what do creditors think of uni fees? I may have to pay for my tuition (part-time so £1020 a year) and was wondering if they take this into consideration?

I think I need to do a full budget review as I'm down as getting less than I actually do & paying more rent than I actually do. I just want to be able to live each month. How much am I mean to live on?
  • hi all,
got a letter from cabot today accepting the dmp.had a letter 2 weeks ago saying they are defaulting, etc, so i was going to send a strongly worded reply saying see you in court then youll get no increases forever so accept the fiver cos no way youll get £28.anyway, put in on hall table and kept thinking ,ill post in after xmas cos post is carp, so am really glad i didnt post!!!
got one from iqor, who i had no probs with for years.they want 700 in 48 hours from letter dated 18th dec:confused: or they will see me in court....had to fone.they said their clients are getting fed up cos ive been paying more than 10 years:eek: and they usually dont have a debt that long but theyare keeping me cos im such a good payer:rotfl: ....so i said , basically, they can like it or lump it, but more politely:D and he said not to worry and keep on paying.

so persevere with these ppl and when they realise they cant scare you, they will back down and accept the dmp cos at least they know you are a regular payer.

    end of essay.ttfn

  • Hi all

Has anyone had any dealings with First Revenue Assurance? MBNA have sold my debt onto them and I've recevied a letter from them saying they want me to pay £5838 by 28th December. However, they rang me the other night, I explained I was with Payplan on a dmp and they just said oh ok, we'll speak to them then.

Haven't heard anything since so not sure if I should be worrying or not!

I honestly don't think with all that has happened this year I would have kept sane without knowing there is someone at the end of the broadband connection that can sympathise, help or support - it has all been so much appreciated I am not alone and that really does mean something.

Hope you have a really nice family Christmas you deserve it with all the long hours you work :)
  • Thank you ray. Onwards and upwards for 2008 :T

Hello everyone, loving this thread, feels like home already.

In brief, had LBM about 9am this morning and have been reading threads on MSE ever since. I am self-employed, husband also and in volatile property market which means asset-reasonably-rich but cash-utterly-poor situation (trying to sell asset at mo).

Have credit card debts of approx. £40,000 including MBNA loan - all unsecured. Am behind on virtually all cards and when i get a default notice, I pay it on time (miraculously) to make sure the default notice is corrected on my file.

Unsure about a DMP via a third party as I'm worried how it will affect my credit file. Late payments are one thing but I can't risk having anything really bad on there as it will seriously affect husband's ability to trade...

I'm thinking of doing a self-managed DMP but have a question. I'm going to ring them/write to them (what's best?) and ask them to freeze interest and charges and I will cut up cards and make minimum payment.

Are they going to put anything hideous on my credit file if i do that though?

I would appreciate any help you can give.

Having a real moment here. The truth has dawned on me and everything looks bleak but I know i've made a really positive step this morning.

    Thanks
    Lou
  • I contacted CCCS early in December and we agreed a DMP with several (8) creditors to kick in January 2008. I've had one acceptance and one refusal. Its a weird phase as the card companies continue to send me statements. They've taken the payment I made via CCCS, so they've obviously received all the relevant DMP correspondence. No phone calls...absolutely nothing! Its such a strange time and perhaps too early in the process for me to expect any firm reaction. I know I've done the right thing and must stick to my guns. In any case, I can't afford to pay more even if I wanted to. This site is so useful. I wish everyone a successful 2008 in everything they endevour to achieve. Cloudnine
