When they collected my CC and Loan together onto my OD it was a bit daunting at first to see such a large amount but it is nice to only have 1 account to deal with and to ,hopefully, see the outstanding balance decline.

Good luck with the car. Hope all goes well.

Thanks YM. We have chased so many duff cars and spent so much doing it that I'm really worried, to be honest. But I can't afford to fork out for return train tickets and then petrol money to drive the car home, but if we don't get the car then we have to use some of the car savings to get home!!

Why is NOTHING to do with money EVER simple????!!!!

    Hi everyone

Newleywed If I was you I would book the £17 return tickets just in case. Great news about F Direct :T . As you say would have been better if interest stopped but at least it's an improvement.

Smilealot Hope you enjoyed all that galavanting. Sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment. I will try my magic want but doubt it will help. Hope you get something sorted.

ym Hope DD gets on okay at the dentist. We have got the dentist tomorrow so hopefully I will just need check and perhaps a clean. Can't really afford to have too much wrong at the moment.

I just checked on the CCCS debt calculator and if I can put another £30 towards my debts it will bring my DFD forward by 2 years. This has really got me into money saving mode.

Oh well better go now as the children want feeding.

Bit of a catch 22 situation you are in. I think if you dont pre book you may be putting pressure on yourself to take the car anyway so that you do not have to fork out the £50 to get home. If you pre book you are going to waste a return leg journey. Would this still not work out cheaper in the end than paying the £50 ?

The car ,to me, sounds promising as it is a friend of the family and ,hopefully, they would not pull a fast one. What about if only one of you was to go to see the car. Not ideal i know but it may cut the cost a bit.

Difficult choice. One I do not envy. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Always amazes me that upping your payments per month can drastically reduce your DFD. Will have to look at that in the future.

Yeah, I think you are right, we will be pressured to buy it if we don't have tickets home and will have to pay £100 to both get home :o

But we can't afford to spend £66 train fare if it's a duff one anyway - won't be able to get to work for the next week or so if we do that :o

I would go on my own and just buy it anyway if it didn't look rusty - but OH is fussy and says never pay the asking price (and it's his savings we have to use). But if I send OH on his own, he won't be happy and it's me that has to sort insurance (I have 12 years no-claims -v- OH's none), pay the train fare etc etc.

    Hi guys,

I typed out a big response earlier today and it's vanished!! I'll write a summary now...

Thanks for the heather and Irn Bru tips YM - I'll give it a go and post the recipe tomorrow :rotfl: Good luck with the dentist!!

newlywed - good news on first direct. I'm pleased it's starting to work out for you. I'd book the train tickets and cut your losses. I know what you mean about not wanting to waste the money (I'm counting pennies not pounds this month!) but maybe it's best in the long run? Let us know how you get on. :D

teecee - sorry, didn't realise you DD was poorly. Hope she's okay. Where is othr third leg these days? He must be a busy bee.

hardlylisa - £30pm = 2 years, blimey!! What brilliant motivation to get saving. Well done. :T

Sea - hello poppet. How are things going outside of the DFW life? I've been thinking about you.

Thanks to everyone who waved their magic wand for me. I've come up with two solutions... neither of them good. I either ask my housemate to pay the £41 on her credit card for my insurance and I will pay her back before her bill is due. This only thing is, the direct debit has been refused today (£20 bank charge - booo) and they've said they'll try and take it again within 7 days. Will they be able to cancel the Direct Debit request if I pay on card, cos I don't want to pay twice! The other option is to take out one of these two week pay-day loans over the internet  . Not great I know (esp as not supposed to take out more credit) but I REALLY need to pay for my insurance and petrol. Any advice?

On the upside, after extensive arguments with Hellifax calling my parents at all hours despite them promising me that phone number wasn't on my file anymore, I pestered them until the accepted my DMP. So now, the following have accepted with no charges or interest:

    Cahoot
    Barclaycard
    Halifax Credit Card
    Halifax Current Account

Just my two Natwest accounts to come back a confirmed (hopefully in the next couple of days) and I will be all set up - woo hoo!!!

Hope everyone is getting on okay. Keep smiling.

    Afternoon all

Welcome to the new people.

    Pompey,
I'm much the same as yourself and Lonely.

Newleywed, hope the car works out well for you.

Smilealot, cancel the DD mandate with the bank. That will stop them requesting it and you incurring another charge. It's not unlike them to go ahead and request the DD even when you have paid by another method.

    Lonely
    well done for sorting A&L.

Teecee sorry to hear your DD has the CP. Mine had it at age 1 and 5. The 5 year old was fine but the 1 year old really was tormented.

I got a nasty letter from CCCS today  (I didn't think they did nasties). Anyway it said as they had been unable to contact me about the review that they could no longer support my budget and they would refer the creditors to me but they would keep up with my payments. That was a bit scary. It turns out they wrote to me a while back with a date and time for the review (last week). I never got that letter (god knows who did) so wasn't around for the call. Anyway I did the review last week so a quick email sorted it out. :A

Anyone with Quidco? I was expecting a payout to my bank account today of £310. It hasn't arrived. Is it likely to come in the next couple of days? I'm depending on it.

Hello to everyone else. Can't remember what else I've read. Must keep up.

    I need motivation to:

Sort out my food budget - I still spend too much on food
    Claim my bank charges
    Claim compensation for missold endowment

    hi all,
read all the posts and it seems to all be kicking off again.
    welcome to the new posters.
newlywed.....are the return fares alot more than the single fares?if theres not much diff, i,d buy them on the safe side then less pressure if cars iffy.
smile.....this overspending must be catching,am waiting for payday on 15th myself and o/d is suffering.i find the more you try to economise, the more you spend.
lonely.....just had one hiccup with cccs re marshallward where i was going round in circles cos cccs wont pay m/w until they transfer to a dca, so had to fone m/w myself ,then ask cccs to ring ffone no given to me by m/w.cccs didnt like it but persevered and hopefilly, its sorted.cant understand why cccs wanted to destroy my credit rating even more (lol) by waiting for m/w to tranfer to the dca instead of keeping it inhouse, so i could keep the account later if needed.(i know its credit but thinking if white goods break down..massive bill/no dosh)
ex,spend......my quidco takes forever to be paid so its a good job its only small(£5 odd...other month) cos when you go on earnings at the site its always changing dates.

am apologising in advance to POMPEYMARK.....re keeping the secret of the debt.take it from me (i have been there, got the t-shirt, been to hell and returned, iykwim)SHE WILL FIND OUT!!im sorry cos i know its not what you want to hear and you thought we were great on this thread(we are, we are,....the rest cry!!!)please try ,now that you have put your dmp plan in action to tell her before someone or something does it for you.honestly,im not the wicked witch and am trying to help you as this lot have really helped me.please think about it anyway.

    take care everyone.regards,xx
People bring great joy into our lives..some by arriving, others by leaving.im trying to be one of the former, so please bear with :)
