    hi,
debragg...quik word re the outgoings.its good that you want to throw as much as you can at your debts but would advise not to stint on everything as there will be no leeway for emergencies, which youll get cos you cant rely on c/cs anymore.i air on the safe side when doing budgets so i always know ill be able to afford the dmp payment whatever, so then youll be a regular payer instead of having to revise your dmp every other month.you can always save any extra money in a savings a/c so you can pay a lunp sum to one of your debts in the future.with your budget id tell them you only have 250 not 300 cos then if you have an emergency you will be okay.dont feel bad about a little white lie cos lots of ppl do that.what if rent goes up or white goods /car/ etc breaks down/ presents.
hope ive been helpful and you get what i mean.

Oh well I have made a budget and I hope to stick to it, I think I have included everything in my budget but really want to save some money somewhere so I can offer full and finals at some point to everybody, I am dreaming within 2 yrs I will of got shot of ALL my debts pmsl!
It helps to have dreams and somethinh to focus towards anyway.
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!
  • HI Everyone,

I hope you all had a super Christmas, cant believe it is all done and dusted!

    I need some advice please.....

I seem to be in the middle of a battle with Creation Financial. They have turned bad all of a sudden and I am at a loss as to which avenue to turn. I am with Payplan, but to be honest I am very disappointed at their level of care and advice.Basically - My balance at Payplan doesnt match what Creation have (about £500 difference). Payplan called me to say that I need to go to a CAB and ask them to write to Creation on my behalf to ask them to adjust the account so it matches what Payplan say it should be. On top of this Creation have now stopped the interest freeze and are writing really nasty letters and calling at all hours, 3 times alone today which I have not answered because the last time I spoke to them they said that they no longer recognised I was on a DMP. I want to write to them to explain I am still with Payplan and would like to re-freeze the interest and of course I will also ask them to only contact in writing. Any ideas on which approach I should take or is there a template that might cover this? I dont understand why Payplan arent willing to help me do this or even contact them on my behalf. They have been doing this a lot in the last 6 months. When I asked them why they cant help they simply say "its not our job to do that". I have done all my own negotiating on interest in the past and things, but from reading here it seems that Payplan have done all this for others, why not me?

As you all know I am still battling with MBNA which I had to put on hold whilst moving just before Christmas and I plan to carry on with that. I didnt even get a formal reply to my letter requesting charges back so January here I come.

I need a boost guys, help help help!

The move has been the best thing I ever did for me and my son and after feeling so positive about the new year this has really knocked me about a bit! I thought I was on the home straight!

I currently pay 268.50 and look to pay 300-350 and put some away for emergencies and a lump sum every few months to my debts if possible.

    Hi JJ,.

Sorry to hear of your problems. Payplan have been really good to me. Cannot really suggest a solution. Perhaps a change of case officer may help?. Stick with it and I hope everthing works out OK. I am expecting problems along the way. I have heard MBNA can be pigs but if worse comes to worse if you are continuing to make payments to Payplan then anyone can see that you are doing something responsible to tackle your debt.
You have still done the right thing and Happy New year to you and your family. Indeed Happy new year to each and everyone of you.

Have a good one tonight and enjoy the year ahead with positive thoughts

  • jj,
have you looked at the national debtline website? www.nationaldebtline.co.uk.
they have really good advice and template letters.if you ring them ,theyll send out all the info and sample letters in an a4 form and its really useful.i still refer to mine even though im with cccs for my dmp.i recommend them as they really know their stuff and will even fone your creditors and keep re sending your details till the creditors are playing ball.
if all else fails theres a template letter saying , stop the charges cos my payment being swallowed up with the charges and im getting deeper in debt.you are profitting from my financial misfortune.im trying to pay regularly, never miss my dmp each month, so you leave me no alterative but to cease payment and ill see you in court.you can , of course, accept my dmp and stop all charges so my debt goes down.but the court will accept my offer and ,which i will not increase till its paid off or im bankrupt.
youll get a ccj but your ratings shot anyway.
that sort of letter usually does the trick cos they realise the sense.
    good luck.ilgd xx
People bring great joy into our lives..some by arriving, others by leaving.im trying to be one of the former, so please bear with :)

I'm the same with payplan. I'm around £4k down on payplan than I am with my creditors (going by my credit file) I thought Payplan asked for the correct amount at the beginning of the DMP. I know some creditors are still charging me or have started to again.

    Hi,
Havent been on the thread for a while, so wanted to pop in a wish you all A Happy New Year!

Im still on the Dmp (2 years into it now) and things are just getting better and better finacially for us. I now have money put away for emergencys, and have done xmas without any credit at all!! (THIS IS A FIRST FOR ME)

I am not with one of the free debt management companys as i hadnt found this site before going on one. But i have to say we have considered swapping to a free service in the past and after reading a few people experiences we have decided to stick with a fee charging firm ( running to take cover as i know you will all disagree with me on this!!) The company have been amazing since my lightbulb moment, iv never had to speak to a creditor, or write any letters they have dealt with everything, they managed to stop interest on all but one creditor, were over the moon for me when i won my bank charges back, helped me with filling court forms in at the beginiing as one creditor had already started procedings.
I know it means a small % of my repayments go to them each month, but in 24 months we have cleared over £10000 worth on debt (this includes reclaimed bank charges) and have 3 years left until DFD. Although im hoping to make full and fianal payments in about 12-18 months if my budget goes as planned.

To anyone just setting out on your debt free journey..Good luck and to all of you already on it..well done and keep going..i have said it before and will continue to say it..it was the best thing i ever did.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR

    Hi
Got a letter today from first direct saying they cant except the £1 token payment I sent them, but they didn't send it back! Anyway the letter said they will send me another letter defaulting then move us over to DCA. to be honest the letter was quite nice and explained everything oh and the took away all my banking facilities I had with them but that's OK as i have another account with everything going into and out of that.
I sent the CCCS all the documents with regard to income and creditors on Thurs via special delivery they should of got it Friday but CCCS say they cant see they have it and the receipt I got from PO was in my wallet but this morning my kids came down and went through my wallet and the receipt has gone, the PO said they cant help!
So I am praying that the CCCS can find the letter I sent them coz otherwise Im not sure what I will do.
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!
  • Hello Everyone !!!:santa2:

It has been quite a while since I have posted on this thread even though I read every day.

Just wanted to pop in and say Happy New Year to you all, Donna is exactly right no matter how hard it seemed at first, finally facing up to my debts (LBM 01/01/2007) was the best thing that ever happened to me along with finding this site!

I will be eternally grateful to all the fantastic people on this site and especially the DMP Support Thread.:T

I too have just spent my 1st Christmas for a very long time paid for solely in cash and not running up any debt at all.

I wish you all a Very Healthy, Happy and Prosperous New Year!!!
