We had an online valuation for our W reg BMW 323 CI Coupe which came out at £750 with less than 1 months MOT and a rust patch on the front right wing.
Drove the car to the centre in Crayford, Bexley and they valued it at £105 !
As you can see a massive difference and a complete waste of time, I can get more for it scrap.
If you have an older car I would not bother with we buy any car.
Please take the time to leave a review for them as their reviews are amazingly virtually all five stars and have a habit of naming specific staff.

I left a review a few years back, and as you say, the next four reviews are 5 star with names and places "I spoke to Richard from the Cheltenham Branch".
In my case I was helping out a friend, she desperately needed the money. She organized the appointment online, not really thinking very straight and then felt very nervous about going along alone so I went instead.
The vehicle wasn't too old (53 reg and it was 2008) and I had a good idea how much I'd pay if it was me, so that value was in my head. I was also in the lucky situation of owning a very similar car by the same manufacturer, so I was fairly comfortable with the electrics and mechanics etc.
Their offer was short of that price right from the off, but she was happy so I went along. I figured, rather than walking in with the "I know it all" attitude, I would allow them to go about their business as if I was a complete novice.
To say I was disgusted would be an understatement. I was amazed as the fella went round the vehicle with a fine tooth comb, trying to pass simple things off as serious defects. It's been a few years now but the ones I specifically remember:
- Tried to claim a blown boot light bulb was a defective microswitch in the boot lid which would cost upwards of £150 to repair. When I said "I think it might just be the bulb" (as novice-sounding as possible) he responded "well you know, these bulbs are VW specific, so worst case scenario it'll still be a good £20-£30 to fix". Boot light bulbs are about £1 each off eBay and they don't have microswitches in the boot lid, they're located in the door lock and are triggered when the cars unlocked. !!!!!!!! trigger on high alert.
- Claimed the rear shock absorbers were blown (there was a tiny amount of fluid at the top, nothing abnormal and certainly not requiring replacement) and that this is quite a big job. Three bolts each side and roughly £70 for a brand new pair. Don't even have to remove the springs.
- Found various microscopic scratches that could probably be buffed out with Poundland scratch remover.
- Finally, he asked if it had been in a front-ender. I informed him that I wasn't aware of it being in any accidents. He pulled on the front grill and claimed that it doesn't sit flush meaning it's almost certainly been in a front-ender and this will drastically reduce it's value. In fact, the reason it doesn't sit flush is because it's been removed to replace the bulbs in the indicators. There are four plastic clips which hold the bumper flush and they usually break upon removal meaning you have to buy 4 more from the dealer at about 20p each. Most people just forget about them to be honest, but the point is he was lying.
His revised price was less than half of what I was expecting, nearer a quarter.
I walked out there and took the vehicle away and it was eventually sold privately.0 -
I struggle to understand their current adverts. It states people have saved hundreds, if not thousands by going to the dealer with cash. Whenever I have come to car change time I have always compared webuyanycar with any trade in prices offered by dealers. Webuyanycar has always been the same or lower than offered by the dealer. When I negotiate a new car price I always get them to advise the cost to buy the car without trade in, the price changes very little (if at all) if we then discuss a trade in.
So how does selling your car to webuyanycar save you hundreds or thousands?0 -
The idea is that if you don't take a trade in you'll get a better deal, since you're inflated trade in value is compensated for with the offer price.
They give you the same or less than trade-in and allow you to do a no trade in deal. The figures they quote only make sense if you're buying brand new as well, where discounts of that kind of level are possible. It's completely misleading though, as they could be buying anything. You could easily save £10k buying a high end car without a trade in from another marque (i.e. trading in an old Jag for a £60k BMW).
You'll almost always get a better deal selling privately and then buying without a trade in.0 -

It's pretty well buried already.0 -
Surely this is a case of you take your money and makes your choice.
They are obviously in it to make money and have to pay overheads. You are never going to get as good price as selling a vehicle privately compared to using them.
They offer you a price and you have a chance to accept it or not.
When you turn up, if your vehicle is not in the condition as stated, then they offer you a reduced price, which you again have the choice to accept or not.
For me, I'd never deal with them, like I'd never take a trade price, unless the vehicle is of such little value that it's more hassle then it's worth to sell privately.
Anyone who uses them deserves to be screwed over on price if they are to lazy or ignorant to sell privately without expecting to receive a lower valuation.Search my post " PoPLA evidence - What to submit" on what is a good defense for a PoPLA appeal.0 -
I got a price from we buy any car when i ordered my new car through UK car broker and in the end uk car broker offered me more money for my old car. Will0

They certainly offer the very bottom end trade in value, so you'd probably get more elsewhere.Custard_Pie wrote: »When you turn up, if your vehicle is not in the condition as stated, then they offer you a reduced price, which you again have the choice to accept or not.
That's the claim certainly, but apparently they have targets to knock that value down even further (by at least 20%?), with many of them making very suspicious claims to do so. When I did it I'm sure I was told the buying price dropped in the day between booking and the appointment. I still went for it in the end because it was going to go to auction anyway.
I think if you go to them eyes open, and expect them to offer 50% of their quote, then you'll be fine. But I haven't yet heard of anyone on here being offered the actual quoted figure.
Then there's the "buying fee". I've never understood how that's anything but a scam - they make a profit on selling the car on, so why charge £50 to buy it from you? Nothing else I've ever sold has had a buying fee.
And of course the fast transfer fee. For something like £20 you can have the money in your account in 15 minutes, otherwise it'll be 4-5 working days.0 -

The offers being altered is something I've also heard. There have been many stories on the Internet where people have made an appointment then the day before the appointment, £50 has been knocked off for 'Market Value Fluctuation'. Very shady.0 -
i like the dubious review titled.“more than they quotedâ€
As if their staff will shoot themselves in the foot and increase the offer when the buyer has already seen the quote. Been happy with it and popped round to do the trade.
What idiot in the right mind will just offer a discount when the customer has received a quote, appeared happy with it and is about to sign the deal??
What BS0
