Hi, I am going on a DMP with CCCS

One question as I am a little worried, before my dmp is set up, the first payment to the dmp is 1st July, I get paid on the 20th June and there is a payment of £230 due on the 24thJune, CCCS have told me just to pay a £1 token for this month but Citi are saying I need to pay £116

    Confused, please help

    Thanks

    hi all
Not posted for a a while have been busy with children work etc.

On the dmp front i have paid first payment to cccs in June, have received a n from ge money a no we will not accept dmp, but just will stand ground with this one and keep paying cccs. Balance with them is about £1,800 so not sure what is problem but as hubby said they try and frighten you into stopping the dmp and paying in full. How they think you can pay in full when they have your budget i really dont know!!!
Not had many calls but i am sure they will start again soon as they seem to go in stages. Lloyds send a good letter saying contact us about serious arrears situation on your account nothing else just name on top of letter no please or thankyou. (hubby has only missed one monthly payment and they have cashed our token payment so they must have had our details. (filed this letter along with the other.)
I have found if i am more organised it helps with dmp i have bought cheap folders 50p reduced from asda and have got a folder for each creditor and any letters that come from them. Daft as it seems i feel more in control.
Just have to keep other half under control now (lol!!!)

    bye for now all
    take care

xgingerx- Ignore citi - token payments all the way. It is scary, not paying your commitments, but we've all been there - I paid token payments amounting to £127 (I think) the first month, but my actual payments should have been about £1200!!! So follow what CCCS says as then no one creditor can say you've been giving them preferential treatment.

bowz25 - You stand you ground :) Sounds like you're doing well.

    hi
    xgingerx
i missed some of my monthly payments and i really did not like this but i felt it was the only way forward (i sent £5.00 token payments to all creditors but you can send less if you wish) I still have 2 more to send as only just missed payments at beginning june.
Send a token payment and do not let them upset you. I have just had a demand for full payment but you can not pay what you have not got. A lot of our debt was was trying to service our debts and living costs it is a vicious circle and debt soon mounts up.
stay positive it is hard but you are not alone

    take care

Thanks for your advice and reassurance, I suppose what I dont have they cant have but I do feel like its my fault im in this mess and at the end of the day I did borrow the money and spend it,

Maybe I just feel guilty and a bit stupid getting in over my head,

It just crept up from nowhere and before I knew it I was only just managing to make my minimum payments and worked out it would be 20 years till I paid everyone off, scary I know !!

The worst feeling of all is seeing what I owe and thinking Ive got absolutely nothing material to show for it.

Anyway, think this website is a godsend and full of advice from good people who have actually been there.

    So Thanks to all

Hi bow. I did reply to your comment before... GE Money (Debenhams) wrote to say no to me initially - when I'd made token payment. They said my account had been used too recently.

Then when CCCS contacted them they wrote to say yes it's accepted and they will stop interest for a temporary period. :T Then I got a letter from another department to say that they couldn't stop interest till they hear from CCCS. So don't think they know quite what they are doing ;)

So stay with it and stay firm. They may not accept until later.

    hi xgingerx
I feel the same but i kept looking back thinking how can i owe that much.(we have a car that is 12 years old and i have not been abroad on holiday since 1993!! I have come to the conclusion (and hubby and myself do owe a lot of debt) that it does no good to look back and think why have we got this debt as it just drives me mad!!! I aim to look forward now and it is so easy to get into debt with just daily living shopping etc.
If i told people who much we owe i am sure they would think what have they spent that amount on where is their expensive car and big house or flash
    clothes.
Our dmp is for about 16 years!!! hopefully less if we earn more to pay towards this.
Yes you have spent the money but you are taking steps to pay it back and that is responsible.
    good luck with your dmp

    thanks newleywed

i do think it is a case of left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing with most creditors.
Lloyds rang and said nothing received from cccs and then when i said have you cashed token payment they said yes. I advised to them that they must have had my information then. What can they say to that i just quote ref number again to them.
I think most creditors cash token payments then our correspondence ends up at another department some weeks later.
I rang cccs and told them about ge not accepting.
    thanks again.
