually £1650. Not top price but a few things they didn't spot as well which a private buyer checking more thoroughly or going on a test drive might have spotted. My guess is maybe if I had spent £200-300 on repairs might have then been able to sell it privately for £2500 but would have taken a while.0

Yeah, yeah. You're quite obviously a shill (just check his post history, it's rather blatant!). TBH, this sort of underhand behaviour puts me right off using UK [STRIKE]Car[/STRIKE] Scum Broker.0 -
