    Hi all

Unusually quiet for me with the phone calls! Lull before the storm I suspect. I'm making my token payments tomorrow by cheque and new Nat West bank account open. Things slowly clicking into place but still tentative about if the Lloyds Loan, Lloyds Credit Card and Egg Card accept my DMP.

It's been a pretty crap year so far and I sympathise with Rainbow. In May we had 2 family deaths within 13 days of each other, same family grave and very close relatives. Gutted and I just knew at the same time we were just not coping financially and thinking of IVA's and Bancruptcy, etc but glad we looked at this site and it spurred me on to contact CSSC. Hopefully our holiday in July will give us a new start

Come on guys spurn me on :j

    Hiya everyone.
Been a few weeks since i posted, lots going off in my life at the minute.Huge family arguments going off(not involving me but im sort of hearing all about it from every party involved) trying not to get involved as much as that is possible, Then my uncle passed away and all in all just had a stressful few weeks.

But i have had good news too, as you can see from my signiture i have won another lot of charges back, this time from Natwest credit card, i claimed £500 and they offered £300 which we have excepted as it almost clears the card.So grand total of charges got back so far....£1530 !!!!
Thats the same as 4 months worth of dmp payments gone all for the cost of a few stamps.

Last months dmp payment also cleared another creditor!!! Down to 8 now and still have other charges to claim back.

The phone calls i was getting from the company that had taken over from monument credit card have stopped, the company is called Cabot not cahoot as i thought before, and they have spoken to my dmp company and agreed to continue with set payments!!

So my debt free journey is going very well at the minute. Iv even already got all 4 kids their main presents for xmas sorted already!!
And im doing some more ebaying to raise so extra cash for a few days away at coast in Aug. My mother in law lives on coast so only need spending money as we always stay with her and i get a week off from the cooking!!

Anyway im off, take care everyone, and keep your chins up and a smile on your face.

Lloyds CC are usually pretty quick to accept, my hubbies they accepted straight away, mine was £4.65 the payment I offered and they said they could not accept payments under £5 so I said if I can pay by standing order thus cutting out cost of stamp I could do £5.

My mum had a loan with them for 17k unsecured they sent a grey letter literally the paper colour from what seemed like a solicitors - they also did this to me with my bank account - and I wrote to them and then suddenly it went back to them and they accepted payments so I assume its one of there frightener things they do -so you get the grey letter of doom fear not!

If they take too long make a formal complaint to them I did this and said that courts would frown on them taking so long to accept and putting on charges - they refunded most of them back!

Hope I have not scared you just wanted you to know yes they do accept and if you complain you get some pennies back and at Christmas I got some wine off them too!

Quite fitting Lloyds wine and give wine!

    Morning all

Have posted my own thread and SOA somewhere on here; and last night I reached the end of my tether.....so first (well, second) port of call is here!

I know you all can help!

Basically, and to cut a very long story short, we owe Halifax Credit Card £5917 and our limit is £5500....guess where the extra has come from!? Anyway, we're behind with payments and the minimum they're wanting by the 9th July is £501 which we simply haven't got. We've told them time and time again of the situation, and we're still getting the phone calls every day etc etc.

So, I went through CCCS and did their on-line Debt Management thingie, and upshot being as we don't have enough money to cover our outgoings (really?), they couldn't put us on a DMP as we have nothing surplus. So, I go off to National Debtline who provide me with template token offer letters, which I duly complete, send to Halifax with a SOA and wait....only to be told by Halifax yesterday that they won't freeze charges and interest unless we go through a debt management company!

How on earth are you meant to get round this with a DIY DMP?!?!?

I was in tears on the 'phone, and it takes a lot for that to happen, believe me.

Anyway, I picked myself up and phoned Payplan. Spoke to a lovely lady who was most helpful and when we went through the "basics", it seems as if they calculate that we have a surplus of £132.....I wish! Does anyone know what they base their assumptions on? One of their advisors is calling me on Saturday to go through outgoings in more detail.....and I am scared!

Creditors wise, we have the CC, I have a CC (£600) and a storecard (£1700) - payments on my CC and the storecard are up to date. We also have ODs on all our accounts (£800, £600 and £1400).

Can ANYONE advise as to what happens next? Am in such a muddle and confused......it's not as if we owe millions, but this man made me feel so darn small and helpless.

We have set up A&L Bank Accounts to switch from our main accounts (same bank as CC)...is this the right thing to do?

Here's hoping that one of you can help - I know you've all been there, I just need some reassurance that all will be okay and I am not as silly as I am convincing myself I am at the moment.

Apologies for the long post, and thanks for reading this far! :o

I do a DIY with national debt helpline letters and there budget calculator which you can download.

But I never ring companies never have, I changed my phone number for free with BT. I think you have to keep to them even if Halifax don't accept a DIY one they will pass it on to a DCA that will. You have to stick to your guns and send your offered payments religiously whether or not they have accepted them and tackle each letter one by one.

Not sure what you mean by switching bank accounts do you now mean you have a bank account that is with a different company separate from all your other debts - if so spot on well done!

If I can help you further please ask away - I am a year into mine now and have all of them with frozen interest and accepted lower payments but it was a slog to get there.

Hiya to you and you are in the right place.
Try not to worry i know its hard but the phone call you are going to get from payplan will put your mind at rest.
They are there to help you and not to judge you.
They will just go through everything with you and if you dont understand anything ask them.
This is the hardest bit setting a dmp up, but once it is all sorted from my experience it feels like a huge weight has been lifted from your shoulders.
Dont worry about creditors upseting you , you soon will feel impowered by knowledge arnd realise they are bullies, and will learn how to deal and talk to them if you have to.
Good luck from a dmp old timer

I am with Payplan and they have been brilliant. I to was dreading the call to go through my outgoings and after it i wondered why i was panicking as it was really good and put my mind at rest. Ref the bank account. As long as it is not with anyone who you owe money to then that is not a problem. Be carfull though as a lot of the banks etc are affiliated with others so check it out. If you ask when you have you call Payplan will be able to tell you if the account you have is not linked to any of your creditors. Good luck and well done :T

Nothing to report from me as it has settled down. I think i frightened EGG the other day as i recieved a letter saying my CC account had been passed to a DCA. As i heard nothing i emailed them saying who is the DCA as i want to face this head on. I recieved a message back saying that the account was still with them and they had accepted the proposals from Payplan and it was not passed onto a DCA. The mention of a DCA panicks most people but i think i surprised them by saying 'come on then who are they as i want to deal with them'. I think they expected me to call and plead with them not to pass it on and maybe i can find some more money:rotfl: . From what i have heard anyway i think that DCA's are sometimes easier to deal with.

    Hope you are all well

  • Hi again

Thanks for the comments both -

Re the bank account, yes, we have both set up the A&L Premier Direct Accounts (one through Quidco for the £50 and then the referral for £40 each!) as we don't owe A&L anything. This way we can put our salaries into these accounts, pay DDs etc., and leave the ODs where they are and pay them off. Does this make sense?

I really wanted to do a DIY, but as Halifax are just being stroppy, then I think Payplan is the best route, andas you so rightly say, will be a weight off our shoulders. Am just scared that they will say we need to cut back on lots of things ..... but I hope I'm worrying over nothing.

Do they set you a realisitic budget? We both work full-time and have a 2 1/2 year old.

Once again, I knew I'd come to the right place...I just need to start breathing again now!

If you are not comfortable with the budget that they give you tell them you have to keep to budgets you can't go over drawn so make sure you get it right with payplan remember they are on your side so don't be worried about speaking up and make sure you have given them all your expenses, do you have regular prescriptions, hair cuts, school dinners the works!
