Hello
Does anyone know if you can get any money off vouchers from the Tesco in Edmonton? I've never noticed any anywhere.
Thanks

The bad shop was because I did a clothes shop, health shop and toiletries shop all in one go so had a multitude of vouchers to hand over.
The young girl got confused by it all and called for the supervisor. To cut a long story short, I ended up with only my groceries and asked the supervisor to void the rest of the stuff as she wouldn't scan more than 1 voucher from the HB and Sb/Quits.
She actually only wanted to knock £4.75 off a £69 spend
I had only planned on spending £20 in total!
Was gutted by this and felt really down, I also felt I had made myself "seen" and it would be more difficult for me to shop there in the future and pretend ignorance of the voucher rule as she proceeded to point the so called rule out to me (10% yet again).
It was my own fault as I find it hard to back down and am loathe to spend anything but the minimum in Tesco's.
I definitely wouldn't shop there if they weren't so lax with their voucher use, no way!
Anyway, I have now realised it was rather stupid on my part to jeopordize my visibility and have decided to only do 1 kind of coupon set per shop.
I only have access to 3 tesco's in my immediate area so I shall keep alow profile from now on
I split my shopping into a basket for 'Mum' and a trolly for me. I test the water with Mums basket that has all the essentials in and a 'set' of H+B and my trolly has non-essentials in that can be left behind...'Oh Dear I have over spent!' That way I can get 2 lots of H+B or leave 1 lot behind if SA isn't willing.
I must admit though it is very tiring. I went to Tescos on Tuesday and had left all my CC at home. I nearly went back for them but didn't, as its a 14 mile round trip. I went for max money off rather than xtra points in the end. I still came out with only half a shop as I had got so wound up by the H+B that I forgot essentials like potatoes and milk!!

It has also given me some much needed free time to concentrate on other things too.
There is a life away from the toiletry aisles

totally agreed. when i look back the past few months, t and coupons completely took over my private life. before that, after a hard day work, i would just relax and enjoy myself, but now, i would spend all my private hours either in t or online learning how to t or simply think about t.
although i saved a lot on regular shopping and filled up cupboards of toiletries and items that i would normally go for the cheapest version, the stress of getting them was unbelievable. a bit like gambling, all the adrenaline pumping through body, all the numbers in my head, walking up and down aisles, always looking over my shoulder see if i have been followed/ monitored, selecting guessing which sa, return and refund in cs, under pressure of the deadlines on those coupons, sometimes i thought i could have a fit in t. it is good result overall but stressful. i have the occasional moment of dragging myself to go to t, i am actually scare and feeling pressure just the thought that i have to do the shopping...again? sometimes i would imagine how am i going to continue to save when couponing ends. which threads can we move to?
i am not doing any carboot and reselling the items. all the items are for self and family use, gifts, etc. therefore, it is possible in my case to have an occasional break or use my time and energy on something else. sometimes i would tell myself, i am grateful for what i've got but i want my life back. think i really need to find a balance here.0 -
I went to a new Tesco last night and had a brilliant time.
Did a mini shop with bread and milk and dog food etc along with a healthcare shop. Found a nice chatty young boy who was more bothered about talking to his mate on the till behind him, he didn't even look at the vouchers I passed him and the total bill came down from £26 to £12 and that included a £10 girls top!
I took all of it back to the car and went back in for more
Did a slimfast shop and a toiletries shop and split it into two on the belt so I wouldn't have to pass loads of vouchers across, (I am sure this is the downfall of many people by the way).
I couldn't see the original boy but found another just as good who scanned everything I gave him without question, until I added on a £4 dm voucher and he did look at it and ask what it was, I just mumbled "its from the daily mail" and he said fine and scanned it anyway! :T
Came away very happy and it made up for the bad time I had the day before.
Ended up paying just over £16 for all three shops from an original bill of just over £50.
It is very stressful though and the longer you do it, the more aware you become of the feeling that you are doing something wrong
My first ever voucher shop was stress free as I had no expectations at all, in fact I enjoyed it!
You get away with a lot more when you are new and somewhat "ignorant" of the possible outcomes.Stopped smoking Jan 2007 after 23 years!Cigarettes NOT smoked = 240,945Smoke free days = 11 Years :TCash saved so far = £125,45,110 -
It doesn't make any difference what sort of bag but it is up to the SA how many green points to put on, so be nice to them and you might get more!
It was a member of staff who is being till trained who told me, so she will be classed as multi skilled, which they are trying to do with all staff now0 -

That is actually quite a scary post Vellum.
Like you said, you have to find the right balance but I can see all too easily how it could take over your life if you let it.
As is it, I have only been doing it three weeks but I think I have NOT been into Tesco's only twice in that three weeks as the thought of getting something for nothing is just too addictive.
Plus like you, I have at times had to buy cheaper versions of what I wanted due to unexpected bills etc and it really is nice to be able to go shopping and buy things you wouldn't normally buy.
I bought a new washing up bowl, its only £1.47 but its something I would have put off buying, it tickles me that I didn't actually pay for it

Same here. Yes every cupboard, fridge and freezer is full to bursting - I even leave light things stored in the back of the car like loo paper. Plus it is a lot of fun, seeing how little you have paid for your shopping - I cant wait for the weekends now when my happy scanner is on. But when we were away for a few days and we were too far away from Tesco and no internet access,we just did the bit of shopping we needed at the local C0-op it was so relaxing.
Mind you it did not stop me asking every time I went through a till, do you accept money off coupons!
And I was such a sad sack I took my complete coupon collection with me, counted them, sorted them into size order and then made a not of the use by dates so I knew which ones I had to use ASAP :rotfl:
And the day we found the Times had a £2.70 Harpers coupon and a £1.99 esquire coupon we did a half hour walk into town and all around to find the only two newsagents with the last 6 copies of the Times!

OMG! i strayed on here from the Boots thread.......doing Bootsing stresses me out as it is....maybe i should just slope off again before i get addicted to diddling Mr T as well
:hello:  It's official I'm addicted to Boots - the total on my Advantage Card has gone over £300  :hello:0 -
I never thought I would say this - but just perhaps there is a very small upside to having ME/CFS!! - my health and the rehabilitation programme requires me to be very strict with with my energy and time. And, I can quiet see how it could be addictive, so ......... spend your time as tho it was your money and use it wisely!
Yesterday, was to be a small shop & H&B buying day, + =DM coupon and yes I bought the book, so about £42 + several coupons. Used a SA who had been coupon friendly last week, when she got halfway through she suddenly had a panic attack and said I will have to call the supervisor and pressed the button before i could say anything! Supervisor and several other staff gathered around and discussion ensued and I had to point out that several of the coupons were for 50 points coz i had bought the products, yes there were 5 £1.50 John Frieda coz i HAD bought 5 items (sachet serum) etc etc. Supervisor agreed all was ok, so paid £9.50 in total.:D
So next week, I will go back to doing what I have done before, and what I am happier with, and that is using only 3-4 coupons at a time, its easier on my nerves!:eek:0 -

Yes, I would back away from the computer as fast as possible and dont look back or you will be as mad as the rest of us. Bootsing seems relatively normal at the moment but shopping at Tesco gets more crackers by the day.
My husband made the mistake last night of asking about Tesco and the couponing but I knew as soon as I started that he had lost the will to live after the first sentense but I couldnt stop myself from explaining the whole thing in graphic detail - it was like my mouth had been taken over by aliens! :rotfl: :rotfl:
