Just entered into a DMP but I have a joint account with my wife. The DMP is for my debt only and our current joint bank account is Lloyds and there are 2 debts with Lloyds in my name. Will I have to open another account as my wifes and my wage are paid into the account or can my wife still use that account even though the debts not in her name? Or should I still use the account? HHHeeeeeellllppppppppp! Advice needed.

Open a new bank account right away and come away from Lloyds they have in there terms and conditions that they can take money out of your account and they will do it as soon as wages go in!
We managed to get an account with Cahoot and recently with Alliance and Leicester - we did the later through quidco and got £50 back!0 -
Hi Kat
If you haven't done so already post up your SOA and if things are not that bad we may be able to help enough so that you don't have to go down the dmp route at all. I believe defaults stay on your credit record until 6 years after they are settled not 6 years after they are applied so for us we have no hope of remortgaging until the mortgage is almost cleared. We wouldn't get one now anyway on DH's earnings. We got this one purely on my wages 5 years ago then two years later I was made redundant so are stuck with it. We can at least make additional payments to it if we ever have any spare money - spare money?? what's that?
That sounds a strange loan you have. I have no experience with Northern Rock so can't help you there unfortunately. Did you explain all this to CCCS? I would think they would have come across it before and should be able to give advice. The fact that it uses the same account number as your mortgage would make things difficult. Are you certain it is unsecured? I think you may have to remortgage before they would accept the loan on the dmp but that is just my opinion of how I have read things. I could be completely wrong.

Afternoon all
Seems such a long time since I posted, though I do try to catch all the post everyday and keep up with you all. Well 2 exams down 1 to go yay be glad when they're over roll on next Thursday. Had an awful week but not financial (makes a change!) my 14 year old son struck up a seemingly "innocent" friendship with a 31 year old (single, unmarried) man, however it seems to have snowballed recently with the 31 year old texting sometimes 3-5 times a day and then meeting him "by chance?" as he came home from school then asking him to drop by a "say hello" on his way to school, all became a little scarey and inappropriate so after taking advice (we know this man reasonably well and he is very immature, sincerley don't believe there was anything pervy in it but it was like a romance in first flush) we had a chat with him yesterday and he seemed to understand. Anyway to cut a long story short he "met" him again on his way to school this morning:mad: has the man got a brain!! To explain that his mum and dad (us) had a word with him and don't want them to meet up anymore - fuming cause we specifically asked him not to - anyway its all recorded so things should stop. We've told the boys (we have a 12 year old too) to keep away from him - so lets see how things go. Sorry didn't mean to make this post so long particularly when not money related.
Anyway welcome to all the new members hi to all the existing ones, where are the founders???? Hi to them too.
Love and hugs to you all will be eternally grateful to the DMP Mutual Support Club :A for keeping me sane.

IDA - You are wise to do what you did.
A friend of mines niece struck up a relationship with a man at Judo it was just borrowing books on the subject, then he go the mobile number and the parents thought it a little freaky. They then caught him watching her going into school reported it to the police - turned out he was a pedophile (that is probably spelt wrong!) and he was re-arrested and it turned out that he did have "intentions" and this was early grooming.
Yours is probably innocent but it is shocking when you know someone who came close to a scrape like that I say its good to keep a wise head but things in prospective.0 -

If that is really the case - i've seen it mentioned both ways on here - then I don't have as long to wait as I first thought.
IDA you did the right thing. Are you able to walk with your DS to school a couple of times just to make sure he is co-operating?
Ray that is awful - I hope he was put away for a long time. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

I have just tried to open a joint account with Nat west and it says in principle I am excepted and they will forward the paperwork. Hope I am. Will the Lloyds still have a right to take my wifes money even though the debt is not in her name? Any further advice is appreciated.
My DMP will start in July. Will lloyds take the wages before then or will they wait until the DMP starts in July? Thanks in advance.

I had missed about two months payments and they hadn't took any from our account but before the letters went out offering lower payments we were safely in our new bank account.
Is the bank account in joint names? If it is and the debt is in your wifes name then in theory they could. I don't mean to worry you or panic you and time is definately on your side but if you can get another account do and then its a worry you never have to think about.
Sorry I can't help anymore - but on the plus side after months of making out they never receive letters Lloyds do accept and suspend interest. I have had a grey solicitors letter from them - that was just a scam they went from that to accepting. You do get a lot of computer generated letters from them that bare no resemblance to letters you send out. Just giving you the heads up and hoping your mind is at rest now you know all there scams. Oh and if they drag there feet along time make a formal complaint you get interest back and free wine - see its not all bad0 -
Hi guys :hello:
Phew - I'm so exhausted. Life is too busy just now. Sorry I've not been on much. I thought that school would've settled down by now, but I thought wrong. Weekends are hectic and I'm about to start exam marking - aaaarrgh! Need the money though, so mustn't moan! Had an AWFUL day yesterday. I bumped my car (two panels will require beating and a big scratch all down one side of the car). I could've wept. Really can't afford to get it repaired just now, so will just have to look beaten up for the next wee while. Still, I know I'm lucky to have a car (still paying for it through HP, but it's a lovely luxury/necessity to have). Then I was ready to jack in my job and either change schools or leave teaching all together. Ho hum! Anyway, I'm okay apart from this. No news on the DMP front. Hoping things will be plain sailing from now on.
I was just about to reply to BWFC's query, but rayday has done a fab job. Good luck with it all.
Hi to everyone else. Sorry to hear some folks have been having a bad time of it. Keep smiling
