Afternoon all. Hope you are well.

bow. I am still finding it hard to stick to a budget. As you can see by my grocery challenge total for June. . Mind you that is the first time that i have done it ,and like you OH, I spend to much on beer and tobacco. I have included everything that i have spent money on this month so may need to tweak it a bit for next month as i am going to use my cheap travel to France to buy beer over there(£3.80 a case in Cite de europe) and just keep my grocery challenge for groceries.

purpleteddybear. Well done on the Halifax front. Good luck with your call tomorrow. Stick with it as i am afraid you cannot pick and choose which creditors hassle you and being with Payplan/CCCS etc gives you a certain amount of leverage with them.

    Bye for now

  • Hi Hope everyone is well and you have all had a good day with the postie and phone calls.
I went to the CAb this morning and spoke to a debt advisor, explained everything to him. he reassured me that because they are non priority debts there isn't a lot that the creditors can do, he said I was lucky that the 5 had accepted my payments. I explained about Mercers and he said that they are using scare tactics by saying that they will send someone to my home, and that it will scare me into ringing them and they will ask me to pay them more by ringing them. He said that is how they work.
Problem is he can't take over all the debts at the moment because of me not declaring my child benefit and said that Cab have to declare the full amount I am getting.
He said he will write to Mercers saying that I have been to see them, and if they could freeze the interest that they are charging.
He said they can help me more when my benefit changes in September.
So I feel a bit more positive after seeing the Cab.
Ray you are very organised with christmas, this is something I hope to achieve well done :)
Dr Jekyll glad that you are feeling better today!!
    Have a good day All!!
    Love to you all.

    Valley's girl.

Glad you are feeling a bit more positive. Seems to be swings and roundabouts on a DMP. Mine at the moment is very quite and after the initial rush and apprehension i seem to have settled into some sort of Status Quo. Can i just say that ,really, I have had no nasty letters/calls as i requested this on the letter i sent with the token payments and it has gone smoothly thus far. Hope it is the same for you all.

Call me miser if you wish but i recieved a statement today from a long forgotten Tesco savings account. Have sent letter requesting closure of account and balance to be sent to me. Grand total £1.71:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Still as my great gran used to say 'look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'. Going to look at what i can spend my unexpected windfall on:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Hello:)
Received letter from hsbc re overdraft (£160 o/d) saying they cannot accept the cccs offer. So rang cccs and they said not to ring hsbc back and they would make the payment anyway. Woman I spoke to was really nice, bless. She said if and when i get bank charges back it's likely that hsbc will put that into my current account to clear off the o/d anyway.
That's about it from my owrld so far...still no calls. Woman at cccs said not heard anything from egg or o2 yet so see how that goes...

PS. Still struggling with what to spend the £1.71 on. Think i might save it and watch the interest increase the original total over the coming years:rotfl:
  • Thanks Ym
It is amazing how one letter threatening to visit me at home, can scare me so much. Hopefully they won't call.
Hope you decide what to spend your windfall on now don't spend it all at once

Blimey. Nearly forgot talking about my windfall earlier. Cast your mind back if you will and i was ranting on about my problems setting up a DD for my water. Anyway got an email today from their customer services apologising for the delay and the time i spent waiting on their expensive phone line. When i sent them an email i did mention the fact that i keep hanging on the phone blah, blah. They are going to send me a cheque for £10 towards the cost of the calls:j :j :j :j :j :j :j .

Now I have £10.71 to invest. Surprising how quick it grows:rotfl:

    Erm ym - although that's great I think you may find that £10 + £1.71 isn't £10.71!!! ;)
