I sold my car to WBAC in July. On first inspection they knocked off nearly £900 in 'damages' (lots of minor things which added up). Told them 'no deal' as I needed a certain amount to clear the remaining finance. Without even having time to think the guy agreed to reduce the damages to sub-£500 to get the car.

I could have pushed further but got the figure I wanted and got the car sold within an hour.

2 months on, looks like the car has yet to find a new owner as online tax checker shows it as being untaxed.
You were right to haggle, but they probably still had you. They're an oily bunch of !!!!ers... avoid like the plague.

Got a quote for a Rover 220Gti for £50; sold it for over £300. WBAC will only give you the min. based on car age, irrespective of mileage, extras, condition etc etc. Wouldn't bother with them. If you want to sell a car, advertise elsewhere ---- you're more likely to get a better price.

Out of curiosity, what were you expecting them to offer you? If they take £250 gross profit a car, then they were bang on.

I bought a car early last year for a mate - local selling it privately wanted £1200 which seemed cheap for the make and age of the car - it was a Fiat in good condition. Did a few checks on the web and private sale value was pretty much around £1500 everywhere I looked. Then went on Webuyanycar, and the owner had had a valuation done and been offered £750 even before they'd seen it. Got it for £1150 as needed a new tyre, everyone's a winner, except the rip off merchants on the web.

You do know that the trade price of a £1500 car is around £750?

You asked a trade buyer to bid you a trade price and yet you still seem surprised?

They'll make reasonable trade offers for cars they want, and low ball offers for cars that are hassle for them.

That's what us people in the trade call scrap value!

On the basis that a rover 220 is at least 15 years old did you really expect them to give you a massive sum for it?

I wanted to sell my car quickly (I'd already taken delivery of the replacement) so I opted for webuyanycar as I didn't want to be messed around - my car was a bit boy racer and I was concerned I'd get a lot of time wasters.

I arrived a little early whilst they were dealing with a bloke in front of me so I heard all of their transaction and it turned out with great cosmic co-incidence that they found faults on both our cars that came to almost exactly 10% of the "offer" price - his offer price was 5k and mine was 9k.

It is so amazing that a door ding (the type of tiny ding you get when someone hits your car while opening their door in a car park) reduced the value of my car by almost exactly double what it reduced his.

Now, I negotiated a price I was happy with and I am satisfied with the process - the salesman was nice enough and I didn't have to negotiate hard but you need to be aware that they will knock 10% off the offer even if your car is in damn good nick

Just be prepared to walk - other bloke had also rejected the offer and they refused to budge so I guess they just wanted my car more than his.

I agreed a price with We Buy Any Car but could not drop it off for 48 hours. When I took it back it was re-inspected at a lower value. I showed them an offer from a main dealer which brought the price back up which also covered their £75 admin fee.

I was then offered the money as a 2 hour bank transfer for £29, I said no so I was told they could do it for just £9.

I thought the offer was OK but they will sting you if they can.

I sold my old car to WBAC yesterday. Quite happy with the price I got. We started at £1570. An inspection of the vehicle brought up nothing major - the odd scratch and paint chip here and there, scuffed alloys. He put the whole lot in to the computer, showed me how much each fault was worth. The value of each seemed perfectly reasonable. Came out at £1420 minus their £49.95 admin fee in the end.

TBH I was hoping for £1200, and was worried that I'd get less, so I was very happy with the final price.

actually i was looking to sell my Audi A4. Trust me there is many other companies offer way more money for your car than we buy any car with more convenience.
