Have you read their "reviews", it's quite amusing.

    http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews169436.html

It would appear that they employ more people to write reviews than actually buy cars....

I am sure that when selling my car on a wet industrial estate I would make a careful note of the person's name and then create an account online to sing their praises.....

  • I just thought I’d share my experience of wbac.com.

I needed to sell my car as we’ve moved to an area where having one is more of a hindrance than a help. As I’m at work all day in the week I didn’t want to have to deal with people coming to see the car in the evenings or weekends so thought I’d give wbac.com a go.

The car was an 06 reg Suzuki Swift that had done 51000 miles or so. I’d had it for 5 years, and one other person had owned it before that. The initial valuation was around £2650, and after I entered the damage, etc (dent and scratches to the front bumper) this dropped to £2300. I took the car to the local branch (just had one call and one text to remind me), and the chap noted another set of scratches (I knew they were there, I forgot to include them because I re-booked the appointment in a hurry after my initial quote expired). He mentioned that the suspension sounded noisy, but that because there had been nowhere for me to report that on the website it wasn’t something that he could add either, especially as he wasn’t able to physically look at the suspension himself. The additional damage he found (quite deep scratches to the wing of the car) took the value to £2100. Then there was just the transaction fee, so I walked away with £2050. It was easy, quick and I felt that the man I dealt with was honest and professional – I didn’t feel bullied or pressured into selling it at all. It was taxed in the disabled class and this didn’t phase him at all.

I probably could have got more selling it privately but I had a quote of £400 to repair the bodywork from a garage and even if I’d paid that I don’t think I would have got much more than an extra hundred quid or so. I didn’t even have to wash it doing it this way!

So, I got the amount of money I wanted and it really was very easy. Obviously other people’s experiences may vary, but mine was good, though I suppose I did go in knowing I was going to perhaps not get the most amazing deal.

It's far cheaper to replace panels than try and get it fixed in a garage. For my golf a panel in good condition costs just £30, but that;s because it's a really common car.

I understand you're not too fussed about getting the right price and just want to get rid of it and let them deal with the hassle of selling it to a buyer.

But understand that when you take your vehicle there, they will basically look out for all faults including ones that are part in parcel of a 6 year old car like the body scratches and creaking suspension (which if it's not an MOT advisory, I'd have a hard time accepting from a car salesman that the suspension is damaged).

Still happy with the price I got for my old banger.

If you have ever driven a car which is so leaky the real passenger footwell turns into a lake each time it rains, has mould in the seats, intermittent electrical problems probably linked to aforementioned water ingress, a dodgy gearbox, probably a dodgy alternator as new batteries don't last and it gets to the stage where the battery goes flat if you don't drive it every day, bald tyres and is due both tax and MOT the day after you sell it then you will be pleased to have it off your hands.

I got pretty much what I had been offered as part exhange. Ok so part exchange prices are !!!!!, but I turned down the part exchange and ran two cars for a while as DH's car was off the road so having two was useful. And to get the same price offered a while down the road when the car had further deteriorated was a bonus.

Eventually DH got his car back on the road and we couldn't justify running three cars so the day before everything was due I flogged it to WBAC with an empty petrol tank and linked up with someone on here and got the M&S vouchers too.

Did have some expenditure. 79p on Rightguard which I sprayed all over the seats having vacuumed the more obvious mould off the seat covers and seatbelts. Have done that before in a hire car when DD threw up in a car 5 mins before I was due to return it. If you drive around with the windows open it gets rid of the smell and it isn't so obvious. Plus I was lucky that it was a nice sunny day with no rain and the electrics and gearbox behaved themselves and having charged the battery it started up nicely when the WBAC guy drove it round the car park. Bet it didn't start the next day.

Not all good reviews on here are from newbies or WBAC salesmen posing as MSE'ers.

Realise WBAC is not everyone's cup of tea, especially if your car is half decent and has some value. Mine wasn't and didn't.

So, how much did you get for this shed? What was the make and model? What was the age and mileage?

9 and a half year old (then) Ford Focus 1.6 Ghia 5 door hatchback 70k £1200 in that ubiquitous deep burgundy that Ford seemed to make all their cars in for a while.

Ex motorbility when I bought it so mileage was low for age which was probably the only thing going for it.

WBAC knocked off £20 for a large deep scratch on the bonnet which I don't expect they bothered fixing as I expect it went straight to auction. The front wheel arch was badly bent on the passenger side after I ran over a broken kerb stone but he never marked it on his clipboard.

Sold it late on a Sunday afternoon so maybe he needed to get home. Dunno and don't care really. Argue all you want that I was robbed. I paid off my credit card with the money and didn't have to pay the MOT, road tax and insurance which were all due the following day.
