Hi BWFC, I think CQ has got it wrong about Lloyds and your wife's acc. We were told that banks can't take money from another person's (including the wife or husband) account. I have two Barclays ccs on my DMP and my wife still has her Barclays current account and it is not having money removed. I am pretty sure this is accurate with due respect to CQ. Perhaps a few others on here can confirm or otherwise.

Assuming I am right it would be a lot easier for your wife so fingers crossed.

Here's a hug for CQ and if I am wrong I hope I get one back :)
  • Hiya Drjekyll,

No worries if i'm wrong, i'm wrong. But if it's joint it would happen as payplan had advised us on this.

    sending big hugs back

    Hi all

ive been on my DMP since March and last month increased my payments so instead of paying my debt off in 12  years it sgoing to take 4 years :j

But Nat west & HSBC seem to be ignoring the DMP  i still get my statments from them and there still charging interest on loan & overdraft  how long will it be until they stop interest or will they ever i nearly gave into to HSBC and payed the overdue amounts on my loan £40 with them also my natwest overdraft is £300 and i nearly payed that aswell wich would have left me with £1.50.

Should i just pay them and at least get them off my back for a bit longer, i feel bad for having this money in my account and not using it to pay off debt but it is spoken for as i saved it to have my car reparied last month but the cost was cheaper then i budgeted for (for once) this month not been great as i spent a week in hospital and two weeks off work iam told i get sick pay but not for the first 3 days so my wage packet will be down this month aswell:eek:

Also i must stop watching programs on tv about debt beat the balif is one of them why do i do it to myself  everytime theres a knock att he door i jump :rotfl: iam being silly but at what point would a creditor call in a balif ? iam trying to pay my debt off and be debt free but could any of my creditors call in the service of a balif while iam on a DMP.

Anyway iam off to turn the tv over and try and get some sleep :D

oh one last thing i surpose i should ask the cccs on this, would it be wise to pay any extra money i may have at the end of the month to my creditors ie if i have £20 should i pay that into my largest creditor ?

CQ, you are right if it is a joint account but I am right if they are separate accounts I think. Remember the banks won't talk to you over the ph. about your partners/wife's/husband's acc. because of confidentiality or/and legal requirements which suggests to me that the law would be against them taking anything out of anyone else's acc. because of another person's debt. A joint account would mean they legally could I think. I thought BWFC's wife had a separate acc. and if so she is ok to keep it according to Payplan as far as I remember. If it is joint she would be safer to change. I was with Lloyds for 47 yrs or so but simply went into the branch and it only took ten mins. or so to close my acc. and cancel the DD's.

Glad to hear you are with Payplan. Any particular views on them? They seem competent, helpful and knowledgeable to me. Hope you are well and have a good day. Thanks for the hugs I need them this week. Have had balance probs. and heartburn but both gone now I think so feeling better now. Both prob. linked to stress and the heartburn also from eating macaroni cheese which I have discovered is notoriously difficult to digest. Even my 17 yr. old had a heavy stomache after it so beware icon9.gif

  • Hi drjekyll,

I agree with you on seperate accounts,i thought it was a joint account that BWFC was talking about my mistake if it was seperate account.

Hoping the hugs help you with heartburn, lol

Hi CQ and thanks to Dr. Jekyl for his input! CQ you are right the Lloyds account is a joint account so I think I will have both our wages paid into the new account so to avoid them taking monies off my wifes wage. However, lloyds won't talk to my wife about the lloyds CC or loan!

Here's to a Sunday Roast and a day of rest

Hi Streaky_B. I understand that if you give in to paying more one month, then they expect you to make these extra payments every month as they assume it will always be "spare" money in your budget.

So think you are best sticking to your payments and saving up a larger lump sum to be distributed evenly among them via CCCS.

Part of the reason they accept the DMP is that they can see it is fair and that each person gets a fair percentage of your monies left every month depending on the debts you have. So if you start overpaying one of the, it isn't going to be fair on the others and they may get upset.

I believe that's the general opinion on it anyway - not got so far as "extra" money left yet ;)

  • Hi bwfc,
Is your c/c and loan in your name or is it in both?

If they are just in your name, then they will only speak to you.But if it is in both of your names then they should speak to both of you, hope i'm not confusing you, lol.

The CC is in my name only and the loan is in my name only hence the confusion about them taking money out of my wifes wage when the debt is not in her name!

At least none of us will get any nasty letters this Friday with the Post Strike  maybe the telephone companies should come out in sympathy as well.:j
